INQ Cloud Touch: Facebook Phone Gets UK Price / Release Date

Back in February we provided our readers with a full list of specs for INQ’s Cloud Touch Facebook phone, which as we previously mentioned is due to be released in the UK to start off with. We now have a bit of good news for those in the UK, as we’ve just received word on a price and release date.

According to a recent article by Luke Johnson over on the t3.com website, the INQ Cloud Touch handset – which will be running Google’s Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system – is due to arrive in the UK on April 6th, and will be available exclusively from Best Buy and Carphone Warehouse.

The INQ Cloud Touch handset will be available as either SIM free, Pay-as-you-Go or on a monthly contract. If customers want the Cloud Touch phone SIM free, it will set them back £299.95. Meanwhile, the Pay-as-you-Go option requires a one off fee of £199.95.

However, the handset can also be picked up for free from the two pre-mentioned retailers, when signing a £20 per month contract. The Cloud Touch comes with a 3.5-inch touch screen display with a resolution of 480 x 320, a 1300mAh battery, a 600MHz Qualcomm processor and a 5-megapixel camera.

INQ Cloud Touch Specs: Release First In The UK

While most Smartphone’s these days have some sort of social media integration, none would have the features that sites like Facebook would like. If phones were to reach their full social media potential, it would take a closer relationship between site and hardware, and this is something Facebook has known for a while.

We have heard rumors of Facebook phones for many months, and the recent news of INQ’s Cloud Touch and Q Android phones confirmed what we already knew, but will this close relationship with Facebook – during the devices build – create a better social phone?

Lets take a look at the INQ Cloud Touch and its full specs list. The hardware features a 5mm audio jack and MicroUSB charging, a 1300mAh battery, 5 mega pixel autofocus camera, 4MB memory with an extra 4GB microSD card included, a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touch screen, and Qualcomm 7227 chipset running at 600MHz.

The INQ Cloud Touch also features Triband HSPA, proximity and ambient light sensors, a compass and accelerometer, FM Radio, GPS, Bluetooth, and 802.11b/g WiFi. So it looks like the hardware is enough for those that want an all-round device, but does the software back this up?

INQ Mobile has included the popular Android Froyo 2.2 operating system, and improved on this with extra Facebook integration. The standard software features include quick access to key functions with fast unlock and key handset functions are also accessed by the Info Key. You will find free push email, IM from Facebook chat, Google Talk, and WLM.

If you’re a regular user of Facebook, and the hardware in these new INQ Mobile phones is good enough for you, then you will love the Facebook features. Thanks to the Facebook collaboration, you will find all new apps for Facebook on both the INQ Cloud Q and INQ Cloud Touch.

Forget the status updates in a boring text based format; think about a visual homescreen that features a rich media feed. This feed will show you web pages, videos, pictures, and more via your friends’ updates. You can get access to Notifications, the Wall, Messages, Friends, and Facebook Chat in a single click.

INQ Announces Cloud Touch and Cloud Q Android Devices

We have some exciting news now for all you social networking fans out there that are currently thinking of buying a new phone, as INQ has just announced two brand new Android-based devices – one being the INQ Cloud Touch and the other being the INQ Cloud Q.

As Eric M. Zeman over on the phonescoop.com website recently reported, both devices share most of the same specs, which include a 600MHz Qualcomm 7227 processor, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, FM Radio and a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus.

However, while the Cloud Touch – which you can see a video of via the YouTube link here –features a 3.5-inch HVGA display, the Cloud Q comes with a 2.6-inch screen and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Both phones do however come with deep Facebook integration.

The only possible downside to the Cloud Touch phone according to Gareth Beavis over at techradar.com is the fact that it only comes with 4MB of internal memory. Then again, that can possibly be expected considering the device is going to be aimed at the lower-end of the market.

What is great about the INQ Cloud Touch however is the Facebook integration, which includes a chance to choose your five top friends to follow using Facebook’s social graph API and a customizable widget. Facebook Events will be fully integrated with the Google Calendar as well.
