Call of Duty Ghosts may be on the way from Infinity Ward this year in November, but it looks like Treyarch will also be offering a slight teaser of the game, by including a Call of Duty Ghost weapon camo in Black Ops 2. We usually see each respective Call of Duty developer separate from one another wherever possible, but it looks like the two have joined together for good causes on this occasion.

If Call of Duty Ghosts is a day one purchase for you and you already have the PC version of Black Ops 2, it looks like a new weapon camo may be on the way soon. We’ve seen from Activision recently, that micro-transaction custom packs for Black Ops 2 are now in the open – offering gamers some new weapon skins, aiming reticles and calling cards for those looking to pay a little extra.

Now, it appears that the Call of Duty Ghosts weapon camo for Black Ops 2 is going to be available for anyone that pre-orders the upcoming game through GameStop. A poster obtained by MP1st suggests that the retailer may have an exclusive on the camo, as part of their PowerUp rewards system.

The camo itself looks very cool indeed and has already been spotted in-game after several players discovered the camo file name within the PC game folders. Treyarch themselves have confirmed on Twitter that the reward should be available on all platforms, so theoretically – Wii U players should be able to get the camo as well if they pre-order Call of Duty Ghosts.

At the moment, there’s no information on whether the Ghosts camo will be available as a separate purchase, or if it will remain strictly pre-orders only. Considering that the Nuketown zombies offer was made available to everyone else after a period of pre-order exclusivity, we expect the same thing to happen here.

In the most inevitable piece of news this week, Activision has finally officially confirmed that Call of Duty Ghosts is going to be the next title in the popular shooter franchise. The company also confirmed that COD Ghosts will indeed have a release date of November 5. We now have the debut trailer to show you, and evidence that Microsoft’s Xbox systems will once again take priority before any other platforms.

The debut trailer for Call of Duty Ghosts doesn’t give away much, but what is more significant is that Activision has said that Call of Duty Ghosts gameplay will be available for viewing at Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox reveal, or the Xbox 720 as it has been christened by popular belief.

Microsoft has also chimed in on the announcement of Ghosts, once again reminding the world that the “Call of Duty series has firmly established its home on the Xbox 360, with the game’s largest and most engaged community”, compared to PS3 and PC. The game has been confirmed for the next-gen Xbox first and foremost, but also for ‘other next generation consoles’ as well – so basically it’s coming to PS4, but they couldn’t even mention it by name, as ridiculous as that is.

It also means that exclusivity on the Xbox 360 and next Xbox for Call of Duty Ghosts is another certainty at this point, so it’s pretty much business as usual. Ghosts will be coming on a brand new engine which lines up with earlier rumors, and has been described as a ‘new chapter’ for the series, moving on from Modern Warfare 4 – which ‘everyone expected it to be’ – according to Infinity Ward.

Considering that this isn’t a new Modern Warfare game, there may be a lot more interest in the game this time, especially with a brand new engine running the show. We are very interested to see how the Xbox 360 and next-gen Xbox versions differ, as that could become a key area which determines initial new Xbox hardware sales for Microsoft.

As we look forward to the first gameplay on May 21 on the new Xbox, give us your initial reaction to Call of Duty Ghosts. Are you looking forward to another Call of Duty game with Microsoft exclusivity or not?

It looks like there may just be some third-party light at the end of the tunnel after all for Nintendo’s Wii U console. After recent disappointments on seeing Battlefield 4 and FIFA 14 announced without mention of the Wii U, we have the first glimpse of a possible Wii U release for the next Call of Duty game, which could end up being called Ghosts.

If you have been keeping up with the latest COD rumors, you’ll know that Tesco and Target both recently jumped the gun in a big way, with both retailers providing listings for the unannounced title, along with a Call of Duty Ghosts potential release date of November 5.

At the time when the listings were live, Xbox 360 and PS3 versions were mentioned, as well as the arrival of next-generation versions as well at a later date. The Wii U however, was absent so it’s nice to see rumors suggesting that it could happen after all.

A Spanish retailer by the name of XtraLife has listed the game, claiming that Call of Duty Ghosts on the Wii U will release on November 11 – so a different launch date than other console versions, apparently. Obviously this is by no means confirmed yet, but we would definitely be a little surprised if the Wii U didn’t get a version, considering that Activision brought Black Ops 2 to the Wii U.

Nintendo’s version was arguably the best looking out of the console versions as well, so there really isn’t an excuse for Infinity Ward not to bring out Ghosts on the Wii U, if it really is the name of the next COD title. It’s worth noting that the listing has since been deleted and brings you back to the homepage of the retailer in question.

If you head to the official MW3 content calendar, you’ll see that Infinity Ward has yet to reveal the maps that are coming. We can see two slots for Spec Ops missions and another slot which has ‘classified’ on it. However, thanks to yet more leaked information, we can bring you details on those two Spec Ops missions before IW even has the chance to reveal it officially.

The two Spec Ops missions will be known as Light Em Up and Special Delivery respectively. Thanks to details from VideoGamer, we know that Light Em Up will put you in the role of an SAS operative who travels to Eastern Europe to rescue a teammate who is being held hostage.

Special Delivery on the other hand sounds really fun, as you’ll be able to take control of an Osprey Gunner and deliver care packages to your teammate below who is trying to eliminate a ground target. Those two missions should be available soon, but don’t forget that there is still one classified item left to come, so stayed tuned for further info on that.

PS3 users will get the content that Xbox 360 Elite members received in July. This means that PS3 players will be able play on the new Offshore and Decommission maps, while there’s also the little matter of MW2 remake Terminal hitting PS3 as well. All three maps should be available from August 16 onwards providing you have an Elite account.

What do you make of the new Spec Ops missions for August’s Xbox 360 Elite drop? What do you want the classified drop to be, a new map or another remade map from MW2 like Highrise?

The good news, is that most of the information has crept online and even an gameplay video, showing one of the alleged maps included in the September drop. Obviously, there is still the little matter of the August DLC to come, but somehow intel has arrived very early on what is coming in September.

Thanks to YouTube user GameCheat13, it looks like we have at least three new multiplayer maps on the way and they have been revealed as Boardwalk, Gulch and Parish. The source has even supplied some initial images of the maps in question, but we have a feeling you’ll be more interested in a gameplay video that has also leaked.

A video below appears to show gameplay from one of the maps, Parish, on the survival game mode. The map looks pretty cool you’ll probably agree, although it would obviously have been better if we could see this on multiplayer, rather than survival. Back to our first point though – how has this information managed to slip out so early?

Has Infinity Ward already completed all of their MW3 DLC on the disc and hackers have just been able to take apart the PC version and locate it? We doubt that’s the case, as the DLC would have been available already similar to the Street Fighter X Tekken situation. Something is clearly not right though with IW’s security, as we seem to find out what is coming every month, before it actually lands.

Not that it’s a bad thing though if you just want to find out by any means possible. To recap, Boardwalk, Gulch and Parish are likely maps coming in September. Check out the footage below and let us know what you think. Also feel free to add any ideas on how the DLC info is leaked every time.

Right now, there seems to be a great deal of uncertainty on whether game developers will be able to build their next games so that they are ‘future proof’ with the likes of the Xbox 720 and PS3. Infinity Ward may be the first to answer that question indefinitely, as some evidence uncovered on an Infinity Ward Engineer’s resume suggests that Modern Warfare 4 is going to be developed for next-gen as well.

The information on the resume here appears to have been deleted, but Kotaku claims that it originally listed ‘TBA’ as a platform alongside the Xbox 360 and PS3. Some further info from the resume apparently confirms that PC owners are also due to get DirectX11 support as well.

Did you imagine that such a scenario would be possible? – ie, Modern Warfare 4 coming on on current gen consoles and future systems from Sony and Microsoft? We would imagine that being a ton of effort for Infinity Ward to pull off, unless the next-gen hardware architecture is very similar to what they are already used to working with.

It will also give those who don’t want to splash out on next-gen consoles straight away, the chance to still pick up their favorite FPS franchise, albeit with toned down graphics from the enhanced next-gen version. It’s early days yet, but we wonder what other developers are also planning to bring their next games to current, as well as next-gen systems.

Infinity Ward has announced on Twitter, that Terminal will be releasing on PS3 on August 17th, which falls on a Friday. If you happen to have an Elite subscription on PS3 (we don’t know why), then you’ll be able to download Terminal one day earlier on August 16.

Although not confirmed by Infinity Ward yet, we’re guessing that August 16 will also be the date when the new DLC content drop arrives on Sony’s console too for Elite members. To refresh your memory, this pack will include new multiplayer maps in Decommission and Offshore, while there will also be another Spec Ops mission called Vertigo as well.

Judging by feedback on the Xbox 360 version of Terminal, it seems that everyone is loving the remade map. We’ve seen a lot of requests for Infinity Ward to now continue this trend though, and bring back other popular maps from MW3 such as Afghan and Highrise.

Still though, we’re just pleased that the company has made this a free download for all platforms, when they could have easily charged for it knowing that the collection of young COD fanatics would happily throw their money at it straight away. We say all platforms, but there’s still no release date for when Terminal will be out on the PC – hopefully this piece of info is coming next.

Providing that you have access to Call of Duty Elite on the Xbox 360, there are three new multiplayer maps and another new spec ops mission up for grabs. The maps seem to be coming very frequently you have to say and there certainly isn’t an argument against Infinity Ward for not providing enough post-release content since November last year.

The maps in question are Decommission, Offshore and Terminal, while the new spec ops mission will be called Vertigo. You can see detailed descriptions of Decommission and Offshore over on the official content calendar here, but you’ll notice that Terminal has been left off that list for good reason.

This is because the map is a little different to standard content drops. Unlike other DLC released at a later date for non-Elite members, those of you without a subscription will be available to download Terminal as soon as Wednesday July 18 – for free. This appears to be a one-off from Infinity Ward and although the map will also be coming to PS3 and PC, there’s still no dates sadly.

Vertigo looks like a very cool map, it’s a shame that it isn’t available in standard multiplayer. Let us know your thoughts on this month’s update and what map you are likely going to be playing the most. Now that Terminal is out, what other remakes from MW3 would you like to see next?

If we could choose the next remake to add, it surely has to be highrise doesn’t it? Along with Terminal, we would say that it was one of the most popular maps in MW2 and it would look fantastic on the MW3 game engine.

We have no idea how this happened, but we’re guessing it has something to do with hacking into the PC version of the game and somehow managing to transfer the PC file over to the Xbox 360 version of the game, which we clearly see in the video.

YouTube user IHCJames is the person responsible for the video, who has made no secret of his intentions to make his achievement public. Activision hasn’t even removed the video yet, so it seems they are not too concerned this being online either, which is a bit odd for an unreleased map.

As for the map itself, it is the same old Terminal that we know and love from Modern Warfare 2. All the usual locations are there and Infinity Ward has basically kept it exactly the same as before, so there isn’t any notable new places where you can go. Will it turn into a grenade launcher fest like MW2 though and will players still be able to get on top of the plane?

Just to remind you if you didn’t read our previous report – Terminal is going to be a free download, even for non-Elite members. Hopefully IW will release it sometime this week, as it is clear the files have already been put onto the PC version via the latest patch.

Just to recap, the June content drops for Elite members on Xbox 360 will be three new Face Off maps and one new Spec Ops maps. It means that there won’t be any new standard multiplayer maps this time around, although Infinity Ward are probably going to make up for that when Terminal arrives.

Infinity Ward’s executive producer Mark Rubin has been providing a lot of juicy information on his Twitter account, notably the exciting confirmation that the map will be a free download when it does arrive. You may remember that ex-community manager Robert Bowling was famously quoted as saying that he was working to get some throwback maps in MW3 that would be free to everyone and will be not tied down to any contracts or partnerships.

It looks like his vision has now paid off, as Terminal is coming to MW3. There’s no indication on when this might arrive, but Rubin said on his Twitter account that it is something that he is working on right at the moment. After scrolling down Rubin’s Twitter marathon session over the last 24 hours, we also read that Rust and Shipment where also on the old map ‘wishlist’, but he did say that he wasn’t sure if they could put them in.

Considering Activision’s ‘community’ reputation for being greedy, it’s great to see that they will be offering such a massive map for free. Along with HighRise, Terminal is definitely one of the highlights of MW2 and we can’t wait to see this available for everyone. They could have easily said that this is an Elite bonus only, but they resisted that as well – hats off to IW on this one.
