Eli Hodapp from the toucharcade.com website managed to get his hands on the new iPad 2 recently, and decided to compare the Infinity Blade game between the original iPad and the iPad 2. He’s also provided a few screenshots, so readers can view the improvements for themselves.

The first thing Eli says to look out for in the screenshots is how smooth the edges appear to be on the iPad 2. He also points out how high resolution the textures are compared to those of the original iPad. If you click through the images one by one, you will see how obvious the differences are.

As Eli notes, if this is what the new iPad 2 is capable of with existing titles that have just received a quick update, then it will definitely be interesting to see what the games are going to look like when they have been built specifically for the iPad 2.

As Mike Jackson over on the computerandvideogames.com website recently reported, the latest update, which is titled Infinity Blade: The Deathless Kings, adds new weapons, battle arenas, enemies and enhancements that further expand the original Infinity Blade game.

Not only does the latest update introduce players to ten brand new enemies as they make their way into the dungeon environment to unlock the God King’s secret, but it also provides six new gameplay arenas where players gain access to brand new in-game items.

New enemies include the Warden, the Plated Sorok, the Iron Guard, the Wood Jester and more. The game also enables players to collect and master over 30 new magic rings, shields, helmets, armor and swords, as well as gain new achievements and compete on the Infinity Blade leaderboards.

As a way of celebrating the new update, Chair Entertainment has lowered the price of the game temporarily to just $2.99. According to the itunes.apple.com website, the game is compatible with the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, but does require the device to be running iOS 3.2 or above.

Now we want to inform you that there is are 3 DLC packs that are going to make their way to the iPhone’s Infinity Blade app. We read this over at Eurogamer where Fred Dutton has written an article on it. There is even a Facebook page for the game that you can keep up with the updates for here, just head over to the page and hit the like button to receive updates from them.

At the moment we know that there will be additional weapons 5 in total as well as 5 new helmets and 5 new shields. Not only that but they are adding in a new foe known as the Marrow Fiend pictured below and they are lifting the level cap and pumping it up to 45. Great news for all of those that are totally addicted to the game.

There are more things planned as well including additional areas to explore like dungeons but what I would like to see most is a multiplayer version of the game. Perhaps fighting against other players who have the game, with leader boards and stats. That would be fantastic.

Well now we can tell you that Infinity Blade is currently the top grossing app on the store as well as the quickest selling app. Wesley Yin-Poole of Eurogamer says that Apple’s Game Center have said that the game has been downloaded 274,768 times, it retails at $5.99. That is pretty impressive when you think the app has only been out since December 9th. This totals the sales to over $1.64 million.

Now these are some interesting numbers but it must be more than that, not everybody is signed up to Apple’s Game Centre and as far as we are aware it is not compulsory to be signed up with them to download the app. So perhaps the figures could get even higher if that scenario was included. We have already spoken to you a little about Infinity Blade and gave you a round up which you can view here. What we haven’t spoken to you about though is the fact that it is now the top grossing game on the iPhone. As it stands Infinity Blade is in at number 1, whilst the Angry Birds Seasons is at number 2. The original Angry Birds game is currently at number 8.

Infinity Blade from Epic Games retails on the app store for £3.49 definitely has some really cool stuff. Something that this game has that might interest a lot of gamers is a deep character customization varying from magical skills to new shields and swords.

According to appshopper.com it has “responsive and intuitive touch controls” this makes it easier to play the game where you need to dodge attacks, retaliate with your own force and cast your magical spells on the enemy.

Onto the big question, which is better, Angry Birds or Infinity Blade? Infinity Blade offers something a bit different though, it really takes the iPhone spec to town with great graphics and game play. We now have news of another app that has just arrived, one that has been receiving positive reviews. The app I am talking about is Epic Games’ Infinity Blade, which was given a very impressive rating of 9.0 out of 10 by Hilary Goldstein over at uk.wireless.ign.com.

Hilary describes the Infinity Blade game as beautiful and addictive, and even goes as far as saying that it’s easily one of the best games that are available for iOS devices. Although this reviewer says that it can be rather challenging and frustrating at times, the Infinity Blade game is still fun to play.

Another article I came across that praises the Infinity Blade app is from Roberto over at padgadget.com. According to this report, Infinity Blade takes handheld gaming to a completely new level. The graphics are described as the best they’ve seen so far, and the interface is said to fit nicely with iOS devices.
