Huawei has certainly upped the ante with their smartphone range, such as the G520 and the Ascend Mate and now those of you in Germany (for now) will be pleased to know that the Huawei Ascend G615 has been announced. It’s said that this handset will be headed to other countries shortly after, but there is a downside here, because it’s nothing like the Ascend D2.

The reason for this is because the Huawei Ascend G615 is a 4.5-inch mid-range smartphone, although it does come with a 1280 x 720p HD display and their very own 1.4 GHz quad-core processor. The rest of the specs, which can be viewed here are pretty average, but that’s the market that Huawei is targeting. Just don’t be put off by the 8GB of internal storage because there is expandable micro-SD support

Some potential buyers might be put off by the fact that the Huawei Ascend G615 will only come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but Huawei has promised that Jelly Bean 4.1 will be made available sometime in March.

As we said above Huawei has been releasing an array of new smartphones to the market, with the Ascend Mate one of the most impressive. However, for now they have only concentrated their efforts for the Chinese market, but knowing that the G615 is to be released in Germany, is proof that the European market is the next step – just not certain how long this will be and when they plan to break the US market. The price of the Huawei Ascend G615 will be €300 when released next month.

Huawei Ascend: Hands-on Video, Photos, Specs and Price http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/10/06/huawei-ascend-hands-on-video-photos-specs-and-price/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/10/06/huawei-ascend-hands-on-video-photos-specs-and-price/#comments Wed, 06 Oct 2010 17:24:56 +0000 Jamie Pert http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=110489 Usually we concentrate on the fastest, slimmest and most expensive smartphones available, therefore to mix things up a little I thought I would introduce you to a cheaper smartphone, which may prove to be popular with people who have less of a budget.

This smartphone is the Huawei Ascend, Engadget recently got some hands-on time with the handset and they seemed pretty impressed, apparently it is surprisingly responsive and if you check out the photos here you may be pleasantly surprised by its design.

We have embedded a brief video at the end of this post showing off the Huawei Ascend, this video reveals that it will cost just $150 contract-free, you can then get a $55 per month unlimited data plan from Cricket.

The price is very competitive given that it runs Google Android 2.1, specs include a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display, a 3.2 megapixel camera and a microSD memory card slot. The display is a little dull and the screen is a little rough, however for $150 you can’t really complain.

The Huawei Ascend will be available from Cricket within the next few weeks, it is definitely worth checking out.
