Earlier this week we told you that the HTC EVO 4G LTE on Sprint was now available for pre-order, at long last. Now though we have more good news as you can prepare for release in the perfect way by reading the official user manual which has become available rather early.

It almost seems a certainly these days for manuals to leak out prior to release and consumers definitely won’t be complaining about this latest instance. It’s definitely the official manual here and 219 pages long with color illustrations as well.

When quickly scanning through the PDF file, we noticed that there’s even a manual section on private browsing. What ever would you use that for we wonder? We didn’t think sharing the HTC EVO 4G LTE with another person was on the top of your agenda, so Sprint must be providing this private browsing feature for something else.

On page 136 on the manual, there’s also some information there which many of you will find helpful. There’s been many queries on whether you can turn off the 4G LTE data connection whenever you like, and it looks like you will be able to with relative ease. This will also come in very useful indeed for those moments when you are never going to get a 4G LTE signal and you want to conserve battery life, so that’s good.

You can download the manual and study it for yourself here, courtesy of InsideSprintNow. As we told you earlier this week, there’s still no official shipping date for pre-orders, but May 18 has been mentioned several times so look out for that. For those of you looking for the best deal, Wirefly seems to be a good option at $150 on a two-year contract.

While it looks like the Droid RAZR is going to be the next Verizon handset to get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich officially, it appears that some good news is about to land for those of you with a HTC Sensation 4G on T-Mobile.

The carrier has just confirmed on their website that the Sensation 4G has ‘just completed its testing process’ and the next step is for them to finalize an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. According to their notes it will be happening ‘very soon’, although there’s no solid indication just yet unfortunately.

For a device that released almost a year ago though, it is great news you have to say. Some of you may have given up hope with more glamorous HTC handsets out there like the EVO 4G LTE, but its nice to see that a device 12 months old can still rock it with the best and handle the latest version of Android.

There’s no word on whether this will be a specific update to Android 4.0, or if T-Mobile are planning to update the handset to the very latest version of Android 4.0, which is Android 4.0.4 as seen on the GSM Galaxy Nexus and other select handsets. Obviously we hope it is the latter, but we have a feeling that some of you will just be delighted that you’ll be getting the ICS interface makeover first and foremost.

There’s also a chance that some of you with a rooted Sensation 4G are already enjoying a custom version of Ice Cream Sandwich. If this is the case, let us know how well your build is holding up at the moment. Are you experiencing any bugs or not? Hopefully we’ll have an update soon with an exact indication on when the rollouts will begin.

The HTC One X seems like an incredible piece of hardware at first glance, but one aspect of the device that is starting to worry consumers is battery life, since it only comes equipped with a 1800mAh battery.

If you live in Europe, there’s a possibility that you are already in possession of a One X since the device is now available to buy and comes with that ground-breaking new Tegra 3 quad-core processor, unlike the US version of the device which will ship with a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor instead.

The fact that the battery is non-removable as well is causing considerable frustration for some users, but it has also become apparent that the device is prone to a battery management fault in which a system apk causes the device to eat up 10 to 20 percent of battery life.

Luckily, there already appears to be an unofficial fix to get the battery life back. The offending apk in question has been identified as NvCPLSvc.apk as noted on the XDA Developers Forums and the fix is actually a simple one providing you have the Android Debug Bridge, which comes packaged with the Android SDK.

All you need to do is move the file mentioned above into the system\app directory, since it is currently in the system/bin directory and is the cause for the loss of battery life. You can read more detailed instructions on how to do this at the XDA Forums here.

Once you have done this step, you should be able to benefit from an increase in battery life – much needed for a device which utilizes 4G LTE data and Tegra 3 powered mobile games. If you already have the International HTC One X, let us know if this has worked for you, and if you notice the battery life increase straight away or not.

For those of you who are thinking of getting one – is the 1800mAh non-removable battery a turn off for you?

While Sprint has just unveiled their flagship EVO 4G LTE smartphone, Verizon on the other hand have been a bit quiet lately. Their next handset may end up being the Droid Incredible 4G, but rather than a step forward from the Galaxy Nexus, consumers may be worried that the handset is actually taking two steps back.

Alleged images of the handset have now started to appear all over the internet, as well as purported specs for the device. A lot of you are very happy with the HTC Rezound and the Galaxy Nexus at the moment, so it’s obvious that if Verizon are going to introduce yet another handset to consumers, it will need to be at least as good as the two mentioned handsets if not better.

Unfortunately, we’re not seeing evidence of that here with the Incredible 4G based on these shots. The handset doesn’t look too enticing from a design point of view, and we’re not sure what is up with the back casing of the device, if an image provided by Android Police proves to be legit.

Design aside, we’re not too impressed with the specs either. Sprint and AT&T customers will soon be able to boast quad-core processors with the respective Optimus 4X and HTC One X (International version) smartphones, but Verizon are still making customers wait it seems – with 4G LTE being the main barrier.

The Incredible 4G looks to be equipped with a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor and although it may be one of the new Snapdragon S4 chips, Verizon customers would really want something groundbreaking like a quad-core chip if they are going to part ways with the Rezound or Galaxy Nexus. We’re hearing that the device will still come with a VGA quality front-camera as well which is pretty embarrassing, while there’s no mention of HD Voice as well like the HTC EVO 4G LTE has on Sprint.

The name of the device warrants some ‘Incredible’ specs to match, but we’re not seeing them at the moment. Let’s hope that the handset has some other incredible features as a saving grace, because as it stands – we doubt that you’ll be dropping your current handset for one of these just yet.

Take a look at the images over at Android Police and give us your initial reaction to the Incredible 4G. Would you trade in your current Verizon handset for this, or do you need to see more?

It’s a pretty good time to be an AT&T customer right now. There may be a lot of you who are not too happy with the carrier’s overall service, but there’s little doubt that this will go out of the window when the mighty HTC One X arrives.

For all those planning to pick up one in the US, you’ll probably be well aware that your version will only ship with a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, whereas the International version releasing in Europe comes with a brand spanking new NVIDIA 1.5Ghz Tegra 3 quad-core chip instead.

As you can imagine, some of you are fairly envious of this but as most things in life – there is another option available if you’re willing to pay a high price for it. Some online retailers in the US have already begun offering a price for International One X, giving consumers with cash to splash a way to pick up a quad-core handset and be the envy of all your friends.

There is one major downside to doing this though aside from the high price. If you choose to go down this route, you’ll have to settle for using AT&T’s HSPA+ network instead of their LTE one, obviously. That’s the main reason why the device only comes with a dual-core chip due to the Tegra 3 chip being incompatible with LTE in the first place.

HSPA+ is still more than good enough for most of you, so really this may become a non-issue. It all boils down to whether you want a dual-core chip or a new quad-core chip and we know what we’d rather have. We did explain recently how benchmark tests proved that the S4 Snapdragon chip was well capable in terms of speed, but if you’re looking for a next-gen mobile gaming experience – the Tegra 3 has no equal.

If money is no problem for you and you’re looking to pick up an International version in the US, be prepared to pay around $630 for one unlocked. Retailer DailySteals currently has this price online for the HTC One X via Phandroid, so head to their page and order quick while you still can. It may seem expensive at first, but then again you are getting a quad-core smartphone without the hassle of paying for shipping costs from Europe yourself.

Let us know if you are currently looking around for an International HTC One X. Have you found a cheaper price elsewhere? We’ll update this if we spot a lower price along the way.

There is a lot of positive anticipation for Sprint customers right now and rightly so. The company is on the verge of unveiling their version of the AT&T HTC One X and it looks like we now have the first image of the Sprint HTC EVO One to show you.

As most of you know, today is the day when Sprint will officially unveil The HTC EVO One to the world but it looks like PocketNow has managed to obtain a real press image before the event.

There’s no certainty that the image is genuine, but given Pocketnow’s reputation for delivering accurate Sprint leaks in the past, we have a feeling that it is the real thing. We see the HTC EVO One pictured next to the AT&T HTC One X, and even the T-Mobile HTC One S makes it into the picture as well.

Interestingly, the picture also seems to suggest that the Sprint EVO One will be significantly different in design to the HTC One X. For example, the One X will feature elements of white around the edges of the device, whereas the EVO One will stick to a traditional grey color. The speaker next to the front-facing camera also differs between the two variants and in our opinion the EVO One definitely looks better in this aspect.

Hardware specs will obviously be the same between the two devices and unlike the International version which will feature a quad-core processor, the LTE radio featured in the EVO One means that the device will be restricted to a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor only.

We are obviously just hours away from an official reveal – are you excited? Given that this device is thought to contain a 2,650 mAh battery – we’d say that you should be pretty excited about this. It could well be the best Android device seen so far.

We know exactly what the iPhone 4S can offer and where it shines and fails, but comparing this device well into a year where the new iPhone 5 (6th generation) is expected to release seems strange. The Samsung Galaxy S III is expected within the next month, although this could get delayed just like the HTC One X has been with a new May release date rumoured (thanks to Best Buy), which would only add to the opinion that an iPhone 5 is needed to challenge these new phones.

Can the minor updated iPhone 4S really compete with an HTC One X or Galaxy S3? We’ll know more when the other two phones are released, but considering there are both launching around May (One X is already in the UK) with a new iPhone arriving between June and September, it might be a bad idea to purchase an iPhone 4S until you’ve discovered the features and price for the new iPhone. Some people also state that the so-called iPhone 5 would be the real update, even though 4S had been the longest wait yet for an iPhone, and considering the minor adjustments we feel they could be right with Apple saving something special for the 6th generation.

What do we know about the new HTC and Samsung phones? If you’re are considering an iPhone 4S vs. the HTC One X and Galaxy S3, then it’s worth looking into the new phones and seeing how they compare with the aging iPhone, which in our opinion shows why an iPhone 5 is needed to be a real challenger. This article details some of the latest specs for both the One X and expected for the Galaxy S3, although they explain in their summary that the devices are “equally good” and rate them as a draw. Those of you that live in the UK can see full details of the HTC One X on Vodafone here, which is available to order right now and the main features are shown in the image below.

We’ve embedded a video below this article that details the latest Samsung Galaxy S3 specs, although you need to understand that these rumors have not been officially confirmed. The video was uploaded to YouTube just a few days ago and claims its source is a “Samsung Employee“. Have a look below and let us know what you think of these specs, and if it’s enough for you to buy the Galaxy S3?

What will the iPhone 5 need in the way of features to compete with the Galaxy S3 and HTC One X? When it comes to those that love the iPhone it will not be hard for Apple to convince users to upgrade, and other phones are likely not to tempt these fans away from Apple, although the new iPhone still needs to stay competitive no matter how strong its user base is. We’ve embedded a couple of videos below listing the latest rumors for the next iPhone, and possibly even a 2013 iPhone with a 3D camera, although we’d also love to hear your wishlist if you intend on getting the next iPhone, so share a comment below.

In summary: It’s certainly clear that while Apple has a dedicated user base there are a lot of nice Android phones launching this year, and the iPhone 5 (not the 4S) will be needed to challenge these devices on a specs level. If you cannot wait for the next iPhone to arrive and need an upgrade sooner, which means you might be considering the iPhone 4S vs. Samsung Galaxy S3, then see this comparison that looks at both devices.

Galaxy S II Skyrocket owners on AT&T are probably pretty pleased right now in discovering that an update to Ice Cream Sandwich is now available, but for AT&T customers that opted to wait for the upcoming HTC One X instead, it looks like you’re going to get a smartphone which will become one of the fastest smartphones on the market right now.

The device is scheduled to release on AT&T before Summer alongside the Canadian version on Rogers Wireless, but lucky consumers in Europe not only have the option of picking this device up earlier starting from April, but they’ll also get a quad-core processor in their version as well – the US version only comes with a dual-core chip.

That is obviously causing a lot of grief for potential buyers on AT&T, but you may not have anything to worry about though if you fear that AT&T are releasing an inferior device compared to the International version. Early benchmark tests for the device have now been published and it turns out that despite shipping with a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor, the HTC One X still blows away the majority of smartphones on the market right now, including the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon, which quite frankly didn’t even come close to competing.

As explained by MobileSyrup, the Galaxy Nexus manages a benchmark score of around 2600 on Quadrant, but the HTC One X almost doubles that score with a staggering 4952 – clearly showing the potentials of the new Snapdragon S4 chipset that is contained inside the device.

If that wasn’t impressive enough, the HTC One X also outperformed the ASUS Transformer Prime, a quad-core device on Vellamo – a different benchmark test by scoring almost 2500 compared to the Prime’s 1000. That is some mighty impressive stuff there from a device which only packs a 1.5Ghz dual-core chipset.

It’s safe to say that you no longer need to worry about importing an International version, as the AT&T variant will perform just fine. It’s not even out yet, but it already looks to be a superior handset to the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. Let the games begin.

Is the HTC One X your next smartphone? If you have a Galaxy Nexus, let us know your thoughts on the surprising benchmark results for the device – thinking about switching carriers now or not?

Just over a week ago HTC announced some details regarding a collection of its handsets and the manufacturer’s plans for upgrading to Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Today we have some more news as the US HTC ICS update list is revealed by the company.

HTC may not be the quickest in getting the update out to their devices but they seem to be ahead of the likes of Motorola, and are at least keeping everyone informed. This latest news brings the new operating system closer to many of the company’s US carrier specific smartphones. HTC have confirmed a number of Verizon handsets will eventually be getting the upgrade, which according to SlashGear includes the HTC Rezound.

Other handsets listed by HTC include the HTC Thunderbolt, HTC Droid Incredible 2, and the HTC Rhyme. The company also announced that the HTC Raider that is found on Rogers and Bell in Canada will receive ICS. HTC promised that more handsets will be listed in the coming weeks so will hopefully reach the likes of T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T devices.

This will be good news for owners of the handsets that may have wondered if their device would be left out of the upgrade plans. We recently told you that some owners of the HTC Sensation and Sensation XE will soon be treated to early access to ICS for testing. It looks like that many HTC handsets that are around a year or more old should eventually be upgraded to Android 4.0.

The company has yet to give a timescale when this latest list of smartphones will actually be receiving the update, but hopefully it won’t be too far away. Do you have any of the handsets now listed by HTC?

Earlier this week we gave you the latest update on the HTC Endeavor, which is thought to be the company’s next flagship smartphone. Now though, we have reports that the device may be set for another name change, and may be debuting at MWC 2012 as the HTC One-X.

For a device that started off as the rumored HTC Edge, then gained credibility as the HTC Endeavor, strong rumors are now suggesting that the final name for HTC’s first quad-core smartphone will be the HTC One-X. A URL surfacing from Denmark has apparently already been secured by an HTC subcontractor according to PocketNow and further evidence of this being a reality could be seen in another HTC device that is thought to be on the way, the HTC Ville.

The HTC Ville is rumored to be lower-end version of the HTC One-X and is thought to be also undergoing a branding change from the Ville to the HTC One-S. If you think about the strategy that HTC has used in the past with their Sensation smartphone and subsequent releases in the Sensation XE and XL, it does appear to be a logical step for them to name their next two devices with the same approach as the Sensation.

You may not take to the new One-X and One-S names immediately, but the features packed inside both devices should bring you back to reality and remind you that it really is all about the hardware specs at the moment. The One-X is obviously the pick of the bunch packing a 4.7-inch HD display and a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, but the One-S will be no slouch either packing a dual-core 1.5Ghz chip along with Ice Cream Sandwich.

It almost seems a forgone conclusion now that we’ll see both devices at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, so the main areas of focus now will be how much they will end up costing, will they both come with 4G LTE support and how much has HTC customized both devices with their infamous Sense UI? Then there is the exciting wait to see which carrier in the US picks up these devices.

HTC’s last big release the Rezound arrived on Verizon Wireless, so will Big Red secure another big victory over the likes of AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile by managing to stock the world’s first mainstream quad-core smartphone? NVIDIA has recently teased that quad-core phones will definitely be on show at MWC, so it’s safe to say that we don’t have long to find out.

Do you agree with us that it is simply all about the hardware specs, and not the name branding? Or do you think that the Endeavor and Ville sound better than the One-S and One-X?
