HTC S740: much like Touch Diamond and Pro
August 26, 2008 by Peter
For those of you who have often thought about owning a HTC Touch Pro but thought it was a little over the top, then HTC have another offering. The HTC S740 is a revamp of the old S710 and I have to say that HTC have certainly worked hard on their new handset.
The basic concept is much the same, the Windows Mobile Standard cell phone has the candybar styling along with the slide-out QWERTY keyboard. HTC have borrowed a lot of the design features from their Touch Diamond and Touch Pro and given the S740 a 2008 look.
As you would expect, HTC have worked hard on improving the features of the S740 over the older S710. The handset comes with 7.2Mbps HSDPA on the 900 and 2100MHz bands.
Other features include a 3.2-megapixel fixed focus cam, 2.4-inch QVGA display, quadband EDGE, GPS and WiFi. Many might be thinking that their handset already features most of those features, but do they have that cool keyboard that the S740 has.

HTC Dream Android phone gets FCC approval
August 18, 2008 by Daniel
Filed under Cell Phone Information, Cell Phones

It was once known to the world as The Googlephone and only a rumor, but today we are hearing things have been made even more official thanks to the FCC approving The HTC Dream phone.
Now that HTC Dream has received FCC approval, we can confirm that much of the rumor is more real now, although specs are still uncertain.
What we know is the handset is listed with a model of “DREA100” and the type is called “Dream”. Other confirmation comes in the form of a WiFi Interoperability Certificate; this shows the same model with 802.11b/g WiFi.
While its still a rumor that the Dream is indeed a Google Android phone, if this becomes true then HTC and T-Mobile are clear for a October launch as planned.
Other features are said to be a jogball and Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR. You can read the source of these details at FCC WiFi Bluetooth, FCC Cell Radios and HTC Dream WiFi Certification (PDF doc).

HTC Dream Android Phone shown on video
August 11, 2008 by Peter

We have managed to locate a video that shows of the new HTC Dream Android phone, forgive us as it is not the highest quality video. As a phone fan you should be able to look past the poor video quality as well as the Darth Vader heavy breathing noises, from the guy in the video.
This video footage does look as though it could be the HTC Dream, which is the world’s first Android handset. The phone features a slide out QWERTY keyboard along with a touchscreen.
It has been a while since we have seen anything on the Google Android interface; this latest video appears to have been tweaked a little. The auto-rotating display looks as though it has come straight from the iPhone.
The phone does look nice with its hidden keyboard, once the panel slides out the phone then takes on a Sidekick look, this could be a bad point for many.
You will just have to watch the video to make your own decision, is the real HTC Dream or just someone’s idea of a joke.
Are T-Mobile planning HTC Google Android handset release at end of year?
August 6, 2008 by Alan
Filed under Cell Phone Information, Cell Phones

There have been a lot of interest on the pending release of the first Google Android handsets but the news is that HTC hope to release them at the end of the year. Still no official date yet though, but at least it’s a bit of news to get fans hopeful.
HTC have claimed these blank, unbranded phones will be heading out to the original design manufacturer by the fourth quarter of the year and only then will fans be able to get their hands on one.
Although there has been a lot of speculation on the Google Android phones, there still is the debate on which mobile phone provider will distribute it. Sources have indicated that T Mobile could be the company that is going to take on the responsibility, as previous news stated that Google had assisted T-Mobile US with the HTC Dream handset.
As its just turned August though, I wouldn’t expect any more hints on these phones until later on when it edges nearer to the end of the year. Hopefully soon though, there will be reports of seeing these mobiles in action, stay tuned to hear more news.

HTC Touch Diamond could be launched in May: Not Android
April 28, 2008 by Peter

News has come to light that HTC will be holding a massive press event on 6th May and those lucky guys over at Pocket-Lint will be going. This global press event has got many people talking, which means that there are plenty of rumors circulating. Some people believe that the smartphome maker will announce the launch of their Andriod handset however; this seems to be a bit of wishful thinking.
Some of the latest suggestions are that this could be the announcement of the launch of the HTC Touch Diamond, which is their latest Windows Mobile SmartPhone. This new cell phone will see it replace the older Touch Cruise as well as the Touch Pro and will be on the T-Mobile network.
Some of the latest specs to be featured on the much anticipated HTC Touch Diamond are a 2.8-inch VGA screen and a 3.1MP camera with flash, 4GB internal flash storage as well as microSD expansion. The addition of Bluetooth as well as Wi-Fi is just great news. That is not all as the handset also features Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, eGPS as well as an Orientation sensor.
Once we know some more we will keep you informed, and no doubt Pocket-Lint will have all the latest once they have attended the press event.

HTC Android handset launch this May?
April 8, 2008 by Peter
Filed under Cell Phone Information, Cell Phones

Those lucky people at Pocket Lint have received an invitation to an event to be held in London, this could be the exiting launch for the much anticipated HTC Android handset. The teaser for the event read “Witness the next wave of HTC Innovation,” which does make you assume that they will launch the handset.
In 2008 HTC are to launch three phones that are to use the Google’s Android platform, more information will be available in May from the event. Other companies within the Google Android alliance have not hinted when they will launch a handset, but as HTC provided Google with a prototype handset, it makes sense that HTC are the first to launch an Android handset.
