Carphone Warehouse is launching an unlimited data plan for £12 per month on various smartphones, including the HTC Wildfire. Carphone Warehouse have said that users will ‘never pay for the internet’ on its Talkmobile virtual network.

Patrick Goss of TechRadar is reporting that a new mobile phone is part of the contract being made available from April 6th to May 4th, from a range of thirty handsets. This includes the HTC Wildfire on the £12 monthly contract, Sony Ericsson Xperia for £30 and the INQ Cloud for £18 per month.

Carphone Warehouse insists the next best unlimited data plan on a similar handset would cost £360 more in the UK, using the example of the two year contract on the HTC Wildfire. UK Trading Director at The Carphone Warehouse, Mark Eastham, said that “when we say unlimited internet access we really mean it”

There is a choice of thirty smartphones available when contracted to various affordable tariffs. Carphone Warehouses Talkmobile service will be using the Vodafone infrastructure, and the mobile retailer hopes its new service will further boost its user base.

Do you think Carphone Warehouse’s new unlimited data plan is good value?

We have some good news for US consumers now, as HTC has announced that they will be bringing the popular Wildfire handset to the US, but it won’t be coming with Android 2.2 Froyo out of the box.

As reported from BGR, the Wildfire is going to be exactly the same as it’s European counterpart and is apparently due for release during the 4th quarter of this year – according to HTC.

Specs of the compact device include a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a 528MHz processor with 384MB RAM and 512MB ROM, a 5 megapixel camera, and the usual bluetooth, WiFi and GPS offerings. As we mentioned above, the Wildfire will still release with Android 2.1 and the old version of Sense UI. No word on a possible upgrade to Android 2.2 Froyo yet either.

If you’re interested in picking this up, you can read the full press release over at BGR. We’ll let you know once pricing details are available.

The HTC Wildfire has, well, spread like Wildfire since its release date and is still currently one of the most sought after smartphones on the market. Many of you might even see it being just as good as the HTC Desire, just with a lower spec sheet.

But in terms of functionality, the Wildfire delivers. Even in the social networking department where it comes with a few extra social networking features that are exclusive to the device.

One of the reasons being why this phone is still head and shoulders over the rest is its price. The HTC Desire, which in terms of specs and popularity is still ahead of the Wildfire, but is aimed at the higher end of users in terms of smartphone coolness.

With all this in mind, it’s good to see that HTC and Google have decided to give the Wildfire the 2.2 Froyo Android update, which should have already hit you. If not, you will just have to wait until your carrier says they will make the update available to you.

Although we have touched on the subject before, Froyo will increase the speed and performance of the Android OS aswell as providing new features and support for new content such as Flash.

If you are a Bell customer looking for mid-level smartphone we have some good news for you, it looks as if the HTC Wildfire may soon be available.

This news arose when an anonymous source sent an image to AndroidGuys, this image (seen here) shows incentives for Bell’s sales reps along with an image of the HTC Wildfire.

This image looks pretty official, if so it looks like Bell could be the first Canadian carrier to offer the Wildfire, at the moment no release date hints have been revealed, however I doubt that the release is too far away.

As we hear more regarding the Bell release of the HTC Wildfire we will keep you posted, for now check out the source link below for full details.

Yesterday we posted an article which suggested that a Virgin Mobile UK release was looking likely for the HTC Wildfire, we have now heard that the low-end smartphone will be coming to another UK carrier, T-Mobile UK.

Apparently T-Mobile UK will begin offering the handset from June 14th, as you would have probably expected the handset will be available for free as part of a contract, this contract is a 24-month deal costing you £20 per month (the equivalent of $29 per month).

If you would like to purchase the handset outright and SIM-free one UK online store Expansys have the handset listed for £249.99 ($357), however stock isn’t expected until July 26th.

As you have probably noticed from my previous HTC Wildfire posts I have a soft spot for this low-end smartphone, mainly as for a low-end smartphone it packs some half-decent performance hardware and entertainment-related functionality, it’s just a shame about the screen resolution.

Yesterday we revealed a new handset from HTC, the HTC Wildfire, despite this handset being released to replace the low-end HTC Tattoo it boasted some half-decent specs, which I believe may make the Wildfire a success.

Release information regarding this handset has been scarce so far, however a recent article posted on IntoMobile suggests that the UK carrier Virgin Mobile may offer the handset, apparently if this is true it will be available during Q3 2010.

At the moment we cannot confirm this release period, nor can we confirm details regarding pricing, so far rumors suggest a retail price of between €250 and €300, however as part of a contact with Virgin Mobile the handset will probably be free.

If you want to find out more about our the HTC Wildfire check out a brief hands-on review here, this article includes a gallery of photos. Also if you are interested in performance take a look at the handset’s processor speed and RAM here.

Earlier on today we revealed HTC’s new entry-level smartphone the HTC Wildfire, to be honest I had low hopes for this handset however the specs, photos and hands-on video revealed earlier really changed my opinion.

Not only does the handset feature some pretty impressive features such as a 5 megapixel camera, WiFi b/g connectivity, touchscreen display etc, but it also features some impressive technical specifications which should help the Android OS run pretty quickly.

The Wildfire features a 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM7225 processor, 384 MB of RAM and a screen resolution of 320 x 240, in a high-end smartphone these specs would be quite disappointing however as a budget handset this is more than acceptable.

Most of the HTC handsets we have spoken about lately have been high-end smartphones which compete with Apple’s iPhone 3GS, however HTC have recently unveiled a new entry-level handset called the HTC Wildfire.

From what we can see the Wildfire will replace the HTC Tattoo in the low-end market, that said the Wildfire’s design and specifications still seem pretty appealing.

The Wildfire runs Android 2.1 combined with HTC Sense, hardware-wise the handset features a 5 megapixel camera, a 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen display and optical trackpad.

Other mentionable specs include a microSD memory card slot, a 1,300mAh battery, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a wide-range of connectivity options such as Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi b/g.

One thing which HTC seem to be promoting with this handset is a new app called Application Sharing, to be honest this app doesn’t sound that great to me, however a video embedded at the end of this post shows it in action. From what we can see Application Sharing offers a quick and easy way for you to tell your friends about apps you like, Google are probably hoping that this will help promote the use of their Android Marketplace.

SlashGear say that the Wildfire is a step-up from the HTC Tattoo, as you can expect there are some things which stop this handset competing with mid/high-end smartphones, such as a pixelated screen, however it is still a pretty responsive handset which should be sufficient for a lot of users out there.

Currently we have no confirmed information regarding a release date or pricing, however rumors suggest a Q3 2010 release date. Check out the source link below for more information and a gallery of photos.

Will you purchase the HTC Wildfire?
