The HTC tablet which had the code name Puccini has been speculated about for a while now, but this can now end. It has been announced today that the HTC Jetstream (Puccini) is coming next week on AT&T. The 10.1-inch tablet PC will be the first from the company to run Android 3.1 Honeycomb.

According to an article TechCrunch it will also be running a specially tweaked Sense UI for the larger display of the tablet PC. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, and has an 8-megapixel camera on the rear with a dual LED flash. On the front there is a 1.3-megapixel shooter that can be found at the top of the WXGA display.

A previous rumor that the device will be having LTE support have now been confirmed, and makes the Jetstream AT&Ts only non-modem LTE device. The tablet PC is not the thinnest device available at 0.51 inches thick, and also ways slightly over 1.5 pounds. The power of the device should more than make up for it though.

HTC have decided to include the Scribe support that was first seen on its Flyer tablet, which will please users who like to use a pen type device to doodle with. The device will come with some preloaded apps that include the AT&T Family Map, AT&T Navigator. There is also HTCs Friendstream and Watch applications.

The HTC Jetstream is being released next week on September 4th, and will cost consumers $699 with a two year contract. AT&T data plans come in at $15 for 200 MB, $25 for 2GB, and the carrier have announced a new $35 3GB plan.

HTCs new tablet offering comes at a big cost so it remains to be seen what the demand for the device will be like. The recent issues surrounding the HP TouchPad that saw hardly any sales at the launch price, and only began moving units once the price was slashed.
Do you think the price for the HTC Jetstream is too high?

As one tablet sees its demise another one rises from the ashes. The HTC Puccini has now been spotted in the wild just days after the downfall of the HP TouchPad. The new tablet is due to hit Ma Bell first, closely followed by AT&T. According to Engadget sources the new Puccini is still being tested, but should not be too long before consumers will be able to get their hands on yet another Android tablet.

AT&T already has two LTE tablets on the market, so this HTC offering will round things off nicely. There is no fear of the phone maker reducing the price of the Puccini just weeks after release, as they have the full backing of Android and its huge array of apps, which is one of the reasons why HP pulled the plug on their webOS device.

It was back in May when we learned about the new HTC Puccini and some of the proposed specs; but if you cannot remember then here is a little reminder. There is a dual-core 1.5-GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel camera, 16GB of internal storage, 101-inch screen and also Android Honeycomb. That’s as much as we know so far, but if you would like to see what the beast looks like, then check out some of these images thanks to the guys over on Engadget.

There are no real surprises in the design, as the likes of Samsung, Motorola and HTC seem to be following the same form factor as the iPad. What Apple did when they launched the iPad was offer something fresh, new and exciting – we might be waiting sometime until rivals offer the same.

However, it will take a brave company to change the tablet form factor, but something needs to change if they have any hope of competing with the iPad.

It has been a while since we last heard any details on the rumored HTC Puccini tablet, but we now have an update for you. It has been reported that the Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet device is still on course for a release sometime during the Summer.

Aside from the release date update, we’re also hearing that the HTC Puccini will have support for 4G LTE data speeds, and will be equipped with a 1.5Ghz Qualcomm MSM8660 single-core processor. Furthermore, an article published by Digitimes states that two companies AU Optronics and Wintek have been assigned with duties to supply the 10.1-inch display panels for the device.

Will the Puccini end up being an exclusive for AT&T, or will HTC try to push this out on Verizon as well to maximize sales? We’re a bit disappointed upon hearing that the Puccini may come with a single-core processor, just like the HTC Flyer. It seems as if HTC favor the single core option as opposed to dual-core like every other tablet manufacturer on the market.

Are you saving your money for the HTC Puccini, or have you already spent your money on a Motorola Xoom, G-Slate or iPad 2? We’ll inform you when we have fresh details to give you.

This year it seems like everybody is trying to bring out a tablet PC to take on Apple. Last week we told you about a HTC device that could be coming out on the AT&T network, but not much more was known. Today we can report that more details of the AT&T tablet have emerged.

Scott Webster of Android Guys is reporting in an article that the 10-inch Android device will have a 1280×800 resolution display. The details come courtesy of 911Sniper and the device will also be powered by the Qualcomm 1.5 GHz dual-core processor.

It will also be running Android 3.01 which will soon be followed by 3.1 which was recently announced. The device is also thought to be able to support the HTC Scribe stylus. The HTC tablet is thought to be landing sometime in June.

Consumers are going to have a nice choice of tablet PCs this year if they want one on the Android Platform. The Apple iPad when it was first launched last year kicked off the surge in tablet PCs we are now seeing. While the iPad remains the bench mark in the field, there are some worthy devices coming to the market.

Just when you were thinking that the tablet announcements and releases were starting to die down a little after a barrage of new tablets at CES 2011 and CTIA 2011, we now have another one to tell you about, and it’s pretty huge.

We’re hearing that AT&T are planning to release their very own tablet, and it will apparently be designed by HTC and will be known as the ‘Puccini’. Yeah, the name is a bit strange we agree, but it may be a codename for now until the thing is actually announced by the US carrier.

The rumors have surfaced from PocketNow, who have included a press image of the unannounced device which you can see below. It looks similar in appearance to the HTC Flyer, the company’s other tablet on the way, but the one main difference is that AT&T’s tablet will have support for 4G LTE data speeds.

Yes that’s right, AT&T are still planning to get their 4G LTE network out this year to compete with Verizon, and what better way than to tout your very own tablet release. No word on possible specs yet, but we’re guessing two cameras, dual-core processors, plenty of RAM, a lovely HD screen and the latest version of Android wil be standard features.

What are your thoughts on this – would you be interested in picking up a AT&T-specific tablet?
