We have recently heard that a new high-end HTC smartphone may be headed to AT&T, this is said to be called the HTC Lead and will apparently compete with the HTC EVO 3D, Sensation and Thunderbolt.

So far we have not heard a lot about this mysterious handset, however a recent article posted on IntoMobile suggests that like a lot of other recently released high-end HTC models it will feature a 4.3-inch qHD display along with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. Other rumored specs include WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and a 5 megapixel camera, however there is no sign of a a front-facing camera, which is strange for a high-end device like this.

In terms of software we are led to believe that it will run Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread out-of-the-box and the OS will be masked by HTC Sense 3.0, however one thing to note is that lots of this information was gained from a leaked ROM, therefore it may not be 100% accurate.

The HTC Lead will be a welcome addition to AT&T’s offerings as at the moment the only HTC smartphone they offer which runs Android is the HTC Inspire 4G, this smartphone features a single-core 1GHz processor, therefore the Lead should be much snappier.

Hopefully we will hear more about the HTC Lead soon, when we do we will keep you up-to-date with all of the relevant information. Will you be keeping a close eye on the HTC Lead?
