We have some exciting news for those of you hoping to get your hands on one of HTC’s Incredible S phones or HTC Droid Incredible 2 as it will be known in the U.S. We previously brought you news that the phone would be released on the Verizon network, which has since been confirmed.

Today we can confirm that you can get the phone on whichever network you prefer as it will also be available unlocked for the price of $560.

According to the article by Quentyn Kennemer at Phandroid, the deal on the stylish smartphone is being offered by Plemix. It can be used on T-Mobile and AT&T as well as Verizon thanks to the quad-band GSM radios.

Following up to the success of the original HTC Incredible, the Incredible S will include features such as a 1GHz processor, front facing camera as well as an 8 megapixel camera on the back and a 4” LCD display.

Earlier this month Best Buy offered the HTC Thunderbolt for pre-order, even though Verizon did not offer an official release date. However, what they did give us was a price for the handset, but not the 4G rate. That kind of information was left to our readers, and it seems as though there is some concern over this; with some suggesting that they might wait for Verizon’s HTC Incredible to release later this year.

It seems as if the rumors of a 4G rate increase is not true, well not in most cases anyway. From what we have read from the comments those who sign a $30 per month contract will stay at that rate, even if Verizon decide to up it 6 months down the line.

This is certainly nothing new, as new customers always get a good deal, but can you see Verizon increasing their new 4G data plan when there will be more competition coming along towards the end of the year or early 2012?

We mentioned earlier that no release date has been set, but the smart money is on February 24th. This has concerned those who have already pre-ordered, as they still have no idea how much the carrier will charge them for the 4G contract; the price that most are will to pay is $10 to $15 more each month. Some have even suggested that they might wait for a newer 4G handset if the price is too high. However, if the plan is still too high then this could have an affect on sales of the new 4G Incredible as well.

What are your expectation for Verizon’s new 4G data plans not only in 2011 but 2012 as well?

We have some important news if you are planning to pick up a HTC Droid Incredible in the coming weeks, as HTC has confirmed that all new models will ship with an SLCD screen, rather than the original AMOLED screen.

As reported from Droid-Life, HTC confirmed the news earlier on today, but a new Verizon document has clarified that this will affect all new models of the Droid Incredible handset.

HTC has said that the new models will be available ‘at the end of the Summer’, but Verizon’s document says the ‘end of September’ – which one is correct?

Droid-Life point out that the inclusion of a SLCD screen rather than AMOLED may help to reduce battery life problems, which is becoming quite a problem for Incredible owners at the moment.

What are your thoughts on this? Are you happy with an SLCD screen or not?

We have some good news for those of you looking to pick up a HTC Incredible handset, as Verizon has given us an updated release date for when the carrier will definitely have more stock in.

As reported from BGR, supply for the device has been hit with numerous shortages, as a result of a few vital components that are needed for the device.

Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam recently said that the company needed to delay shipments to retail stores so that they could focus on online sales, but we can now confirm that the new shipping date is July 12th.

So unless you are willing to fork out for a handset from sites like Ebay, you should be able to get one in July. Check out Verizon’s website here for further updates.

We have some great news for HTC Incredible users on Verizon now, as we can confirm that the handset finally has a working root. The last one we reported on seemed to be fake, but this is definitely the real deal here.

As reported from Phandroid, ”Unrevoked” is the team that you can thank for the root. They are also the team responsible for creating one of the root methods for the HTC EVO too we might add.

However, unlike the root method for the HTC EVO, this one appears a little tricky. With that said, we recommend that users should only attempt this root if you have previous experience doing this.

Full instructions for the root can be found over at Unrevoked here. Alternatively, you can visit the HTC Incredible root thread here over at Android Forums if you have any problems during the process.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

If you check out Verizon’s official website, you will see that the HTC Incredible is currently priced at a comfortable $200. But for customers and users who are interested in saving a few dollars, head over to Amazon where you can pick up the phone for $50 less.

The difference between the official Verizon deal, and the Amazon deal is that the online shopping retailer are offering a new service plan. Whereas Verizon offer to hold you to a one-year contract minimum (if you buy the handset setting you back $269.99), Amazon will try and tie you down for an extra year.

Although Amazon want you on board for two-years, it is no secret that you will be saving money over the course of the agreement. If you have the money to spend however, we do recommend the Verizon service plan as a lot can change in the smartphone world within a year, so before you know it you could be bottom of the pile when it comes to the latest in mobile phones. Make your choice.

The HTC Droid Incredible has not been out of the news for over a month now and even more so now that the latest and best Android device is now available to the masses. However, things are not all that rosy for those in North Carolina who own this latest smartphone.

It seems that their Incredible handsets have been rebooting on their own, they have tried phone replacements and adjusting wireless settings, but the problem still occurs. According to Engadget, Verizon Wireless is aware of the issue and assumes that it could have something to do with tower switching in these low-signal areas.

For those of you considering holding off your purchase of an HTC Droid Incredible, we can assure you that this is an isolated incident at this time. There have been no other reports of rebooting problems in other states.

We have to wonder why no other Verizon Wireless phone is rebooting in the area? Maybe someone could explain that for our readers. There have also been reports of signal strength problems, which you can read more about in our recent post.

Most would agree that we have been waiting for what seems like a lifetime for Verizon to offer a release date for the HTC Incredible. We finally got the news that we were waiting on, with The Big Red informing us that the new smartphone will be released on April 29, but also informed us that it will become part of the DROID family.

At that time Verizon did not give us any other information, thankfully they have now confirmed the HTC Droid Incredible Specs, but Engadget cannot help but notice how similar they are to the Google Nexus One. We asked the question yesterday – why would Verizon want both handsets?

The main specs include a 3.7-inch OLED touchscreen offering a screen resolution of 800 x 480. The handset comes with the same 1GHz Snapdragon processor as the Nexus One and its Android 2.1 OS.

There are a few subtle differences to the spec sheet though, such as the inclusion of Sense UI on the Incredible, and an awesome 8-megapixel camera – beat that Apple iPhone 4G. We wonder if Verizon will still offer the Nexus One considering their similarities?

Below is the complete list of specs:

1 Ghz Snapdragon processor

3.7″ 480×800 WVGA OLED Touch screen

8GB internal memory

Advanced Speech Recognition

Camera: 8MP camera w/auto–focus and video capture

Embedded Ringtones, vibrate alert and silent

GPS/e911

Integrated Google, Exchange & Facebook contacts

OS: Android 2.1, Google Experience Device

Push Gmail and Exchange

Up to 16GB of optional microSD support

User Interface –next generation Sense UI

Virtual QWERTY Keyboard

So far details regarding the upcoming HTC Incredible have all pointed towards a Verizon release, however information recently posted on IntoMobile hints at a possible T-Mobile USA release of the smartphone.

Recently the HTC Incredible was spotted on Costco’s system, a photo of the system shows the handset listed, however has T-Mobile as the carrier, there is a chance that this is just a data input error, or perhaps the handset is coming to T-Mobile as well as Verizon.

At the moment we must just treat this as a rumor, however if it turns out to be true I am sure it will be welcome addition for T-Mobile customers, especially as at the moment the leading Android-based handset from the carrier is either the Motorola CLIQ XT or the T-Mobile MyTouch.

Would you like to see the HTC Incredible launch on T-Mobile USA?

Following on from the earlier news about the official announcement of the HTC DROID Incredible, we want to get your thoughts on Verizon’s choice of name. Did any of you have an idea that the handset would be the next addition to the DROID family?

The handset previously known as the Incredible has now been given the official name ‘DROID Incredible’. While I liked Incredible on its own, I’m pretty sure I’ll get used to the brand new moniker as well.

Following on from the DROID and the DROID Eris, the DROID Incredible is easily the best out of the three, with some powerhouse specs and an 8 megapixel camera to boast about.

What are your thoughts on the name though? Do you like the new name, or do you just prefer ‘HTC Incredible?’
