Full details regarding the update are unknown, however HTC has apparently improved the way that the handset handles sound when in a call.

If you want to update your HD mini make sure you are running a firmware version of 1.36.XXX.X or older, also if you are own a Vodafone Spain version do not update.

From what we can see the update is very small and aims to fix one pretty minor issue, apparently after installing this update ringtone clarity will be enhanced.

What I like about this is that it is not something that HTC had to release, however they have gone out of their way to make their customers happy, in my opinion certain smartphone manufacturers could benefit from following HTC’s ways, I will name no names, but lets just say they begin with N.

If you would like to install the update on your HTC HD Mini please ensure you back up all important data beforehand, to install the update your handset needs a ROM version equal to 1.35.xxx.x or lower. When you are sure you are ready for the update check out this link.

He posted a brief video showing the handset’s physical design, the video can be seen at the end of this post and also shows us a glimpse of the handset’s Sense UI which looks extremely responsive.

One strange thing about this handset is that beneath the battery cover is a bright yellow coloring, there seems to be no reason for this but certainly worth the mention, the SIM and microSD memory card slots are accessible under this cover, they are not hidden under the handset’s battery.

Given that Windows Phone 7 was revealed at MWC 2010 yesterday it is quite odd to see a 6.5.3-based handset revealed at the same time, that said HTC’s UI keeps the handset feeling fresh and intuitive.

The handset will launch in April 2010, prior to this there should be plenty of detailed reviews of the handset, we will keep you posted as these emerge.

As reported from BGR, the HD Mini is a compact version of the popular HD2 and comes equipped with a 3.2-inch HVGA multi-touch capacitive display, Sense UI, 5 Megapixel camera and a 600MHz MSM7227 processor.

It will run on Windows Mobile 6.5, but sadly will not be upgraded to Windows Phone 7 Series, once that becomes available.

If the HD Mini takes your fancy though, expect it to be released sometime in Q2 throughout Europe and Asia.
