Whenever a new handsets comes to market we like to see what it has to offer, not what the phone makers want us to believe, but consumers. It is for this reason why we found the HTC EVO View 4G review of the battery of interest, as some of their latest smartphones have not performed that great. However, the Flyer doppelganger’s battery is not too shabby.

This is great news for consumers, as they started to think that in order to have all the latest hardware and a crisp display meant trading in battery performance. The original HTC EVO and even the recently released Thunderbolt are fine examples of that. It seems to us that HTC has a tougher job than the likes of Samsung to get a decent battery life, as the Galaxy S II is said to perform well in this area.

You can understand why some consumers would be put off a little with HTC, so it is a breath of fresh air when Engadget found that the battery in this 4G device was long lasting, the word that they used was “Fantastic.” It is so funny how people get so excited about battery life, but for some it can be the make or break of a smartphone.

In a 12-hour day emails were checked, as well as using both Facebook and Twitter notifications, playing Angry Birds, watching videos and even checking weather updates. After doing all that there was a warning saying that there was only 15 percent battery life left – try doing that on an iPhone. If you are in the market for a smart and sensible phone, then you could do a lot worse that then HTC EVO View 4G. Having said that, if you feel you want more then you need to have what is said to be the best smartphone on the market, which we all know is the Samsung Galaxy S II.

Remember a few days ago when we told you that the HTC EVO View 4G tablet would be hitting Sprint on June 24? Well, at the time of our previous post this was unconfirmed and there was no idea of pricing, we can now confirm its official release date and price.

A recent Engadget article features the official Sprint press release, this confirms that the EVO View 4G will be the market’s first 4G tablet when it arrives on June 24, it will cost you $399.99 when you agree a two-year deal. Apparently for a limited time people who purchase this tablet from Sprint will receive a free HTC Scribe digital pen, this would usually cost you $79.99.

Monthly rates start at roughly $35 a month, this gives you unlimited data usage via Sprint’s 4G network and up to 3GB of 3G data. No-matter what price plan you choose you will get unlimited text, picture and video messages at no extra charge.

When this tablet ships it will be running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, however an update to Android 3.0 Honeycomb has been confirmed for a future release. You can find out all you need to know about the Sprint HTC EVO View 4G over at Sprint, a full spec listing has been added along with a 360-degree view.

Do you think that the price is too high? Let us know in the comments section below.

Last week we suggested that the HTC EVO View 4G release date was imminent and Sprint had begun taking pre-orders, now today it looks like the cat is out of the bag thanks to an image which recently showed up on Engadget.

According to the image Sprint will call the HTC Flyer the HTC EVO View 4G, the image clearly shows that it will become available on June 24th, you can see the image for yourself showing this date here.

Prior to this news Sprint had promised to ship the EVO View 4G “this summer”, this June 24th release date fits in perfectly with this promise, however it has not yet been confirmed officially by Sprint.

To find out official information regarding this tablet as it is announced you should register for updates via this link, with roughly three weeks between now and the proposed release date we expect an official announcement pretty soon.

If you are still considering whether the EVO View 4G is the right tablet for you check out the official product overview and technical specifications here, we wonder just how popular Sprint’s tablet offering will become as it has pretty much all of the features which people want from a modern-day tablet.

Will you buy the Sprint HTC EVO View 4G?

We have some important news for those of you who are seriously considering picking up the HTC EVO View 4G tablet from Sprint. It has been reported that consumers will need to pay a separate free on top of the device if they want to make use of the stylus pen.

Considering that the stylus pen is an integral part of the overall features on the View 4G, you would have thought that retailers would include this in the box, but sadly it may not be the case with the View 4G, also known as the HTC Flyer.

Instead, customers may have to pay $80 or just below £50 on top of the tablet price in a move which is sure to enrage customers who are furious that HTC are trying to get a separate fee for an accessory that should be included in the box – are you one of these consumers?

So far, HTC are yet to respond to the consumer backlash, but the story is currently spreading around like wildfire. You can see a leaked image provided by BGR which shows the proof that the stylus is sold separately. Take a look and let us know your thoughts on this.

Has HTC made a huge mistake here in your opinion? Have you changed your mind about getting one, or is this a minor issue for you?

We have some important news for those of you planning to pick up the HTC Flyer or HTC EVO View 4G as it’s also known. The device is now available for pre-order for US customers and Best Buy will be the only place you can get one for the time being.

If you’re interested in picking up HTC’s first tablet, you can now pre-order one on Best Buy’s website here, priced at $499, as reported from Phandroid. The pre-sale started yesterday (April 24th) and according to Best Buy’s official press release, the device will launch later ‘this Spring’, but no official date was mentioned.

Just to refresh you on specs, the Flyer is a 7-inch device with specs such as a 1.5Ghz single core Qualcomm processor, 1Gb of RAM, a 5 megapixel rear camera with 1.3MP front-facing camera and 32GB of internal storage, expandable via MicroSD card.

From early inspection, the HTC Flyer looks like a very fast device even if it only comes with a single-core processor, but it’s important to note that it will still ship with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and not Honeycomb like most of the other competitors out at the moment.

Who is planning to get one from Best Buy for $499 – is it a good deal in your opinion, or is one of the other tablets on the market such as the LG G-Slate and Motorola Xoom a better option?

We have yet more news on the Android 3.0 Honeycomb release saga in relation to the upcoming HTC EVO View 4G or HTC Flyer tablet, and it’s good news. We previously told you that the device will be shipping with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but now you may be in for a surprise.

That’s because Sprint, who has the exclusive rights to the HTC EVO View 4G in the US, has just updated their website online, to list ‘Android 3.0′ as one of the main features of the device along with other specs, as reported from Phandroid.

It’s unsure whether the information is just a typo, but it definitely hasn’t been removed by the carrier yet – you can view it on their website here. Considering that much debate was brewing about this device shipping with Gingerberad and how much of a disappointment it was, it’s excellent news and a potential deal changer if it does indeed ship with Honeycomb.

Then it puts it right into the frame up against the iPad 2, Motorola Xoom, LG G-Slate and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 – but that 1.5Ghz single-core processor spec may still be a potential staller for you.

For now though, bask in the joy that this could be shipping with Honeycomb this Summer – will you be getting one?

We have some good news for those of you planning to pick up the HTC Flyer tablet later on this year, as HTC has once again confirmed that the device will be receiving an update to Android 3.0 Honeycomb after release – we have an update on that for you.

When asked a direct question on Twitter if the Flyer would be getting the Honeycomb update or not, HTC replied with the following answer, as reported from Engadget:

”We will be offering a Honeycomb upgrade when it’s made available. What feature are you most excited about?”

Obviously, it would have been better if they gave us an actual indication when the update will be coming out, but at least it puts potential Flyer owner’s minds at ease knowing that the device which ships with Gingerbread will be upgraded soon after release. It will be pretty disasterous if they don’t get Honeycomb out during Summer at least, so we’re predicting that you won’t have to wait to long for it.

Who is planning to get a Flyer or EVO View 4G (Sprint’s version) from HTC? Are you concerned that it ‘only’ comes with a single-core 1.5Ghz processor, unlike the rest of the tablet competition which ships with a 1Ghz dual core processor at least? Despite that unusual processor spec, the device does look pretty promising we have to say.

Along with the official announcement of the HTC EVO 3D handset, Sprint has just gone live with another – the HTC EVO View 4G, which is Sprint’s version of the HTC Flyer tablet that we’ve told you about before.

The EVO View 4G will be a 7-inch device, and will be available to buy sometime this Summer, again no solid date as with the HTC EVO 3D. The specs are fairly interesting though, and the device will certainly pose a question as to whether or not it can compete with the likes of the iPad 2, Xoom and Galaxy Tab 10.1.

We say this, as the HTC EVO View 4G won’t possess a dual-core processor like the tablets we mentioned above. Instead it will come with a super speedy 1.5Ghz processor, which will obviously make this the fastest single core tablet on the market. Other specs include a 5 megapixel rear camera coupled with a 1.3MP front camera for video chats.

You’ll also get 1GB of RAM, 4G support via Sprint’s WiMAX network, 32GB built-in memory and support for more via MicroSD, and also HTC’s new Scribe technology using the included stylus pen. No mention about which version of Android this will be running yet though. The pictures appear to show Froyo, but we’re guessing HTC will be put under a lot of pressure to have this running Gingerbread by the time Summer approaches.

What are your thoughts on the HTC EVO View 4G? Is it a good enough tablet for you, compared with the dual-core competition that has already been announced? We’re looking forward to seeing just how quick this 1.5Ghz processor is. Stay tuned for further analysis. You can view the official press release from Sprint here.
