Having never bought into the 3D gimmick, I do find it hard to wonder why people get excited over this technology coming to handsets? Having seen first hand a 3D smartphone I can see the benefits, but the negatives more than outweighs the positives. It’s for this reason why consumers have been sharing what tweaks they feel the HTC EVO 3D needs – although not many seems to be moaning about the visual gimmick.

We cannot say for certain if 3D will be a long-term feature on phones, and movies, but it’s here to stay for now. However, we do believe that holographic technology will one day be the ultimate. There are a number of 3D smartphones on the market, and for some the EVO 3D was the best offering, but the jury is still out on that one. The reason we say this is because consumer have felt let down by HTC again due to poor battery life and other such issues.

Some of our readers have been asking if HTC could do away with 3D and just make it 2D; they could but this would just make it like some of their other handsets on the market. The placement of the fixed controls is another issue, as users have complained about hitting them by accident, which as you know will become a bit of a nuisance.

Some people have said that the battery life is not as bad as it has been made out, I guess we have to except that there will be a trade-off when you consider that two lenses are in use when taking an image. The one thing that will help you save power massively is to turn 4G off when not in use. Only switch it on when it’s needed.

There are a few tweaks that would have benefitted the EVO 3D, and that’s a dual front-facing camera, stereo speakers with more power, fix the range of security issues (which HTC is now doing), larger screen to appreciate 3D, as well as an improved screen.

These are just a handful of things that needs to be improved on the EVO 3D, so let’s see what HTC offers us if and when they release a second-edition.

3D technology is all around us nowadays, yet there are very few smartphones that feature the 3D support available on the market. The gaming market seems to be taking full advantage of the new dimension, with the release of the Nintendo 3DS but so far only the only smartphone to be 3D enabled and available in the UK is the LG Optimus 3D. This won’t be the case for long it seems as the HTC EVO 3D has just gone up for pre-order at the Carphone Warehouse.

The device has a passive 3D screen and is capable of video-recording in 3D. the HTC EVO 3D is one of several high quality smartphones which are due for release next month and can reportedly be purchased now for £36 a month with a 2 year contract or can be bought outright, though it has a fairly expensive price at £599.

The EVO 3D is the first handset from HTC of the 3D variety. The company will be hoping to make more of an impact with it than the LG has with the Optimus 3D, because being as disappointing as it has with complaints over appalling battery life and being the only 3D smartphone released in the UK so far, it’s not giving the technology the justice it deserves.

For those that are not familiar with the EVO 3D, here’s a reminder of what the pre-order will get you. Firstly it has a large 4.3” display making it ideal for watching those 3D video-recordings, movies and other supported content and a resolution of 540 x 960. Also with the 3D support aside it is still a very powerful device with 1GB RAM and speedy 1.2GHz processor.

What sort of an impact do you think this device will have on the smartphone market? Will you be pre-ordering it?

If you are a Vodafone customer in the UK, and were looking forward to a brand new shiny phone, lets say the HTC EVO 3D, then unfortunately we have some rather disappointing news to tell you. Vodafone UK today confirmed that they have put their HTC EVO 3D release plans in the trash due to delays with the launch of the smartphone.

Customers who have registered and subscribed to updates regarding the HTC EVO 3D are to be notified about the decision shortly, say Vodafone UK. They then go on to plug advertisements for more up and coming exciting handsets that they are set to offer the public in the near future; such as the HTC Sensation and the Samsung Galaxy S2.

The following announcement comes straight from Vodafone: -

“We’ve decided that due to delays to the launch of the device, we no longer plan to include the EVO 3D in our smartphone range. We will be contacting customers who have registered for updates about the device to make them aware of this decision shortly.”

“We realise this will come as a disappointment to some people but we already offer some fantastic phones, like the HTC Sensation and Galaxy S2, with some really exciting handsets in the pipeline.”

We are not exactly sure of the reason why Vodafone UK have decided to scrub the HTC EVO 3D, but sources tell us that it could be down to the delays, which would render the phone not suitable to compete with other rival handsets that they are planning to offer in the coming months.

Back in March, we predicted that the HTC EVO 3D would see a release in Europe after being released by Sprint in the US, and although it was not tied to any specific carrier, we had our money firmly placed with Vodafone UK to take it. As you can see, we were right but now all that seems to have gone down the pan with unexpected delays.

Although it might not seem relevant now, you can still look at some of the specs for this handset which include a full glasses-free 3D display, and the ability to shoot photos and videos in 3-dimensions too.

Whilst looking at Vodafone UK’s ‘coming soon‘ page, we found nothing extraordinary to note bar the BlackBerry Bold 9900. They offer no other glasses-free 3D handsets, maybe Vodafone just don’t take to the glasses-free 3D devices at all.

Were you one of the many customers expecting to get a HTC EVO 3D? If so, what will you be replacing it with?

A few years ago Sprint was not a carrier that was able to mix it with the big boys, so just shows how a few years and a number of smart moves have been able to change things around for them. The first handset that saw them on their way to recovery was the Palm Pre, and although it was not the iPhone killer that we had been told, it did get things started. Now in 2011 Sprint has upped its game again, they now have two new handsets, the HTC EVO 4G and the EVO 3D, and they could be about to get the iPhone 5 as well.

This would be a great achievement for Sprint, as they will have these road warriors doing battle with each other, and it will be you the user who will come out on top. Before top handsets were only saved for the big two, AT&T and Verizon, along with T-Mobile having the odd few. Now that Sprint can offer these phones it has opened the market right up, and that means that each carrier will try to offer an incentive to get the custom.

Sales of the HTC EVO 3D will not increase, as this is only available on Sprint. However, as the iPhone 5 might soon be on all four major U.S. carriers things could get very interesting for Sprint. Now we have no reason why their version of the iPhone 5 will not sell in huge numbers, but they could find that their EVO 3D and 4G outselling it, as they will not have the other three carriers trying to offer the same handsets to their customers.

Both AT&T and Verizon has had it their own way this year with the iPhone 4, as well as doing very well with the sale of other handsets. However, this could all be about to change since the big two introduced tiered data plans. This could play into Sprint’s hands, as AT&T and Verizon customers could consider jumping ship, due to the fact that they only stayed with them for the unlimited data plans.

Such a move by the big two carriers could now blow the smartphone market wide-open. Now we would have said that T-Mobile would have been able to pick up the pieces if their rivals customers defected, but as they are now expected to merge with AT&T this has also played into Sprint’s hands.

Seeking Alpha has been looking into the future growth of Sprint thanks to them now offering some very capable handsets, and the next five years do look promising. However, we must not forget how quickly things can turnaround – but the future is bright for Sprint.

We have a word of caution for those of you planning to pick up the impressive HTC EVO 3D handset on Sprint, as it has been reported that the device is suffering from a bout of overheating issues.

The device has only just been released on Sprint, but it has been revealed that HTC may have a huge problem on their hands if it turns out the device is prone to overheating. According to an article published over at Phandroid, users have been complaining about their EVO 3D overheating when connecting the device to the official USB charging dock.

Furthermore, some users have even reported on the device overheating when simply placing the device in pockets. At the moment, we’re unsure how widespread this problem is at the moment, but based on user feedback we’ve read it seems to be affecting quite a lot of you.

If there is a genuine problem with the device, then HTC will need to determine if this issue is hardware or software related. If it is hardware, then obviously it becomes a much bigger problem at hand, because it’s not something that can be fixed with a simple patch update.

The HTC EVO 3D packs some mighty hardware specs such as a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, dual 3D cameras, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and 1GB of RAM amongst other things. We really hope it’s not the case where the amount of hardware is having an effect on the battery life and components inside, as that would become a real stumbling block for HTC and Sprint as consumers change their minds about picking up an EVO 3D.

If it is confirmed that the device is prone to overheating, then not only is it a serious problem in relation to killing battery life on the device, but it’s also a fire hazard more importantly, especially if it gets hot easily when resting inside a pocket. Hopefully HTC or Sprint will comment on this officially so it can put users minds to ease.

Once we hear back from either company, we’ll be sure to let you know what they say. If you are in possession of a HTC EVO 3D and have experienced these problems or know somebody else that has, let us know how frequently it occurs for you. The good news is that Sprint is apparently aware of the issue, so we have a feeling that an announcement is incoming by the end of the week.

Before you begin to think that there is now Netflix support for HTC EVO 3D, then think again. What we have here is a workaround, which we will explain for you. Those of you who have the EVO 4D will be feeling smug right now, as they have support for the Netflix app, but help is at hand in a round about way.

If you do not feel like waiting for full support, then all you will need is EVO 4G’s APK. It takes seconds to download and then you will be able to watch Netflix on your new portable 3D device. If you wish to use the download, then you will need to visit Pocketables Forum.

Now when your friends tell you that Netflix will not work on your HTC EVO 3D, all you need to do is get your handset out and show them it in action. We cannot understand why it has not been made available in the normal way, instead of having to go the long way round in order to start streaming movies and TV shows?

There are a few things that you will need to do with your phone first in order for the SDK to work. The first thing is to enable the handset so that you can install apps from an unknown source. This can be located in settings and applications; just make certain that you have Unknown sources selected.

The next step is to download from the link that we gave you above. Do not worry about this download, as it is exactly the same as the one for the EVO 4G on the Android market. The last step is to just install the app on your phone. Once installed you will be able to enjoy Netflix how those with the 4G do. This is not the best solution, but is the only one available at this time, as we cannot be certain when HTC and Netflix will work together on a bona fide app for the EVO 3G? While you wait for this app, here are some of the best HTC EVO 3G apps on the market so far.

There is just one issue with this though, and that is Netflix still does not offer streaming in 3D, which seems a bit strange to us. More 3D devices are being launched all the time, but it seems as though support is a little slow – although this was the same for Blu-ray, as some movies are still not out on the preferred format.

It is not due out for another couple of weeks yet but there are already accessories available for the device.

Having previously brought you news of the release date and price that Sprint will be offering for the EVO 3D we now bring you news of the company’s official HTC micro-USB dock for the handset. It is a sleek looking design which allows for easy safe storage keeping your desktop neat and tidy.

The accessory was spotted over at Best Buy in the coming soon section which could mean you won’t be able to get your hands on the device until the launch day of the HTC smartphone.

We have recently had speculation that the iPhone could be finding its way to the Sprint network. But there are a number of good handsets confirmed for the network, so today we are looking at 10 upcoming Sprint phones not to miss in 2011/2012.

One handset which will likely be at the top of many Sprint customers wish lists will be the HTC EVO 3D. Due to be released on the 24th of this month the handset offers a qHD 3D capable display, and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. One feature which makes the device really stand out is the dual-lens camera for 3D capture.

Expected to be released sometime in July the feature packed Motorola PHOTON 4G will also get some attention from Sprint users. This handset comes with a dual-core Tegra 2 processor, and has an 8 megapixel camera. You will also find a 4.3-inch qHD display and 1GB RAM.

Sprint are also set to get two new tablets in the coming months with the HTC EVO View 4G coming out on June 24. This is the Sprint version of the Flyer tablet which has a 7-inch display, two cameras, and Android 2.3. The BlackBerry PlayBook is also due to hit the network soon.

Another handset the Samsung D600 which will run Android 2.3.3 on a 1GHz processor is also due to launch sometime in the future. Other confirmed handsets include the Samsung Within, HTC Kingdom, HTC Mazaa, Motorola Titanium, and Motorola Atrix 4G.

There are some good looking handsets coming out for Sprint consumers, are you planning on getting any of the ones listed above?

Earlier today we confirmed the release date and price for the Sprint HTC EVO View 4G, now we have all of the details you wanted to hear regarding the Sprint HTC EVO 3D.

As we suggested earlier this month the Sprint HTC EVO 3D release date will come on June 24, it will cost you $199.99 when you agree a two-year deal, if you are in a rush to get this impressive smartphone you will be glad to hear that Sprint Stores nationwide will open at 8.00am (local time) on this date.

You can see the official press release over at Engadget, the EVO 3D requires a Premium data add-on which will cost you $10 per month (on top of your standard monthly charge), if you want to use the mobile hot spot option you will have to pay an additional $29.99 per month.

You can find out everything you need to know about the HTC EVO 3D here, as you probably already know it boasts 3D image and video capture, a massive 4.3-inch qHD screen and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor it should attract lots of interest. To pre-order yours simply buy a $50 Sprint Gift Card at a Sprint Store as your deposit.

With 4G connectivity, a dual-core processor and 3D capabilities the $199.99 price tag sounds great to us, will you buy the HTC EVO 3D?

We have some great news for those of you planning to pick up the highly anticipated HTC EVO 3D smartphone from Sprint, as we have a new release date update...

We have some great news for those of you planning to pick up the highly anticipated HTC EVO 3D smartphone from Sprint, as we have a new release date update for you now, and it provides strong evidence that the handset will be available at the end of June.

The information has surfaced via an image that has been uploaded online, and provided by the guys over at Phandroid. It reveals that the HTC EVO 3D will be launching on Sprint on June 24th, and that you’ll be able to pick one up from RadioShack, giving you an additional retailer aside from Sprint direct.

Furthermore, the flyer also reveals that you can pre-order a device with RadioShack right now, so we would strongly recommend you head to your nearest dealer and quiz them about the June 24th date to see if they confirm it, or pretend that they have no idea what you’re talking about.

The June 24th date is a stark contrast to previous rumors suggesting that the phone could launch on June 4th. Well that doesn’t appear to be very accurate now, so June 24th is the new date that you should all pay attention to until we hear anything else.

Does the HTC EVO 3D interest you or not? It probably has some of the best hardware specs seen on an Android device so far in our opinion.
