HTC, Google and Verizon have long standing relationships. HTC being the primary force behind the Google Nexus One and plenty of Android based smartphones such as the HTC Droid Incredible with Verizon acting as the wireless provider.

The only viable tablet on show so far is the Apple iPad, and although the Dell Streak is available now, it still lacks certain features that do not live up to the iPad’s standards. The Samsung Galaxy Tab, which is also an Android based tablet is set to launch this fall.

Aside from the above, the HTC Chrome based tablet would be a welcome addition, especially being built around an nVidia Tegra 2 processor, 1280×720 multitouch display, 2GB RAM, 32GB of SSD storage, in-built webcam, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G networking according to Download Squad.

Download Squad also suggest that this tablet will be worlds apart from other tablets on the market due to running Google’s new Chrome OS rather than their Android platform currently on an array of different devices from smartphones to set-top boxes.

It is also thought that there could be a possibility of the Chrome tablet being heavily subsidized and would be substantially cheaper, if not free with a Verizon data contract of some sort.

If this is true, Google may also be pushing their new Chrome Web Store that we talked about in a previous article.
