HP has been very busy of late when it comes to releasing new laptops and they will start 2013 where they left off in 2012, and that’s by launching even more devices. HP has been accused in the past of a very confusing lineup, and the two new Pavilion Sleekbooks certainly adds to that confusion. Firstly there’s the Pavilion Sleekbook and secondly there is the Pavilion TouchSmart Sleekbook, with the latter model being of the touschscreen variety.

On first glance one has to wonder why HP has stuck with the plastic design when many of their rivals are now adopting aluminum, it certainly shows that they do not wish to innovate with the design of this range of laptops, maybe there is more innovation to come with the hardware?

The HP Pavilion Sleekbook and Pavilion TouchSmart Sleekbook specs do differ slightly; both use the AMD Trinity processor, but it’s the TouchSmart that will benefit from the AMD A8 chip along with a decent 6GB of RAM, although this seems to be the norm these days. The touchcsreen version also starts with a 750GB hard drive, whereas the non-touch model starts with an A6 chip and 500GB of storage.

Both models come with a 15.6-inch display, which as we mentioned above don’t look that impressive when mated to a plastic casing, and the three color choices do draw you to the cheap look and feel of these new laptops from HP.

The HP Pavilion Sleekbook price is to start at $499, while the slightly more impressive Pavilion TouchSmart Sleekbook price will start at $699. Head over to Engadget to see how ugly these new Sleekbooks look, and we can already see two things, they look like they attract a lot of dust, and there seems to be some glare on the screen as well. Also what is with the name of these devices, they sound more like a tongue twister rather than a name for a laptop.

Choosing the correct HP Pavilion model to suit your needs is a hard task, recently HP added the dv6z quad edition to its long-list of offerings, prices start at just $649.99, which is not bad considering all models feature on of AMD’s accelerated quad-core processors today we will tell you what you are getting for money.

When you buy one of the new dv6z quad edition laptops there are lots of options available, today to give you some idea of pricing we will talk about the baseline configuration which retails for $649.99 and the recommended configuration which retails for $949.99, however if money is not an issue for you it is possible to spend over $2000.

The $649.99 model usually retails for $799.99, however if you head over to HP’s site today you get an instant rebate of $150.00, we think that specs you get for your money are more than fair. This model runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and features and AMD Quad-Core A6-3400M accelerated processor, AMD Radeon Discrete-Class graphics (with VGA and HDMI out), 6GB DDR3 RAM, a 640GB 5400RPM HDD, a 15.6-inch LED HP Brightview display which supports a resolution of up to 1366×768 and a 6-cell Li-Ion battery which allows for up to 5.5 hours of battery life. As you would presume you get a built-in webcam, WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth, it also features a fingerprint reader and you get a free upgrade to a Blu-ray player which can also burn DVDs.

If the above model doesn’t cut it for you this model may interest you, this currently costs $949.98, but it usually retails for $1,119.98. You get everything mentioned above, however some of the specs are upgraded such as the AMD Quad-Core A8-3500M accelerated processor, 1GB GDDR5 Radeon HD Dual graphics, a 750GB HDD and a 2-year HP Care Pack.

To give you an idea of upgrades available the faster processor you can go for is the AMD Quad-Core A8-3530MX and you can choose up to 16GB DDR3 RAM, as for storage we were surprised to see no SSD options, however you can choose a 1TB HDD if you please. If battery life is worry there are a few options, you can either upgrade to a high capacity 6 cell battery for an additional $14 or perhaps choose a 9 cell battery instead which will cost you an additional $21, you could always get a 6 cell and a 9 cell battery for an extra $60. There are also plenty of software titles which you can purchase if you please.

You can find out more about the new HP dv6z quad edition laptops here and perhaps buy on of them, what disappoints you about the specs?

When buying a laptop today it can be hard to differentiate between all of the different models, therefore we thought we would pull together all of the relevant HP Pavilion dm4-1165dx information we could find to help you decide whether this is the correct model for you.

At the time of this post Best Buy were selling this model for $699.99 (here), for your money you get a 14-inch LED HD display supporting a resolution of 1366 x 768, an Intel Core i5 (2.4GHz) processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM, a 500GB SATA hard drive, a dual-layer DVD writer, Intel HD graphics, a built-in webcam, cardreader, Ethernet port, WiFi a/b/g/n, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, a 6-cell lithium-ion battery, HDMI-out and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, you can see more specs here.

There are a two features which help differentiate this model from cheaper alternatives, these are its embedded 4G WiMAX connectivity (requires a carrier) and its Intel Wireless Display support (requires adapter), both of these technologies should help increase the laptop’s appeal.

If you check out PCMag you can find out a little bit more about this laptop, they gave it a very good editor score of 4/5, they were impressed with its performance and scores in benchmark tests, in fact the only thing they weren’t to keen on was its touchpad.

So far 16 Best Buy customers have submitted user reviews, 10 of which gave it a 5 star rating (out of 5), you can see all 16 reviews here, to summarize people seem extremely happy with its performance and display, however not to keen on its value for money.
