Now we are back to the auto industry as a new Honda recall in December 2011 is announced, which concerns global airbag problems that have lead to deaths.

The Japanese car manufacturer has announced that it is to recall around 304,000 of its vehicles that have faulty airbags. USA Today is reporting that the airbags may inflate in an accident with too much pressure, which could cause metal and plastic particles flying resulting in injuries or even death.

Honda have stated that there have been twenty reported incidents so far regarding the issue, which have resulted in two deaths in the US in 2009. This latest Honda recall is affecting the Accord, Civic, Odyssey, Pilot, CR-V and other models, manufactured in 2001 and 2002.

In the US the recall is affecting 273,000 vehicles, Canada has 27,000, Japan almost 2,000, and 2,000 in other countries. Over in Europe there are 359 vehicles affected with 200 of them in Germany, 158 in Israel, and 1 in the UK.

This follows on from recalls made for the same problem in 2008 and 2009, as well as last year. It now covers around 2 million vehicles around the world according to Honda. Hajime Kaneko of Honda said the problem is caused by the use of the wrong material used to deploy the airbags. Before the initial cause of the airbag problem was excessive moisture in the propellant used to deploy them.

Honda has apologized about the recall and feels this latest recall will finally sort the problem, and expects no more in the future. The company is also recalling 912 airbag service parts that were sold for installation in vehicles that were to be repaired after an accident.

2010 Auto Recall Roundup: Not All Toyota http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/12/23/2010-auto-recall-roundup-not-all-toyota/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/12/23/2010-auto-recall-roundup-not-all-toyota/#comments Thu, 23 Dec 2010 13:48:10 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=118009 2010 has not been a great year for the auto industry when it comes to recalls. However, things have improved over recent years. If we were to ask what auto recall you remember the most chances are you will say Toyota, but there have been a number of others – but not as high profile.

Ward’s Auto has been looking into this, which we learned via Engadget and we were shocked when we found out that there were 136 recalls in all, which affected 17.2 million vehicles. If you thought that that figure was high, then you will be shocked to know that 2000 saw more than 24.3 million auto recalls – suddenly things do not seem that bad.

So far Toyota has recalled 6.6 million vehicles, GM 2.8 million, Honda 2.2 million, with Nissan Chrysler and Ford having 1.9 million, 1.1 million and 562,901 vehicle recalls respectively. Looking at those figures we can see that The Blue Oval has improved this year, as 2009 saw the Detroit automaker recall over 4.5 million vehicles.

To get a greater insights into these 2010 auto recalls autorecalls.us has researched the NHTSA database, taking all the handwork out of it for you. We know that all the details will now be out of date, but this is great for those who are studying the past 12 months who for some reason forget that their vehicle was involved in a recall in the first place.

Some of the most recent recalls include Cadillac And Buick Models, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, and many more.

Cars Recall October 2010: Toyota, Honda, BMW and Nissan Lists http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/10/30/cars-recall-october-2010-toyota-honda-bmw-and-nissan-lists/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/10/30/cars-recall-october-2010-toyota-honda-bmw-and-nissan-lists/#comments Sat, 30 Oct 2010 07:36:44 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=112164 This week has been a pretty busy month as far as car recalls goes. We had as many as four major recalls announced, and we have a full recap of the problems and models affected in case you missed anything.

You could argue that BMW has been the busiest of the companies mentioned above, as they actually announced two separate recalls in October, with one to do with power-braking issues, and the most recent one over faulty fuel pumps. You can read a recap of which models were affected by visiting our previous reports in the relevant links above.

Towards the end of October, Toyota then announced a 1.5 million vehicle recall due to braking problems which affected models such as the Toyota Crown, Mark X, Lexus IS, Avalon, Highlander and Lexus RX.

Shortly after that, Honda also issued a recall to do with the same problems as Toyota, but their recall only affected specific models in the Acura RL and Honda Odyssey.

That then brings us up to speed with the last recall of this month, and the honor goes to Nissan, as the company announced their third-biggest recall in history, with over 2.1 million vehicles recalled due to engine problems. Their recall is also a global one and it affects popular models such as the Nissan March, Micra and Cube.

How do you feel about all these recalls? More importantly, do you have a vehicle which is affected by any of the problems mentioned above? If so, get in touch with us.

Honda Recall October 2010: List of Models Affected http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/10/23/honda-recall-october-2010-list-of-models-affected/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/10/23/honda-recall-october-2010-list-of-models-affected/#comments Sat, 23 Oct 2010 11:02:55 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=111747 The dust hasn’t even settled on Toyota’s latest global recall, but now Honda has gotten in on the fact too, by announcing a new recall with problems identical to the ones stated by Toyota this past week.

As reported from NYT, Honda has announced that 470,000 vehicles are due to be recalled over the same brake fluid issue which was the main problem behind the Toyota recall which we reported on Thursday.

Toyota and Honda both use the same Advics Company supplier, but Honda’s list of affected models are far fewer than Toyota, as they only include the Acura RL and Honda Odyssey vehicles produced between 2005 and 2007.

There has been no reports of injuries yet, while Toyota advise worried customers to contact them if they notice a warning light on their brake fluid lights.

Are you affected by this recall? – Let us know your thoughts on this.
