Said to be the successor to the ever popular CRX hatchback from way back in the 1980’s, Honda are hoping to produce a mainstream fun to drive hybrid.

Currently the CR-Z has a 1.5-liter VTEC four cylinder pushing out 122 horsepower, but the question is does this sort of power plant class it as sporty?

What would fit the sporty image would be either a V6 or 2.5-liter four cylinder attached to the Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid system that AutoBlog’s source says could be hiding in the wings.

Honda is also working on a electric system like the one found on the 2011 Chevy Volt with an extended range, and is said to be looking into the V6 hybrid route for SUV’s and minivans for the American market. Hit the link for more information and pictures.
