The modified Mugen Honda CR-Z is a much-anticipated version from the standard model, which as we know was not considered hot enough. There are now some official photos of the tuned-up car, and we have to say looks very nice indeed. Mugen hopes that this will wet our appetite just enough ahead of the Goodwood Festival of Speed unveiling.

These are the first photos of the car, and now you will be able to see what sort of design flares the tuner has gone for. Autoblog reports that the Mugen Honda CR-Z will have a supercharged 1.5-liter engine along with an electric motor for some extra power. Together they will help produce 197 horsepower, which when you consider how light it is, the car will go like stink.

Mugen has done all the calculations and believes that their latest creation will have as much acceleration as the Civic Type R. We have yet to see any proof of this, as it is currently a concept car. It is hoped that if the car gets a good enough reaction at Goodwood, then we could see a production version.

So we know that the Mugen Honda CR-Z would be able to handle itself around a track, but what about every day driving? Well, it is expected to achieve 50mpg in eco mode and 30mph plus when you start using some of that power from the supercharger.

Do you think that the Mugen Honda CR-Z will be well received?

AutoBlog recently got their hands on the new Honda CR-Z 2011, a lot of people have shown interest in the model, however it looks as if on the whole it is a bit of a disappointment.

The high-tech looking design of the CR-Z is pretty desirable, you can see a full gallery of high resolution images here, alternatively scroll down to see a couple of shots of the car.

The CR-Z is powered by a 1.5-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder engine, as it is a hybrid there is also a small electric motor. The petrol engine creates 122 horsepower whereas the electric motor creates just 13 horespower.

AutoBlog were unhappy the CR-V’s fuel economy, the six-speed manual version that they reviewed delivered just 31-37 miles per gallon, usually similar vehicles deliver roughly 35/39 mpg.

The CR-Z offers three different driving modes, eco, normal and sport, eco mode unsurprisingly makes the CR-Z sluggish, however sports mode isn’t great for mpg, therefore normal mode seems to be the perfect blend.

As standard the CR-Z features a set of 16-inch alloys wheels, however if you prefer you can buy 17 inch alloys instead.

If you like the look of the Honda CR-Z you should check out the source link below for a full review, if you are looking to buy this car it will cost roughly $20,000 – $23,000.
