The 3D evolution is now here, as we can already see with the number of 3D TVs, cameras and camcorders on the market, as well as phones. We also know that the PS3 uses this technology as well, but it seems as if things are about to change for the console. Sony has demoed PS3 Dual-view 3D TV Mode, this holographic technology is a little like the 2010 Jaguar XJ dual-view screen, and will work in much of the same way.

This will certainly be a huge step for multiplayer gamers who play at home with friends or family members. Two players will now be able to sit in the same room and play on the same TV without an annoying split-screen. Pocket-lint was lucky enough to see a demo of this new tech in action – if only they offered up a video of the event.

With the technology you should not sit in the middle of the screen while playing the PS3 in 3D dual-mode, as your eyes could begin to hurt, just choose which side you wish to view if you are not playing the game. One good thing about this new tech, you do not have to worry about it being illegal in the U.S., as it was feared for the Jaguar.

Sony has yet to offer details as to when the new model will be launched on the PS3, and if you will need a specially designed TV or just use of a standard 3D model? Let us hope that children do not start complaining to their parents that they feel dizzy.

We have to wonder why 3D dual-view has taken so long to be implemented, as the technology was first announced at CES 2008. However, CNET News did point out that this was demoed on thick projection TVs. They added that a couple would be able to sit in front (to the side) of the TV and watch two different programs. However, they would need headphones on, as it would become confusing.

Do you think that gamers will benefit from 3D dual-view mode?

While I do prefer playing multiplayer games on my very own screen, it is nice to have a change sometimes and play split-screen. Although being able to see what the other player is doing and where they are going, can turn out to be rather distracting.

However, according to an article by Brian Ashcraft over at kotaku.com, it may not be a problem with future technologies. While participating in a recent interview with Develop, SCEE’s studio director Mike Hocking spoke about new technologies the company is working on.

This reportedly includes holographic techniques for the PlayStation 3, which Hocking said will be interesting for future 3D titles. The technology they are working on will allow 2 gamers to play on the same screen, but without being able to see the view of the other player.

While it all sounds pretty exciting, gamesradar.com points out that we shouldn’t expect a PS3 HoloMove to be arriving any time in the near future. How do you like the sound of holographic gaming in the future? Maybe you like the sound of a holographic 3D TV to play them on too.

3D TV is still in its infancy, and we are already looking towards the next big thing, Holographic Technology. You have wonder if hologram will be the next 3DTVs? There are suggestions that this technology could be ready for launch even before the current 3D TV tech has had a chance to get off the ground.

The idea of Holographic TV has been in my mind since 1977, the year that I first watched Star Wars: A New Hope. How many of you thought that it was cool seeing Princess Leia projected out of R2D2? I just love it when science fiction becomes reality, something that has happened on a number of occasions from gadgets seen on Star trek.

Holographic technology has been a bit slow, but recent advancements means that things are moving ahead once again. The issue used to be with refresh rates, with one imaging changing every few minutes, this has now been increased to one change every two seconds. However, this is still a long way from 30fps.

You can see in the video below that the prototype has a 10-inch photorefractive polymer screen, and lasers are then used to project an image onto it. The University of Arizona has already started work testing a 17-inch version, so things are starting to move at a much faster rate.

How long do you think it will be before you will have a holographic dynamic 3D in your home?
