Richard Widmark has died at the age of 93

It has been reported that Hollywood star Richard Widmark has died at the age of 93 after a long illness.

Richard’s wife, Susan Blanchard, said that Richard died at his home in Roxbury on Monday.

According to The Associated Press Susan would not provide details of his illness and said funeral arrangements are private.

She said that “It was a big shock, but he was 93”.

Richard was born in Minnesota in 1914, and began his career in radio and theatre before playing cackling killer Tommy Udo in Kiss of Death.

Richard’s last film role was in the 1991 thriller True Colours, although he made occasional appearances afterwards in TV documentaries.

Richard said “I now find the whole moviemaking process irritating,” he said in 1987. I don’t have the patience anymore.”
