According to a recent article posted on Bloomberg, Hewlett-Packard Co shares recently dropped by 9.3% in premarket trading today, prior to the drop HP shares were worth $48.20, however the 9.3% drop equates to $4.45, therefore they currently stand at $43.75.

HP expects revenue of $130 billion to $131.5 billion for the year ending October, this is quite a bit lower than FactSet’s $132.91 billion prediction and some are suggesting that revenue growth is becoming a huge problem for the company.

It will be interesting to see what 2011 brings HP, back in 2010 they acquired Palm, now we are beginning to see new smartphones and tablets emerge running webOS, these releases could potentially be a huge factor in the company’s success this year.

According to one analyst, HP’s long-term prospects are good, ignoring the smartphone and tablet market HP also has a strong future in the commercial PC, server, storage, networking and printing businesses, therefore it is hard to say why there are financial worries surrounding the company.

In September, 2010, HP named Léo Apotheker as the CEO and President of HP, therefore it will be interesting to see if things improve in 2011, with the HP Pre 3, HP Veer and HP Touchpad hitting the market this summer we could see a huge change in direction in HP’s business, I guess we will have to wait and see…

If you would like to find out in-depth information regarding HP’s finances check out this article.

Do you think that HP has a strong future?

When Hewlett-Packard acquired Palm many experts suggested that they may use webOS on portable computers and tablets, we are now hearing that HP will be holding a press conference on February 9th where we presume they will officially unveil a webOS-based tablet.

This news was revealed when CNBC interviewed HP’s Todd Bradly, you can watch the interview here, in the video Bradley openly talks about the future of webOS, when asked about how HP’s webOS tablet will differentiate itself from the iPad he simply answered “you and I will talk about that on the 9th”.

As Engadget state this pretty much confirms that HP plan to talk about a webOS tablet at the press conference in just 26 days (at the time of this post), if our previous post is accurate it may well be called the PalmPad and will become available in March 2011.

Specs are unconfirmed, however we are hearing that it will possibly feature a USB 3.0 port, HDMI-out, a front-facing camera and a rear facing camera, both of which will have their own LED flash.

During the interview Bradly suggests that a tablet is just one part of the connected experience, this could mean that a whole barrage of webOS-based devices will be unveiled at the show I guess we will just have to wait and see.

What do you expect to see at the press event? Just a tablet or perhaps webOS netbooks, portable media players and desktop computers?

HP have recently reported some pretty promising second quarter results, apparently this is due to strong growth in sales of desktop PCs, notebooks and x86 servers.

When compared to last year’s figures HP have seen a 27 percent raise in desktop PC sales, a 17 percent raise in notebook sales, and a massive 54 percent raise in industry standard servers.

All of these improved figures have raised HP’s shares, last year they stood at between $4.37 to $4.44 per share, however now they are at between $4.45 and $4.50 per share.

Not all sides of HP’s wide range of products/services have grown, apparently their sales of it’s Business Critical Systems have declined, however they did report a 31 percent growth in their Enterprise Storage and Servers group.

The last few months have been pretty hectic for HP, recently they purchased Palm, apparently they are hoping to bring Palm webOS to future tablets and web-connected printers, and may perhaps dabble in the smartphone market.

To find out more detailed information regarding their second quarter results check out the source article link below.
