iPhone 2.0.1 firmware update fixes handset bugs

iPhone users can feel a little better in the knowledge that Apple has released iPhone 2.0.1 firmware update. I know that you wish that the update was version 2.1, but this is better than nothing.

For those of you who popped on to iTunes last night, they would have noticed that there was an update waiting for their handset. There is not much to this update, all iPhone 2.0.1 firmware is about is bug fixes. There is nothing wrong in that though, it shows that Apple have been working hard to solve the issues with the handset software after their last update.

My iPhone did have a few problems like thousands of others, when I used to try and open something it would take about four seconds to do so.

There were reports that some iPhone owners had to return their handsets to Apple stores to be replaced, as their iPhones had stopped working altogether.

iPhone 2.0.1 firmware update is almost 250MB in size, but once you install the software onto your handset you will notice the difference right away. Hey I don’t even get that dreaded keyboard bug anymore.

Europe to get Samsung Omnia i900 end of July

When it comes to mobile phones all people keep going on about is the 3G Apple iPhone, but so many of you must now be getting a little bored of all the coverage. Well let us talk about something else in the way of mobile commutations, the Samsung Omnia i900. The awesome looking handset will soon be available in Singapore, but the guys over in Europe have to wait until the last week of July to get their hands on it.

The Samsung Omnia i900 has a touch-screen which is all the rage at the moment, the phone has being getting a lot of interest, some say that they prefer it over the Apple iPhone and I think I am one of them. Unlike the iPhone, you will be able to purchase the new Samsung handset without a contract for around $1098 SGD, which is for the 16GB version.

The guys over at Phones Review have said that the Samsung Omnia “without a doubt a great competitor for the iPhone 3G and has all the features to make you happy beyond belief.” So what is so great about this latest handset from Samsung? Well firstly it has a 3.2-inch WQVGA display screen, the screen is amazing as you can drag and drop as well as sweep and tap. This is done by using the TouchWiz user interface, this system feels great as there is no lag and is very responsive. Like the iPhone, the Omnia will switch from portrait mode to landscape mode when you turn the phone.
Although most people will still prefer what the new 3G Apple iPhone has to offer, you can’t deny that the new Samsung Omnia i900 looks more sexy and sleek.

Telstra to launch 3G Apple iPhone in Australia this June

It does seem funny that just last year Greg Winn who is one of the top guys at Telstra the Australian telecommunications company said that Apple could stick their iPhone. Well now it seems that the company has had a change of heart as the Australian release of the iPhone will could be this June and looks as though it could be the 3G version of the handset.

Although Telstra is the largest phone provider in OZ, it seems as if they will not be the only ones to get the Apple iPhone. It was way back in February last year that Winn said “Apple is not a mobile phone manufacturer, that’s not their knitting.”

Greg who is the second in charge over at Telstra said that other top phone makers like Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson would be launching their own handsets that will rival the of the Apple iPhone. However, it now seems as if Winn has had to eat his words and back track on what he said, maybe it has something to do with what the consumers want.

So how has the information leaked that Telstra will be distributing the 3G Apple iPhone, well that is simple it seems as if a staff member at a Telstra customer service call center told some caller that they would be stocking this handset.

On a range of various models of Nokia N-Series models you would have noticed that Nokia’s N-Gage has been in ‘preview’ mode. However, this new service is now live and ready for download, so if you are an owner of the Nokia N81, N82 and N95 then why not try out this new app.

Nokia tried out the N-Gage a while back to go head-to-head with handheld consoles like the Nintendo Gameboy, but that did not prove a success. But now Nokia have released N-Gauge to work on a range of their new cell phones. Once users have downloaded the app to their handsets, they are able to play games on their devices as well as compete with other users of N-Gauge.

Google Android will outsell Apple iPhone: According to Group Manager
Rich Miner who is the group manager for Google Android has said that they will outsell the Apple iPhone, however Google have not released any of their predicted sales figures. Miner made this statement while at the Emerging Communications Conference.

He said that “Once you have devices out there from Motorola, HTC, Samsung, and so on, there’s a much larger potential market on Android than for the iPhone.” He then went on to say “there’s a single manufacturer, it’s targeted at a particular demographic, and it falls far short of the 1 billion mobile phones sold every year worldwide.”

Android was released last November and is a complete open-source software for cell phones. Google have also introduced an Android Developers Challenge, and whoever develops the most innovative and useful app will share $10 million in prizes.

Apple iPhone released today in Ireland on O2 Network
Well today is a big day in Ireland, as O2 will launch the Apple iPhone there five months after Britain got the most popular handset. The iPhone will cost 399 Euros for the 8GB version and 499 Euros for the 16GB model.

However it seems as if Ireland does not get as good of a deal on the O2 traffic as the people in Britain. For 45 Euros a month you get 175 minutes, 100 texts and 1GB of Data. For 65 Euros you get 350 minutes, 150 texts and 1GB data. And the highest traffic will cost 100 Euros and for that you get 700 minutes, 250 texts and still 1GB of data.

So no matter what traffic you are on O2 will not offer you unlimited data, and you are also tied into an 18-month contract. Apple iPhone users do not even get free The Cloud Wi-Fi access.

Inside the cell phone art creation

Take a device for example that has a 5.1 megapixel camera, GSM, HSDPA, 1 seg tuner, Bluetooth and even a mobile payment system and yet still keep an all day battery life with no problems, because that is what they can do.

Follow the Phones Review link below to look at images of inside art creation of cell phones.

Apple iPhone targets corporate users: are they targeting RIM Blackberry
The Apple iPhone has been targeting the RIM Blackberry for some time now, and it now seems as if the iPhone wants to target corporate users, just like the RIM Blackberry does.

Many believe that the iPhone will become the next big challenge for Research In Motion Ltd, as you know they are the biggest supplier of Smartphones. The Apple iPhone has evolved from just cell phone into a complete media center, and has become on of the biggest selling phones in the world, this is thanks to a huge price reduction and the number of applications Apple keeps adding to its handset.
