However, we can tell you that there are five, and they are all based on Scooby Doo.

There is no doubt in my mind that when it comes to cartoons, then nothing has a scary Halloween theme like Scooby Doo and Mystery, Inc. Google has been very clever with the Doodle this year, as they know that children will be visiting the search engine homepage to see what five images they will choose as their best.

Having looked a few times at each Google I have noticed that they tell a story. The first is of Mystery, Inc driving down a road while a ghost is scaring two children and steals their sweets. The other four is of Scooby Doo and the team trying to solve the mystery, which as we know they always do.

Well done to Google, this has to be one of the best themes on their homepage yet, what do you think? To get into the spirit of Halloween, it is about time you got that pumpkin out and started carving – here are some design ideas for you.

Halloween Catch 1.3 is available for owners of the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

Released by Iuri Tarabanov, the game has players taking control of a boy who tries to catch sweets that are being thrown by a ghost. He must stop it from falling to the ground so the frog monster can’t pick it up and eat it. The game has lovely 3D graphics with spooky looking characters and sound effects.

As users progress through the game, bats fly across the screen and items are to be found or foe dealt with. This will help the player to increase their high score and have a better chance of making the global leaderboards.

The game can be played offline, and as soon as the user next goes online scores are synced with the leader board. Two levels of difficulty and an easy to use interface compliment the game, and it has received some good reviews so far.

Halloween Catch 1.3 is available on the App Store for only $0.99. iOS 3.0 or later required.

A number of websites have begun sales to mark the scary occasion, such as Steam. There are over 20 games in the sale, with sales from 33-75% off the normal price.

While looking at the games they all have the same theme – but it would not be Halloween otherwise. If you love ghosts, vampires or zombies – who doesn’t – then you will love the 20 or so games up for offer. The sale started yesterday and will go on until November 1st.

The first game to appear on the list is Zombie Bowl-o-Rama, not sure why that is, but the price was £6.99 and will now cost just £1.99. One of the best deals has to be on Overlord Complete Pack, all the packs are included in the one, all for just £6.24 – that’s a massive £18.75 off the original price.

Two of the most popular games in this sale and what is very fitting for Halloween are the Left 4 Dead Bundle and Resident Evil 5; sale prices are £11.49 and £9.99 respectively. Visit the official Steam website now, for the complete list.

Now as far as I know, you cannot purchase these Angry Birds costumes anywhere, so visit TheClockBlog from some inspirational ideas. Who would have thought that birds being catapulted to take revenge on some pigs would ever prove a popular game?

Looking at the costumes they look to have been made with some time and effort, there is even a pig mask to add to the collection. There are no instructions on how to make it on the blog, but they look easy enough to make – if you artistic that is?

MobileCrunch explains that all the birds are there, the yellow and red, as well as the blue and the black exploding ones. Sears has now started their viral marketing campaign in the build up to October 31, 2010.

When choosing the perfect gift you are asked if the zombie you are purchasing for is either male or female, and then asks if he/she is slow, hungry or cranky, as well as how you like your brains – a bit gory, but a lot of fun.

Once you have made your selection you click on the “Find Now” link and you will see a few suggestions that Sears recommends. Some of the ads at the top of the page are amusing; there is an image of a pair of sneakers with the catchphrase “Tone while you lumber”.

This just shows the power of viral marketing, something that most brands are getting involved in. Some choose to do what Sears has done by giving their website a mini-make-over, while others launch ad campaigns on TV. However, some of the most successful are viral video campaigns, like what Evian and Old Spice has done in the past. Visit the Sears Zombie page.

After spending almost an hour of research, it seems that most of what costumes sites will be hot this year seem to agree. These Halloween costumes have been broken down into categories: men’s, women’s, sexy, couples, girls, duo, groups, infant/toddler, pet and funny.

With the adults costumes it is no longer Jack Sparrow or Wonder Woman in the top spot, for 2010 it is Jake Sully from Avatar for the men and Lady Gaga for the women. It is not surprising that the singer will be a popular choice this year, as she is never out of media attention.

For the boys and girls we have Iron Man and Hannah Montana respectively. Here are five suggestions of what we think will be popular this year as well.
