What’s even more exciting is the fact that the developer Guerilla Games has just released sneak peek trailers for the upcoming ‘From the Ashes’ DLC. As Aryeh Loeb – producer at Guerilla Games – noted over on blog.eu.playstation.com, the pack contains a total of four new maps.

This includes two Warzone maps and two Guerilla Warfare maps. However, the developer has only released preview trailers – which can be viewed below this post – of two of the upcoming multiplayer maps. The first video gives us a sneak peek at the Lente Missile Base map.

Lente Missile Base is a Warzone map that takes place inside an abandoned missile base located at the edge of the Kaznan Jungle, and supports up to 24 players. Meanwhile, the second video gives us a glimpse at Mobile Factory, a Guerilla Warfare map for up to 16 players.

The ‘From the Ashes’ DLC pack is priced up at £3.99 / €4.99, and will be available to purchase as from June 22nd. Guerilla Games will also be releasing a DLC Bundle Pack, which bundles together all three DLC packs including Retro, Steel Rain and From the Ashes. This can be yours for £7.99 / €9.99.

As reported from Eurogamer, you’ll be unsurprised to see a vast collection of awards that you can unlock, ranging from bronze to gold trophies – no platinum awards in sight yet strangely though.

That’s probably because Guerilla has cunningly decided to keep 20 badges a secret, so we’re guessing a few of them are platinum awards, or unique trophies that you’ll have to find along the way. Guerilla has listed 31 trophies which you can check out in full on the PlayStation Blog here, and examples include trophies such as Eagle Eye – with the player having to kill enemies with every sniper rifle bullet with no reloads. Nice.

There’s also a few stealth-related trophies to unlock, and also a trophy called Power Spike where you’ll have to ‘nail a Helghast’ to an exploding object.

Killzone’s developers Guerrilla Games have today revealed that they plan to release downloadable content called the Retro Map Pack, this will feature 2 Killzone 2 maps which are Salamun Market and Blood Gracht, according to Killzone’s blog both maps have been thoroughly updated and reworked .

Apparently Salamun Market is huge and allows for up to 24 players, Blood Gracht is smaller and will support up to 16 players, you can find out more about the maps on EuroGamer.

At the moment we do not know when the Retro Map Pack will arrive on the PlayStation Network or how much it will cost, however you will get the maps if you pre-order the game from some participating retailers, also if you buy the Collector’s and Helghast Editions you will get the two maps free.

There seems to be some confusion as to which retailers will give you the DLC if you pre-order the game, Amazon just give you “3 Unlock Points to use on the weapon or ability of your choice”, therefore I would head over to GameStop, you can see full details regarding the pre-order bonus items below.

All PSN gamers will be able to get their hands-on the single-player demo from February 16th, however if you are a PlayStation Plus member you can get the demo a week early, which means it will become available on February 9th.

The demo allows you to play a level which occurs halfway through the game’s campaign, this level is called Icy Incursion and if you are playing the 2D version you will be able to team up with a friend and play split-screen co-op.

One Eurogamer reader suggests that this will be the first real test for the PlayStation Move controller, if the Move offers a rich experience with this first-person shooter there is no reason why it cannot be a success with games like Black Ops.

Other details are still scarce at present, however with PlayStation Plus members having to wait just 13 days for the demo to arrive I am sure we will find out a lot more about the demo pretty soon, the question is: Will you upgrade to PlayStation Plus for early access to the Killzone 3 single-player demo?

As expected, there are lots of weapons to choose from, with a healthy list of sub-machine guns, assault rifles, shotguns, sniper rifles and rocket launchers. The StA-X6 Jetpack is also listed there, as well as a couple of sentry turrets which will be available for Engineers depending on which faction you choose to be.

For those of you who choose the Helghast class, there will be a StA-62 Minigun waiting for you. While its main function is for use during stationary mode, the Sta-62 can also be dismounted and carried around – we can imagine the fun you’re gonna have with this one. Obviously, it will slow you down though during use, so proceed with caution.

Don’t forget you’ll also get vehicles to play around with in Killzone 3. One of the new addtions is the LS209 Exoskeleton, which comes equipped with a heavy machine gun and rocket launcher – District 9 style.

While the Ad is a mere 16 seconds long, it does show off some snippets of brand new gameplay action which you probably haven’t seen before, unless you’re currently in the midst of the closed beta for the game – stop smiling PS Plus subscribers.

If you search online, there are probably still routes you can take to secure a free beta key into the game, while you can also check out a confirmation of split-screen multiplayer here. At the start of the trailer, we see a well-placed line of text which states that Killzone 3 ‘is a must-buy’.

After playing Killzone 1 and 2 though, do you believe it is a must buy, or are you planning to skip the third installment in favor of another title. We have a feeling that some of you won’t want to pick up both Crysis 2 and Killzone 3 as both games have similar release windows.

As reported from VG247, we’re not sure where the footage has surfaced from, but obviously a source close to Guerilla has uploaded this to YouTube. It took get taken down at any minute, so watch it while you can.

The video shows a rather long, and pretty epic boss battle, in which players will have to work out how to bring the large mechnical beast down, instead of just uploading entire clips into it’s armour. Interestingly, you’ll see ‘preview code’ at the top of the video, suggesting that this has come straight from Guerilla HQ and isn’t really intended for public viewing – another reason to view it asap.

While the video quality isn’t amazing, the visuals are looking pretty nice, although the game does look like much of the same, for those of you who played through the excellent Killzone 2. It looks like this machine is called the MAWLR, and you can see the battle unfold by watching the clip below.

How many of you are planning to get Killzone 3 next year? Don’t forget that Crysis 2 is due out at a similar time to Killzone 3 – will you get both or just one of these two games?
