For those that have taken their addiction one step further and picked up the Guardians of Middle Earth game, we have some good news in store as Bilbo Baggins is now playable in the game as a piece of DLC.

It looks like his release was timed perfectly as well to coincide with The Hobbit hitting cinemas worldwide over the weekend. Frodo’s mentor can be purchased in the Guardians for Middle Earth game, at a reasonable $1.99 or 160 Microsoft Points from the respective PlayStation Store or Xbox Live Marketplace.

Alternatively, Bilbo Baggins can be acquired for free as part of the Season Pass which costs $14.99 or 1200 Microsoft Points and will include all downloadable content such as future guardians or new battlefields to explore. Along with Bilbo, Bert the Troll is available in this new DLC pack as well and you’ll definitely remember him if you watched the movie – one of the funniest scenes of the entire film we thought.

A gameplay video can be seen below, showing both DLC characters in action. Bilbo will be available as a Striker guardian, while Bert the Troll is playable in the Tactician guardian class. A special set of unique abilities will be available to both characters, including being able to use Bilbo’s sense skills to enter stealth for a period of time and also use a teleport move with Bilbo’s sting dagger.

The game is a must have purchase for any Lord of the Rings fan, particularly if you have been feeling starved of any action since the excellent Battle for Middle Earth games. Which DLC guardian would you like to see next though who isn’t available yet? We are probably going to see a lot more characters from The Hobbit, so who gets your pick?

With a need to review most of the biggest games it has been very rewarding to own the Xbox 360 and PS3 since both of these consoles released, which also makes this generation feel like it has lasted a lifetime and our need for an Xbox 720 or PS4 is growing on a daily basis, but we’d still be happy to wait until 2014 at the latest.

Unbelievably we still play a game that turned 6 years old on the Xbox 360, and this is The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II. EA has shut down the online servers some time ago, but every few weeks we love nothing more than spending a few hours playing BFME 2 on the Xbox 360, not on the PS3, and there hasn’t been anything good enough to replace the same LOTR strategy and gameplay.

Enter Guardians of Middle Earth for LOTR addiction – if you haven’t seen any gameplay for this new Lord of the Rings game then we recommend you look at the video below this article, which showcases the first trailer. The release date has not officially been set, but we are looking at a launch between the third and fourth quarter of 2012.

If you love action and fantasy games then this real-time strategy is perfect for you, although if you are remotely a LOTR fan then this game will surly be a day one purchase for you. Considering the PC has been known for more strategy choice, it is great to see a LOTR game like this coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3, which we are really looking forward to getting hands-on.

You will be able to enjoy online multiplayer in a battle arena style, which is obviously different to the Battle for Middle Earth experience, although considering it follows a real-time strategy direction it will cater to fans of the previous game. You can engage in fun 5 vs. 5 online play that sets players the task of controlling the battleground

Are you looking forward to playing Guardians of Middle Earth, and do you think it will help feed your LOTR addiction? One of the biggest selling points about this game is the team coordination, which will have friends and family working together online to deliver that extra addicting factor.
