We have some potentially massive news to bring to PS Vita owners now, as it looks like Sony’s handheld is set to receive a further boost towards the end of the year. Great looking games such as Killzone Mercenary are on the way soon, but if rumors are to be believed, Rockstar classics GTA 1 and GTA 2 are coming to the PS Vita as well.

The original Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft Auto 2 were two of the finest games to release on the PlayStation 1, with that famous birds-eye view of the game still etched in the minds of many hardcore GTA fans today. This memory could be set for a reunion, if a listing by the ESRB is to be believed.

The ratings website has appeared to leak an announced game once again, with the discovery being made by eagle-eyed Neogaf user Ultros. The screenshot you see above was briefly featured on the website, showing GTA and GTA 2 up for re-release on PS Vita, and also PS3.

It seems that this going to be reality, rather than a mere rumor, as we couldn’t find the information on ESRB’s website any more. Rockstar could have been made aware of the situation and prompted the removal of the information, meaning that it definitely is true.

One potential outcome for this, is that GTA 1 and GTA 2 are going to be two new PS1 classics, to release during the same week that GTA V hits the PS3 on September 17. That would be pretty logical for Rockstar to do that, or even prior to the GTA V launch to build up anticipation instead.

GTA 1 and GTA 2 HD remasters for the PS Vita would be a dream come true, but we doubt Rockstar will have had enough time to make this happen for a release alongside GTA V. That’s why having them as PS1 Classics seems a lot more likely to happen, but even then – it’s still great news.

Do you have fond memories of the original GTA games on PS1? Let us know if you’ll be putting your money down for both games without a second thought.

Grand Theft Auto 3 coming to iOS and Android – supported devices http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/10/13/grand-theft-auto-3-coming-to-ios-and-android-supported-devices/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/10/13/grand-theft-auto-3-coming-to-ios-and-android-supported-devices/#comments Thu, 13 Oct 2011 13:28:59 +0000 Jamie Pert http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=142921 Good news GTA fans, to celebrate it being 10 year’s since the release of Grand Theft Auto 3 Rockstar has decided port the game to both iOS and Android, however we are told that only certain devices will fully support the game.

Apparently when the game arrives on October 22, 2011, the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S will be the only Apple products which fully support the game, whilst the Android release will run just fine on these smartphones: Droid X2, HTC Evo 2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix and Samsung Galaxy S2. As for Android tablets you will be able to run the game on the Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. We are shocked to see that there is no mention of the Xperia Play or the recently unveiled new iPod Touch.

We are not sure if the game will run on unlisted devices, all we know is that the above devices are supported in full. As you can see it looks like the game is quite demanding as most of these feature dual-core processors.

We think that if Rockstar get it right GTA 3 has the potential to set records for both the Android Market and the App Store, that said we don’t yet know how much it will cost and what the controls will be like – these are two major factors on its succes in our opinion. Here is a statement from Rockstar, which goes to show how much of a part GTA 3 played on success of the Grand Theft Auto series:

“Grand Theft Auto III showed us the potential of open world games,” and added “It helped set the vision for the company, and we have been expanding on those possibilities with every game ever since”

Currently we don’t have any screenshots or videos for you to feast your eyes on, instead we have embedded the game’s original trailer below – how much are you willing to pay for this new port of GTA 3?

Next-gen GTA on PS4 and Xbox 720: Too realistic? http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/07/13/next-gen-gta-on-ps4-and-xbox-720-too-realistic/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/07/13/next-gen-gta-on-ps4-and-xbox-720-too-realistic/#comments Wed, 13 Jul 2011 11:09:57 +0000 Daniel Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=136677 Putting aside the swearing in Grand Theft Auto and focusing more on the visual side of this controversial game, players know that GTA takes gaming to the extreme and is not shy to show us what life is really like. While most of us haven’t picked up a prostitute before, GTA will let the player explore that hidden desire if you so wish, and it’s pretty realistic to a certain degree on the PS3.

Then we’ve got the option of not following the rules, and instead choosing to become a rebel by finding guns, running over people, and doing everything that you shouldn’t, this is where the real fun can be had in GTA. While children should not play this game, we can almost certainly agree that there are some children that do play GTA, even with the realistic violence. If we forget the idea of children seeing this kind of violence and focus on those that are allowed, which are adults. How much is too much in terms of realism?

This question has been asked for many generations of game consoles, even back when graphics where more blocky. Today the Xbox 360 and PS3 can produce a game that is more realistic than ever before, which means the games are more lifelike. The photos you see on this page are taken from a video that showcases what could be possible on the next-gen games system, namely the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720 (as it’s known). The graphics are amazing and the video, seen in this article, explains that the mod was real gameplay with extreme graphics in GTA, giving you an idea of what to expect on the next-gen console.

It’s very likely that the PS4 and Xbox 720 will produce graphics closer to reality than before, and with the PS3 still featuring many games with almost PS2 type graphics, the next systems will be miles ahead in terms of realism. What does this mean for the GTA franchise? Can you imagine playing a game with these type of graphics, picking up a bat and hitting someone in the head 10 times, how real will it be? The blood and damage to a person in GTA on a PS4 or Xbox 720 will be more lifelike, but what should be seen as acceptable with the leap in graphic realism? The current GTA lets you use cheats to get the women to take clothes off in strip clubs, how would this look in the next-gen GTA? If the game is rated 18+ should it always be ok, no matter how real?

Share your thoughts on the level of realism you’ll be happy with on the next-gen systems, and if the age rating is there should it be unlimited to show what real life is really like?

GTA Meets Mario Bros Video: What Do You Think? http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/12/15/gta-meets-mario-bros-video-what-do-you-think/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/12/15/gta-meets-mario-bros-video-what-do-you-think/#comments Wed, 15 Dec 2010 14:54:08 +0000 Daniel Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=117305 Recently have been looking a at games being mixed together such as Lego and Call of Duty: Black Ops and whilst browsing away I came across a very interesting fan video that I think would work pretty well.

The video shown over at Eurogamer.com would appeal to 2 different audiences and they are ones that you would probably never put together… the ever popular Grand Theft Auto and the world that is Super Mario Bros. GTA has always been a hit, I remember the old games on the PlayStation 1, the birds eye view and running around shooting vehicles and people, how much has that series come on? You can now view the video at the bottom of our article.

The Super Mario Brothers aren’t doing so bad either especially with the success of Mario Kart on the Nintendo Wii, easily the most addictive game I have played from the Mario Bros series. Again going back to my childhood I remember sitting for hours with friends playing the battle mode and racing against each other.

Well now these two brands have come together in one of the best fan videos I have ever seen, I especially liked the line “Toss me some shells”.

What do you think of the video, could you ever see the pair working together to produce something as genius as this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
