GTA IV PC Europe Release November 21

August 7, 2008 by Peter

GTA IV for the PC will be coming to Europe on November 21, which is just three days later than the North American release. Rockstar founder Sam Houser says it “looks and plays beautifully on PC and we can’t wait for people to play it”.

PC gamers have been waiting for what seems like a lifetime for this release. Grand Theft Auto IV was rumored for a PC release before the Sony PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

GTA IV was released on the next-gen games consoles back in April 29, and in early June the game had already sold more that 8.5 million copies. The game is set to sell many more copies once PC gamers have the chance to purchase it.

Grand Theft Auto IV follows the everyday life of Niko Bellic as he makes a new life for himself in Liberty City. He then embarks on his life of crime as well as trying to get his cousin out of trouble.

One thing is certain, Parents will now have to try and stop their children from playing this game on their PC’s.

Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA IV) features a paedophile website: Warning, Do not look!

Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA IV) the controversial game by Rockstar has been blasted by The Sun because it has revealed that it features a parody of a paedophile website, which is quite sickening really.

The game is controversial in itself but many gamers love this game to bits and play on it for hours on end, The Sun reported that the illegal website little lacysurprisepageant.com was revealed when a cheat was used which allows the main character in the game to have a five-star wanted rating. This report claimed that the fake site will display a message from virtual authorities and that it says “it has been closed down”, there is a warning to anyone caught looking at this website will be investigated and features the warning ‘We see it all, we know it all.”

Someone called Jason Deschoolmeester who is 23 from South Wales said “I was looking on the internet for cheats and the name of this caught my eye as my daughter is called Lacey. This crosses the line. The makers have obviously sat around and discussed putting this in, and it’s not on. What will they do next? “It’s disgusting. It could lead people to indulge in things like that. It is totally sick. I won’t play it again.”

This is quite sickening and this paedophile website address is reportedly one of many fake sites featured within the game, which results in cheats. Do we really need this sort of crap within our games? Rockstar has so far refused to comment on the allegations.

What are your views on this matter?

GTA IV Secrets Told by Michael Hollick voice of Niko Bellic

Ok so we all have GTA IV, we have it and love it and it has made $500 million in its first week alone. This makes it one of the biggest video games of all time; it just shows that video games are big business just like movies, or maybe even bigger. Niko Bellic has to be the best and most interesting character in the history of video games, which is voiced by Michael Hollick. The voice actor decided to join a couple of guys for a radio interview, where he decided to share with listeners some secrets and technical details on how Grand Theft Auto 4 was made.

Hollick has shared some very interesting details about how hard the game was to make, as well as how the story behind the game was first thought up. At the start of the interview Michael Hollick was asked if he knew how big the game was going to be, Hollick said that he did not even know he was working on a new GTA game, he was told he was working on a game called Frozen, talk about secrecy.

Although hearing the insight from the voice behind Niko Bellic, I do feel that the interview was not done in a professional way. When dealing with one of the biggest games in the world, you would expect to be interviewed by professionals but this is not the case with these DJ’s, at one point one of them said “I’m not gay but id bang you.” This is an interesting interview and you have to put up with some of this nonsense to learn a little about the story behind the game.

Check out the interview on the video below.

Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV is downloading damaging viruses

It seems that nothing is safe when it comes to cyber criminals, now they are using one of the biggest console games to spread damaging viruses around the globe. John Safa who was a former hacker is now IT security expert and head of security for DriveSentry has warned that gamers who are downloading illegal copies of the game on to their PC and unknown to them are downloaded damaging viruses. Safa has said “People are exploiting the popularity of Grand Theft Auto IV in a way which could bring mayhem to the internet.” He then added “The only thing that many gamers can think of at the moment is Grand Theft Auto IV and hackers are using that interest to try to generate chaos as quickly as they can.”

John Safa is very worried about this problem and has warned anybody to be very careful with some of these links, the thing is some have been designed to look official and as we know they are not. The best thing that any PC owner should do is invest in a good anti-virus program which will hopefully be able to protect you against such attacks. The thing is hackers are getting very resourceful and will not stop at nothing to disrupt the web.

I do have one problem with this piece of news though, people should not be downloading illegal copies of Grand Theft Auto IV or any other game, ok so they want to try and save a few dollars, but in doing so you are damaging the industry as a whole and us gamers who purchase our titles from the store are now having to pay more to solve the problem.

Playing Grand Theft Auto IV on your own is certainly a great experience, but nothing truly prepares you for when you decide to partake in GTA 4 multiplayer online. If you have the game but as yet still have not been online, I do urge you to please try it, it’s truly awesome. As for those of you who have been playing the multiplayer online part of the game you might have used this free mode to come up with some great home-brew challenges, the thing is in this mode it all about player creativity it seems that in Liberty City anything goes. Why not start of your own home-brew challenges; this could be that you will create your own competitions, challenges as well as amazing stunts.

Some people have been having a bit of trouble coming up with their own home-brew challenges and competitions, so why not check out what Ryan Treit has to offer in the way of advice. He has come up with some of his own on-the-fly game types, you can use these to have some fun or just use them as a springboard so that you can create some of your own challenges. Some of the multiplayer home-brew challenges in Grand Theft Auto IV that Ryan Treit has come up with include Automotive Skeet Shooting, Race to Target, Grand Theft, Hunters and Prey, Chase and Escape and finally Biker Flight.

For more information about these visit Xbox.com, give them a try and let us know how you got on.

The Xbox 360 does online gaming best and when they say an “All-Nighter” event is coming up, you know it’s going to be good. The game is Grand Theft Auto IV and they have planned an all-nighter on Xbox Live for May 24. Make sure you clear that date and mark it down to get online and play GTA 4. The aim is to play from dusk on May 24 until dawn of May 25.

They are not really giving away any prizes, if you send in a photo of your get together or loner if playing alone, and then you may get featured on Xbox.com. They just want to get everyone who has Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox Live for one day and night, if that does happen, do you think the servers will take it?

Below is the Official announcement from Microsoft’s Xbox 360:
Liberty City never sleeps and neither should you, during the Xbox All-Nighter featuring Grand Theft Auto IV™ from dusk on May 24 until dawn of May 25. We’ll be running rampant through the streets in campaign, free-roaming multiplayer, and one of the several multiplayer game types. Jump in to Xbox LIVE® for a night of carjacking, pistol whipping, and turf wars.

We’re dying to hear about your Grand Theft Auto IV All-Nighter. Tell us all about the action with a short recap, maybe even send us a mug shot. Send us your recap and/or pictures with the subject “GTA IV All-Nighter” and we might feature yours on Xbox.com!

What Rubbish: Kids Learn Killing in Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA 4)

May 7, 2008 by Daniel
Filed under Gaming, Sony Playstation 3, Xbox 360

We touched a little the other day on how video games are our children’s teaches and we also reported that Barack Obama shared this view, and he even highlighted the game Grand Theft Auto IV. Now it looks like CNN are taking the spotlight by attacking Rockstar’s GTA IV as a game that’s training our children to become killers. While it’s easy to understand their view, as a flying simulator game can train you to fly, a game that kills people could train you to kill.

Personally I believe that you are made a certain way, and if your going to be evil in real life, most times the world you are exposed to already with movies and news as it is, will be enough. The good news is most of us have common sense and would never think of acting out what we see in video games. CNN put it that the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 game is teaching kids to “kill in a similar way to the recruits being trained by the military”.

Now having played games for years, I can tell you that GTA IV is in no way as detailed at killing, as the modern sim games are at flying. Saying that, kids should never be playing Grand Theft Auto IV, as it’s an 18 plus game, if they are playing, then it’s the parents that need locking up. CNN get really funny when, presenter Glenn Beck said, “It took 75 years and countless billions of dollars to train our soldiers to kill. Today, $60 buys your kid the same thing.”

The question us sensible people should ask is: Are CNN reporting that story to get public attention and make money, or do they really believe $60 for GTA 4 trains a kid to kill?

Grand Theft Auto IV Meets Politics: Barack Obama’s view of GTA 4

May 5, 2008 by Daniel

You have only got to play a game of Call of Duty 4 and you will hear kids talking on the chat, now they are not meant to be on that game and many others, but they do as the parents do not monitor them, or do not mind. Now that Grand Theft Auto IV has been released on the Sony PS3 and Xbox 360, you got to think about children playing a game meant for ages 18+.

The fact is they will be and this is an issue that has also been recently talked about by the possible next United States President, Barack Obama. Barack made the claim during a speech in Indiana, he said, “Now, this isn’t intended for kids, although I promise you there are kids who are playing it, but these video games are raising our kids”.

He is right, as kids today play video games many hours per week, but it’s the parents responsibility to make sure the games being played educate our children as well as give them fun. Personally, I use brain-training games and other similar games for my children, these very games have helped my children improve massively in school. Although they still have fun playing other games, but I can assure you, these games do not include strippers and prostitutes like in GTA 4.

Barack Obama said that Americans need to encourage their children to switch the TV off and focus on doing well in school, although my opinion is games can help children, if they are the correct ones. It’s all about what you feed the minds of the future.

My Evil Side in Grand Theft Auto IV: missions or wild on GTA 4?

It was a few days ago that I first got my hands on Grand Theft Auto IV and it took until last night to get a first impressions look, the reason for this was stopping the gym and getting stuck into Wii Fit. When I first started the game my first impressions were that the game looks much like the last few, other than the improved graphics and this is a good thing, although I know GTA IV has a lot more than any Grand Theft Auto game before it. While my version is for the Sony PS3, the Xbox 360 version is the same in almost all aspects Read more

Who will be top? Wii Fit vs. Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA IV)

April 30, 2008 by Peter
Filed under Gaming, Sony Playstation 3

Ok so we know how popular the release of the much anticipated game Grand Theft Auto 4 is, as many of our high streets see huge queues as people wanted to get their copy. There are so many forecasts that the game will break all records however; Bookies Paddy Power does not believe this to be the case.

The bookies do wonder if GTA IV will have the staying power in 10 weeks time, they believe that the Wii Fit from Nintendo will bump GTA IV of the top spot after just a few days. Paddy Power are now offering a 9/2 odds that GTA IV will sit at the top of the charts for 10 weeks, but they are offering odds of 6/4 that the Wii Fit will knock Grand Theft Auto 4 of the number one spot.

If the Nintendo Wii Fit does not manage to knock Rockstar’s newest game from the top of the charts then all is not lost, as Nintendo has another great game coming. The game in question is Mario Kart and the forecast for game sales look very promising.

I own a PlayStation 3 and I am still not certain if I will purchase GTA IV However; I do not own a Nintendo Wii, but that is about to change as I am eager to own Wii Fit.

Grand Theft Auto IV vs Call of Duty 4 on Sony PS3

April 28, 2008 by Daniel
Filed under Gaming, Sony Playstation 3

This might seem a weird versus of video games at first, but the reason I compare them is because many gamers (Including myself) have spent well over 100 hours playing Call of Duty 4 on Sony PS3 (in my case) and the Xbox 360. Now at 9am in the morning I will have Grand Theft Auto IV for the Playstation 3 in my hands and then comes the decision of which game will get your time.

I have no doubt that in the short term I will be playing GTA 4 much more and I might not even play COD4 for many weeks, but what kind of lastability will GTA 4 have and will it live up to the expectations as you can see in Peter’s review earlier today?

So if we are talking “Gameplay”, how many gamers will COD4 lose over the rest of this year in favor of GTA 4? I think it will be a big number, it will not be the single player part of Grand Theft Auto, as most people will complete that very quickly, instead it’s the FIRST TIME multiplayer gameplay that will keep GTA 4 in the games consoles.

So in the question of long-term gameplay, will Call of Duty 4 or Grand Theft Auto IV win?

If you own COD4, let us know which game you think you will be playing the most in 3 months.

Grand Theft Auto IV Review: GTA 4 Strip Club & Chase Gameplay

April 28, 2008 by Peter
Filed under Game Video & Trailers, Gaming

It is almost four years since Rockstar has released a new GTA game and in that time many have come along and had a try, however; none have come close, this is because Grand Theft Auto taps into the spinal cord of pop culture. So far information has been slow on Grand Theft Auto IV and has only trickled out, however we now have all the information we need to a review of this much anticipated game.

One thing that we know and even more so with the new GTA 4 is that the game is no place for kids, so make sure that they are not around when getting down to the action. In the new game you play Niko Bellic who is an Eastern European and has come to Liberty City for a better life. While watching some of the scenes you will notice that the game could hold its own against many movies, this is thanks to a great script and the superb voice acting.

GTA 4 is a lot like the previous Grand Theft Auto games, driving and shooting however; there is one huge difference with the new game the character now has a social life. So if you need to wind down you can play some darts, pool or maybe some bowling, or you can just go for a drink or better still hang out at a strip club.

These could in fact be full fledged games, but these are just another extra in GTA 4. In the game you have main missions as well as sidelines, and the further you get in the game the more aqaintances you meet; however trying to keep them all happy can be very tough. NiKo even gets his own cell phone so you are able to receive mission updates.

The biggest thing that RockStar has made with the new GTA 4 game is the introduction of a multiplayer option, so you are now able to battle it out online with up to 15 other players. In the multiplayer game you have free boundaries so are able to go anywhere in New York City. But the anchor in keeping you involved in the game is to get ammo and also the game time. You can form teams where you have to complete a set of missions another mode is where teams will be cops and the other team robbers.

The single player mode will take a full working week to complete, but it is the customizable multiplayer that will shock people the most. The old GTA series has always come under criticism as the gameplay has always been an after thought; well that is not the case with Grand Theft Auto 4. The whole driving has now changed, while driving the many different vehicles you will notice that they handle differently and do not try to turn very well while braking as the vehicles just don’t like it. If you do get bored with driving miles to your destination, then why not steal a cab and work while you drive to your next mission. There is so much to do in the new game, you can go to an internet café and check your emails or check out your dates on a dating website. If that is not enough you can go on your cell phone and download new wallpapers or ringtones. RockStar seems to get things just right when choosing the perfect soundtrack and GTA IV is no exception. Grand Theft Auto 4 is the sex drugs and rock ‘n’ roll of video games and is the most refined and polished in the whole of the franchise history. Few games deliver on the hype this one does.

You can see three videos below, one is of the GTA 4 review, the other is the Strip Club Gameplay while the other is the Chase Gameplay.

Rockstar’s GTA 4 Official Trailer 5 and Grand Theft Auto IV Niko Video

The magic date of Tuesday, 29th of April is one I am looking forward to just like many Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 gamers worldwide, as on this day the world (apart from Japan) will be able to buy Grand Theft Auto IV. Below we have two game trailers for you, the first is the official GTA 4 Trailer 5 and below that we have the GTA 4 Niko video that shows you a glimpse of the man you’re going to be spending a lot of time with.

Rockstar have out done themselves this time, I can remember the days of playing Grand Theft Auto on the PC with a birds eye view, it was a fantastic game back then and in my opinion the next versions lacked an important part of gaming when they took the multiplayer away and made it a single player game. The single player did get much better with great graphics, but I just found that it needed that 3D view with multiplayer, as that’s what gives a game lastability. Its great news that GTA 4 will have online multiplayer and this gameplay sounds like it will be amazing; you will be able to play a cooperative single player mission and around 15 modes of play with support for 16 players in multiplayer. Your can also explore the whole city in a multiplayer game which means massive gameplay.

GTA 4 is going to take this type of gaming to another level and it looks like I have found a game that will stop me playing COD4 so much. Watch the two videos below and share your thoughts on GTA 4 in the comments box.

Ricky Gervais to cameo in GTA IV for Sony PS3 and Xbox 360

One of the most anticipated games of the year has to be GTA IV, and will be a huge hit once it is released. The game has been written about to death now and we all assume we know all there is to know about the game however; there is one little gem that we did not know and that is Ricky Gervais is to make a cameo in the game.

The comedian will play himself in the game as he is a stand up act performing in the comedy club in Liberty City. Going into this comedy club might just be a welcome break while you hang out and have a rest, and you will also be able to watch Gervais as he performs some new material that he has written especially for Grand Theft Auto 4.

Ricky Gervais said that appearing in the game was very important to him as the world of gaming is of a big importance to the entertainment industry. Ricky had to stand in a lycra suit so that it could be digitally recorded and transferred onto the game, which he said was not good.

GTA IV is due for release on April 29th and will be on both Xbox 360 and PS3.

Grand Theft Auto IV: controls for Sony PS3 and Xbox 360

Grand Theft Auto IV will be one of the hottest games this year, and will take up hours of your time. However a lot of time will be taken up trying to learn and get used to the controls.

Well thankfully we have a video here that shows you the controls for Grand Theft Auto IV on both the Sony PS3 and the Xbox 360. I am not alone when I say that the controller is a lot more difficult to hold and get used to compared to that of the Microsoft Xbox 360.

You better take a close look at this video, then the moment you start playing Grand Theft Auto IV, you would already have mastered all the controls.

Grand Theft Auto IV has been banned in the UK
The game Grand Theft Auto IV has been banned in the UK by the Certification body the BBFC, the gaming industry has just turned into a crisis and by banning this game in the UK will cause uproar with gamers.

The BBFC have thrown this game out by refusing to grant GTA IV a UK certificate, the game which is a violent crime series usually gets an 18 certificate rating but not this time.

They say that the high-resolution graphics and amazing stereo sound means the game seems more violent due to being realistic and cannot pass this for sale in the UK without substantial and deep changes made to its content.
