Let’s start with Motionscan technology, this was used in L.A. Noire and made character’s faces in cut scenes much more realistic than other methods previously used. 32 high definition cameras are used to ensure that every slight movement which goes into an expression is replicated in a game – the video embedded at the bottom of this post shows just how great this technology is.

Adding Motionscan to GTA 5 will be a huge task for RockStar’s developers due simply to how many characters there will be in the game and the many different situations a gamer will get theirself into. If GTA 5 does utilize Motionscan technology not only will actors have to record audio, but their faces will have to be tracked as well, this will add an abundance of realism to the game and does seem like a natural progression for the franchise – but could it be a task which is too big for RockStar?

The fact that RockStar already has experience with Motionscan is a huge advantage, but the sheer workload this will add to the development period is almost unfathomable due to the free-roaming nature of the game, L.A. Noire was somewhat linear in comparison so it is a massive jump – with all that said if they pull it off we’re sure other developers will look at GTA 5 with envious eyes.

We think we have spoken about Motionscan enough now, so now lets touch upon whether GTA 5 should be as realistic as possible. It is almost certain that GTA 5 will be 18-rated, therefore many argue that we should see anything which is portrayed in an 18-rated movie – obviously we don’t want to see imagery which is too graphic, but a bit of gore is needed to add grit to the game’s storyline – do you agree? As for realistic graphics we really think that past GTA games have ensured that this next installment will be as visually impressive as possible, some say that graphics don’t matter too much, but that attitude surely negates any reason for a PS4 / Xbox 720 release in the future – therefore although graphics won’t make or break the success of the game it will simply give critics less to complain about and wow gamers playing the game on beautiful 1080p displays.

Ultimately we believe that the more realistic RockStar can make GTA 5, the better. We don’t think Motionscan technology is essential, but it would be great and we also believe that some blood and gore would only add to creating a more immersive gaming experience – perhaps we are wrong, so let us know your opinions on the matter in the comments section below!

Would you prefer GTA 5 to be as realistic as technology will allow?

GTA 5 spoilers from leak, San Andreas, 64 players and more http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/11/01/gta-5-spoilers-from-leak-san-andreas-64-players-and-more/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/11/01/gta-5-spoilers-from-leak-san-andreas-64-players-and-more/#comments Tue, 01 Nov 2011 22:41:43 +0000 Jamie Pert http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=144213 The official Grand Theft Auto 5 trailer is less than a day away, however it looks like someone wanted to ruin the mystery surrounding this highly anticipated title by leaking lost of spoiler regarding the next GTA installment – whether this is in fact accurate is hard to tell, so keep reading if you don’t mind discovering some potential spoilers.

Apparently the game is once again set in San Andreas, this time in 2012, you start the game in Los Santos on your rival’s turf after getting robbed and beaten up, the character you play is Hispanic and called Adrian. This time round the game revolves massively around money, there will be the same cities from GTA San Andreas, but a lot bigger and more detailed.

In terms of gameplay you can expect an improved cover system and much smoother movement, when driving there will be 9 radio stations to tune into and there will be car modding. It is also worth knowing that if you manage to rack up a 5 star wanted level the National Guard will be called in.

Throughout the game we are told that decisions you make have a much larger effect on the story, there are said to be 4 different endings, two of which are good, the others bad. Massive spoilers: We are told that some (or perhaps all) endings will result in your character, Adrian, dying, but you then get to play as his brother.

If you are looking to play multiplayer game modes on Xbox Live / PSN we are told that there will be support for up to 32 players, entirely new game modes and co-op story – we’re not sure how many players can partake in the game’s co-op story mode.

Lots of information has leaked regarding the PC version of the game, apparently this time round the game has been optimized for PC much more than GTA 4 was, there will also be support for 64 player multiplayer and dedicated servers. It also looks like the PC version of GTA 5 will launch at the same time as the console variants.

Some other things we should quickly list include: Gang wars will take place in the game, also each gang will have their own graffiti and you can tag stuff with custom sprays and expect more girlfriends, parachutes and fun cheats.

There you go folks that’s everything we know so far (thanks to BotchWeed). As previously mentioned we don’t know how legit this info is, so don’t take it too seriously for now, the person who leaked the details claims that tomorrows trailer will last 1min 4 seconds and will give us a glimpse of the city, there will no real action. If this information regarding the trailer is confirmed tomorrow when it officially arrives we have no reason to believe that rest of the leak is a hoax.

Do you think that this leak will turn out to be genuine?

Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5): Release Date in 2011? More Possible Hints http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/28/grand-theft-auto-v-gta-5-release-date-in-2011-more-possible-hints/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/28/grand-theft-auto-v-gta-5-release-date-in-2011-more-possible-hints/#comments Mon, 28 Feb 2011 10:08:41 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=123571 It has been a while since we’ve heard any details surrounding Grand Theft Auto V hasn’t it? We don’t have any official news from Rockstar to bring you, but there has been some notable activity on the speculation side of things.

Firstly, let’s get on to the facts, as GrandTheft5 is reporting that Rockstar has interestingly registered the domain names of as many as five different websites, with speculation increasing that this is GTA V related.

The five domains in question are CashForDead Dreams, SixFigureTemps, StopPayingYourMortgage, HammersteinFaust, and LifeInvader. The websites don’t actually reveal much, but the names alone should do more than enough to raise one or two eyebrows.

Furthermore, it’s also been reported that a stuntman for the game Declan Mulvey listed Grand Theft Auto V on his IMDB page. The information has since been removed, and Mulvey himself told CVG that the information was a typo – really Declan? Just so you’re aware, Mulvey has also performed stunts for other video games, such as Red Dead Redemption, Saints Row 2 and the upcoming Max Payne 3.

It seems like a long shot, but could Rockstar be planning anything GTA 5 related at GDC 2011? The event in San Francisco kicks off today and runs through until March 5th – let’s hope so. Let us know your thoughts on these latest GTA 5 teasers.
