Sony PS3’s Grid vs Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (GT5): can you compare?
May 29, 2008 by Daniel

Around two weeks ago Mark posted a comparison video of the Sony PS3’s Grid vs Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (you can see that here), although it was very funny and at the same time biased, the video did touch on some good points. Can you really compare GT5 to Grid?
Gran Turismo has never really included major damage in their games and focused more on graphics, GT has ruled with best graphics in racing games for a long time. Having played both games, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is a very good game that can also be classed as a demo with the full GT5 coming in the next year. So to compare this game to Grid is a bit unfair, and personally the gameplay on Grid was a lot more fun and having damage gave you a lot more of what GT5 lacked.
Gamers saying, “I do not plan on crashing” when asked if they miss the damage on GT5, is just a poor excuse. If GT5 was aiming at realism in gameplay and graphics, it should of included damage and lets hope the upcoming full version will include this. Just 5 minutes playing Grid, you will find yourself playing with the unique crash feature. You can have so many chances at rewinding gameplay to get a second chance after crashing, and this feature can be turned off.
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue still has the edge on graphics, but if we are talking gameplay, Grid is in another league and as a GT fan; I hope the full version of GT5 brings damage and a few other features.
What would you like to see in the full version of GT5 and how do you rate Grid?
Race Driver Grid versus Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Video: who is the winner?

This video we have below is very funny indeed especially because it is all about the games Race Driver Grid versus Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, the way the video has been made is basically saying Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is rubbish (well that is what I see). You have got to watch it then post your opinions.
Back on April 25th someone called JudgeRice put together a video of TOCA Race Driver game GRID versus the Playstation’s Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. Right on a personal view I have personally played both of these games and must say love Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and was a little optimistic about GRID but my views changed. There is no need for me to go right into details here but Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is missing damage and speed if you ask me, nether the less it is still a hot game and I am addicted especially because I want the formula 1 Ferrari car.
GRID on the other hand is fast and what is more it has DAMAGE did I say that loud enough, oh yes damage which makes the game more playable and the fun filled factor, my best part of the game has to be the fact it has drifting which is brilliant, just so you know I have played the demo version of GRID and loved it. Got to admit though the graphics are so much better on GT5.
Please watch the video below then please do comment on what you think?
Are Sony PS3 owners paying to beta test GT5 (Gran Turismo 5 Prologue)?

Gran Turismo has become more popular than many people would have thought it would become, as it is now more than just a racing game. When the first Gran Turismo game was being made game developer Polyphony Digital had to approach many car manufactures so that they could include their vehicles on the game. How the tables have turned as it now seems as if the car makers want to see what the developers are going to do next.
With the new Gran Turismo 5 Prologue already released this is giving a taste of what we can expect once the full game is released some time next year. However; you have to ask the question “are we paying to beta test some new features.”
In the past Gran Turismo games feature a huge amount of events for us as the driver to compete in, from time trials, endurance racing and some rally racing thrown in to the mix. However; do not expect anything like that on Gran Turismo 5 prologue as it is just a glorified demo of the full game. In the demo game we have three tiers, each has a handful of races and challenges for you to compete, and if you manage to finish in the podium on each you will then move on to the next tier. Once you complete the first three you will unlock a secret group of challenges for you to compete in.
The greatest thing about the new game is that it is the first one from the Gran Turismo series to be playable online, with over 16 people being able to race each other on the internet. There is one problem with this though as the setup is a little backwards, it does not have a friends list and you do not get the choice to choose your track or settings, but as this is a new feature we should be thankful that we have this function.
The new demo allows you to download videos; this showcases new cars and events that will be coming in the future. Sony has said that they plan to expand on the cars and tracks through downloadable updates, but what sticks in my mind is how you are having to pay money for this game with less that half the content than you would expect.
If you liked GT2 and GT3 then you will feel right at home with GT5 prologue as it mixes the driving simulator with fun. If you want to get the best from the game, then I advise you to get a racing steering wheel to connect to your PS3, if not then at least get a new dual shock three controllers. This will allow you to drive better as you can get a feel when you are pushing the car to much.
So we know that as a racing simulator GT5 is great, but there is one big downside and that is the online gameplay. Online play is up and down, the setup options are poor and the lack of voice chat makes this part of the game below par. That is not all, there is always connection issues as well as sometimes being able to bump and grind with someone, and then sometimes you can’t. The problem is the main part of the game is so polished and this only makes the online troubles stand out even more, but I am certain that a future patch will fix these problems in due course.
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is indeed a superb game but there is no getting away from the fact that it is only a stop gap until the real game hits us. One thing that gamers will moan about is how high the price is for what you are getting.
So the question I ask is Are Sony PS3 owners paying to beta test GT5?
Gran Turimso Nissan GT-R reaches 193 mph: driven by GT creator
May 1, 2008 by Peter

A day does not go by without us hearing about the awesome Nissan GT-R, this twin-turbo beast seems to do something amazing everyday and this one is no exception. The Nissan Gran Turimso is popular with both drivers as well as gamers as it appears in the latest Gran Turismo 5 Prologue game.
In this video we watch the creator of the GT, Kazunori Yamauchi take the car for a spin on the race track, and takes it up to 193 mph. There was only one race track to take this beast on, and that is the Nurburgring and I have to say the legendary game creator did well to keep the car on the track as conditions were not that great.
The track was wet and a little slippery but Yamauchi looked as though he had been racing for years, and the Nissan GT-R sounded like a devil as the power from the engine screamed around the track. Kazunori did ten laps around the ring and at one point he hit 6 Gs on the meter, which was when the GT-R kicked out on him and gave him a bit of freight. One thing that Yamauchi did say that made me laugh was “driving the GT-R was less like driving a thoroughbred and more like sitting astride a lion.”
Joining Friends Online with Sony PS3’s Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (GT5)

Carrying on with our hands-on review of the Sony PS3’s Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, its now had a couple of weeks of gameplay and while I love the game and think it’s worth the half normal game price…it has it’s downfalls.
The main reason I wanted to play GT5 was for the online racing with friends and family, as Prologue is not the full game (that should be out within a year) I did not expect a massive single player game, although it does have a very good single player game for the money. The online gaming is a joke and I am sure many Playstation 3 gamers will agree, the idea of your car becoming invisible is disappointing and the major downfall is not being able to join in private games with your friends as you would on say COD4.
Fair enough your family and friends could have better cars than you, but that’s all part of the fun and an option to go into private races would have been greatly appreciated.
Do you wish you could have private races in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue?
The game is still well worth buying and you will get many hours of fun from it, lets just hope a free update adds more features.
Brand new Grand Theft Auto 4 Images: not long to go for GTA 4 to be in your collection

Man it just seems as if time is standing still while we wait for the release of Grand Theft Auto 4, a day does not go past without someone talking about or given us a little extra information about the game.
However I will keep things simple for you, and just treat you to some GTA 4 images from the upcoming game. It would have been nice for the developers to offer a demo, much like Grand Turismo 5 Prologue have.
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue helps Sony PS3 sales: does the game live up to the hype
April 2, 2008 by Peter

A couple of weeks back the sales figures for the Sony PS3 in Europe increased by 73 percent, however since the launch of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue last week the sales of the PlayStation 3 have increased by another 14 percent.
The release of the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue without a doubt was going to help sales figure, but it was not thought as much as this. I could not wait for this release, however after playing it a few times there are so many things that could have been done better. The online gaming is very poor, however let us hope that this problem will be rectified, no way do I want to wait a year for the full release to enjoy racing.

So does the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue live up to the hype?
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue hands on online gaming: It is pathetic!

Having played Gran Turismo 5 Prologue I will give you my honest review, some may get offended but oh well it is an opinion well worth talking about.
Playing Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and just playing the game going through the classes is truly amazing and would say it is the best driving game I have ever played and for some reason cannot put the controller down. I have been addicted to CoD4, but until I got this game I have not played Call of Duty 4 for a while now.
Anyway that is the good bit now I will tell you how I feel about playing Gran Turismo 5 Prologue online, after about the 20th time to do the update I finally got to play online and to tell you the truth wish I never.
Racing around the track and obviously wanting to come first is all good but for idiots just basically using your car to help themselves around the corners or to take you off the track is totally pathetic, these boys and girls need to learn how to play a fair game and not cheat.
This is why they really do need to put DAMAGE on the full version game and if they do not then please DO NOT even bother bringing the game out. Please do not get me wrong the game is fantastic and I love it to bits and many of you will agree with me, but either they need to put damage on or ban people playing online if they cheat.
How do you feel about Gran Turismo 5 Prologue online?
Should Gran Turismo 5 Prologue owners get add on pack for full game?
March 31, 2008 by Mark
Filed under Gaming, Sony Playstation 3

This is a question I would love answered and that is “Should Gran Turismo 5 Prologue owners get add on pack for full game?
The reason I ask this is because many of us including myself have bought this awesome game and of course with the knowing that the full game is coming soon, but should we have to pay the full price for the full version of the game?
I think owners of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue should be offered a add on pack to make the Prologue version the full version, yes ok we all have had the choice of buying GT5 Prologue or just sit back and wait for the full version, but come on they know we was going to buy it and not wait.
I bought Gran Turismo 5 Prologue from Asda store for £19.41 and of course when the full game comes out we are looking at around £35 so in total for buying both that is £54.41.
They should allow us to go onto the PSN and download an add on pack for the same price as Gran Turismo 5 Prologue that way it is fair, would you not agree.
Perfect for Sony PS3 online gaming: hands-on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue with 60 cars
March 28, 2008 by Daniel
Filed under Gaming, Hands On, Sony Playstation 3

As I said yesterday, I mostly game online and the game has been COD4 but today my hands are holding Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and while this is only really half a game it’s still perfect for half the price of most PS3 games. The reason its perfect for now is the choice of 60 cars and ability to race with up to 16 other players online which could take up months of gaming just like COD4 online has.
Having only 6 tracks is disappointing, but then COD4 does not have many maps so the real gameplay will be competing against those other 16 players, friends, family and strangers.
Today the game is going to get a hands-on and we will see if it lives up to my high online expectations. Remember to join our RSS Games Feed to keep updated.
GT5 Prologue has stunning graphics, but what sort of last-ability does it have in gameplay and how much fun is this racing game really, we will let you know after the hands-on.
