I’m sure we all know how confusing it can be when you’re visiting a foreign country, and you don’t understand their language. Although translation books can come in rather handy, an app that translates many different languages would be so much more convenient.

We have great news now for those of you that own an Apple iPhone and go on regular holidays abroad, as Google has just released its Google Translate app for iOS devices. According to Chloe Albanesius at pcmag.com, the app enables users to speak into their mobiles and receive a translation.

The app’s “speak to translate” feature enables voice input for 15 languages, and is able to translate them into over 50 different languages. All users have to do to access the feature is to press the microphone icon that is situated next to the text box, and begin speaking.

Google Translate also allows users to listen to different translations that are spoken out loud, in up to 23 languages. Google noted that the iOS version includes all the features that are found in the Web app, including translation history and the ability to access starred translations.

As noted on the itunes.apple.com website, the app – which is free to download and is compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch – displays the translations in full screen, making it a lot easier for others around you to read. The Google Translate app requires iOS 3.0 or later.

Is this an app you can see yourself downloading?

Ever got bored and wondered what you can do to pass the time? Wonder no more as we have the found the perfect tool that will keep you amused for hours.

Google Translate can now operate as a fully functional beatboxing machine, which can be used in any language you want for different results.

The discovery was first reported on Reddit, where a user posted a basic beatbox pattern, using the German language to give it effect.

All you need to do is go to Google Translate, set the translator to translate German to German, and copy the code below into the window before clicking “listen”.

pv zk pv pv zk pv zk kz zk pv pv pv zk pv zk zk pzk pzk pvzkpkzvpvzk kkkkkk bsch

Of course, it doesn’t stop there. Hundreds of users replied with their own versions ranging from Dubstep and Drum and Bass variations into helicopters, trains and machine guns.

The original thread can be found here, and I promise you that it will leave you with lots of laughs.

You can also try some of your own, and then post them back here to see what people think.

Google‘s grasp on world domination continues. So go on then, get creative!
