Some bad news for Google now, as it has been reported that a group of 10 countries have joined forces in their criticism of Google services such as Street View and Google Buzz.

As reported from ZDnet, the countries mentioned include Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain and the United Kingdom.

They are unhappy over the current amount of protection that these services offer consumers, and recently signed a letter, which Google has already acknowledged and called ‘ironic’.

There has always been a debate over Street View and whether it offers members of the public enough protection when Google capture images. As for Google Buzz, users are unhappy with certain aspects of the service which originally revealed personal details about users – although Google soon fixed this up.

What are your thoughts on both services? Do you agree that more protection needs to be put in place, or does it not bother you? Full article through the link.

The product manager (Todd Jackson) spoke at the South by Southwest Interactive conference in Austin, he also revealed that new features will be pre-tested instead of rolling them out to all users at once.

During this conference Google also spoke about the recent security failure which saw Google Buzz reveal data which showed who had been emailing who, prior to this a Microsoft representative believed that Gmail was “one of the most private systems imaginable”.

Yesterday we posted an interesting article looking at how Google Buzz will compete with Twitter, Facebook and Twitter, a recent two-page article posted on ITProPortal looks at some of Google Buzz’s facts and figures.

Gmail and Google Buzz product manager Todd Jackson recently stated that ‘tens of millions of people have checked out Buzz’, this means that around 14 percent of all Gmail’s users have has a look at Google Buzz.

Other interesting facts regarding Buzz include that over 48 hours 9 million posts and comments have been generated, this averages out at around 160,000 updates an hour, which is pretty impressive given how relatively new Google Buzz is. You can see full details here.

I have been ‘Buzzing’ my posts on ProductReviews, so far I am only following one person and being followed by one person, therefore until I have had more of a chance to utilize it I will hold my judgment.

Following on from the big release of Google’s new social media app ‘Buzz’, it has been reported that the company has already had to make several key privacy updates, following complaints from users over which content is shown publicly to others.

As reported from Pocket-Lint, the main issue was that Buzz showed your contact’s details publicly for everyone to see, which is automatically the people you email the most on Gmail.

But now since the changes, you’ll now be prompted with a screen which will ask you to choose which content gets displayed publicly, and you can also block people that are following you, if you wish to do so.

As you may have heard Google have recently unveiled their social networking solution, they have called this Google Buzz and it integrates with GMail.

A recent article posted on Web-Strategist looks into how Google Buzz will compete with Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, there is no doubt that Google Buzz will at least shake up the social-networking industry, however whether it will “kill off” the competition is yet to be seen (and in my opinion very unlikely).

If you check out Web-Strategist’s article you can see a list of strengths and weaknesses which all of the current services offer, Buzz’s main weakness is that it is “very late to the party”, at the moment there is no big reason for users to switch from Twitter/Facebook/MySpace.

One strength is that Google could integrate Buzz into many of their side-projects such as Google Chrome (web browser), Google Chrome OS, Google Apps and Google Android.

Have you had a chance to use Google Buzz? If so, tell us what you think so far in the comments section below.

Still confused as to the potential of Google’s new social networking service ‘Buzz’? Well, not to worry as we have a useful article for you to read now, which states 5 good things about the new service, as well as 5 bad things, also drawing comparison with rivals Twitter and Facebook.

The article comes from Pocket-Lint, who have stated that Buzz is great for viewing all of your social networking information in one easy-to-access place, also praising the fact that it is integrated into the gmail service – eliminating the need for you to download any additional software.

They also draw upon the future potential of Buzz, stating how useful the likes of Twitter, Picasa and Flickr info is only seconds away from your Buzz interface.

At the moment, Buzz is only available to those who have a Gmail account, so you’ll be missing out if you dont have one – but in this day and age, we don’t think theres too many of you that don’t.

Another potentially frustrating thing about Buzz is that, while it can access your information from your Twitter account, you can’t actually update it through Buzz – but that seems pretty logical to us, considering Buzz, Facebook and Twitter are all competing to be top dog.

Interested in hearing more good and bad reasons about Google Buzz? Head over to PL for the full article. Let us know your initial impressions of the new service.

Earlier on we introduced you to Google’s new social networking service Google Buzz, to me it sounds like Google are reinventing the wheel, however I could turn out to be wrong.

We also posted a video which looks extremely impressive, it will be interesting to see if Google Buzz works as seamlessly the video makes out.

There are two ‘selling points’ which are pretty unique to Google Buzz, one is that it will integrate your GMail account with a social networking service, the other is that it will intelligently sort ‘social media’.

Personally none of these ‘selling points’ appeal to me, however I’m sure there will be fans out there, therefore let us know what you think in the comments section below and feel free to answer our poll.

Google are famous for wanting their hands in as many pots as possible, in recent times they have launched an Internet browser and a mobile operating system, now it seems as if they are looking to impact the social networking market.

Recent times have shown that Social media is the future, Twitter has shown how something so simple can really help the user. Now Google Buzz wants to tie-in with Gmail, and make your social life that make easier.

From what we can see Google Buzz will integrate the Gmail interface with media-sharing technology and status updates, their hope is that social networking fans will then spend more time on Google’s sites instead of Twiiter and Facebook etc.

Google Buzz will apparently use their PageRank and quality score concepts to organize social media, this is something that neither Facebook and Twitter offer, therefore in affect this is Google’s niche.

Personally I kind of like checking other sites instead of having everything integrated into one site, therefore I don’t think I will be a fan of Google Buzz.

For a lot more information regarding Google Buzz check out Cnet’s article, this includes a concept image.
