If you are a God of War fan, you are probably starting to get excited about the upcoming release of God of War Ascension, which is now just days away from a release after months of waiting. After that though, the series will inevitably continue on the next-generation PS4 hardware and we have a brief teaser to share with you, suggesting that the transition is going to be an exciting moment for fans.

With Ascension due out in March, 2014 could be the year when a new God of War game is announced for the PS4 – the first game to come on updated hardware. It is going to be an exciting time for both fans and the developers of course, and despite the fact that Ascension has yet to release, it seems that talk on God of War PS4 has already begun.

Mark Simon is the lead game designer for God of War Ascension and he told Eurogamer in a recent interview that the next game on the PlayStation 4 is going to ‘blow gamers away’. Simon explained that having 16 times more memory than the PS3 will enable them to take the shackles off in terms of graphic potential, and show off a lot more of the game detail than what was previously possible on PS3.

He also asked for time from the community and time to study the new hardware, but when the time is right he said that you’ll be blown away with what they could come up with as their team is ‘pretty good’.

For now though, he reiterated that focus is firmly on the upcoming Ascension game, as they’ll be working on all sorts of add-on content to keep fans busy throughout the year. We don’t blame him though for getting excited about the future, as the 8GB of RAM really does change everything from this point onwards and it is going to be great seeing all of the existing franchises become even better, with the memory freedom that they now have at their disposal.

Are you pumped up about the future of PS4 thanks to the 8GB of RAM spec? How good can God of War next-gen become with the boost in graphics that the PS4 will bring?

We have some more God of War 4 whispers to tell you about now, and to our surprise it looks like Sony are finally ready to confirm the existence of a new game. We thought an announcement would be coming at E3 2012, but it seems that it may actually happen next week instead!

Sony has posted a rather large God of War-style teaser on the official PlayStation Facebook page. It’s there for all to see now and it contains the words “Will vengeance bring redemption?”, along with a reveal date of April 19th – next Thursday.

Obviously upon seeing that text for the first time, God of War should immediately be the first thing that springs to mind. Vengeance, redemption – all classic traits of that no nonsense warrior who goes by the name of Kratos. If you still are unsure as to whether this really is God of War related, check out the URL of the image that Sony has posted.

Towards the end it contains the letters ‘gowa’, which has prompted speculation that this could reference a title by the name of God of War Ashes. The color scheme of the image does give the sense of being related to fire, so just maybe. Just like the recent Crysis 3 bombshell that will be revealed soon, it looks like we’re going to be treated to another huge reveal with God of War 4.

Will it really be God of War 4 though, or a spin-off title? If it’s the latter we would love to see this announced for the PS Vita as well, as Kratos would be a perfect fit on Sony’s new handheld. With previous God of War games on the PSP back catalog, it seems a no-brainer that we’ll eventually see a new God of War game in portable format.

What are your thoughts on Sony’s Facebook teaser – it has to be God of War right folks? Let us know if you would rather see a brand new console game, or a new God of War spin-off exclusive to the Vita.

With the PS Vita well and truly in the hands of a lot of gamers right now, it’s clear that the system has enormous potential as owners patiently wait for the first truly AAA title to arrive on the system.

Uncharted Golden Abyss was good, but it wasn’t great in many eyes. Call of Duty may end up being great, but we are yet to see any details from Activision regarding the game, especially on whether the Vita game will be a new title in the franchise, or if it will just end up being a port of an existing game.

Then there is the whispers regarding a potential Grand Theft Auto title for the Vita, which everyone would agree would be a fantastic addition to the Vita lineup at the moment. One other major franchise that has been rumored for the system is God of War, and it’s a little strange that we haven’t heard any official details regarding a Vita version for one of Sony’s best selling franchises.

It seems completely logical for Sony to follow up on their excellent God of War PSP games by bringing a new title to the Vita with touchscreen controls. We wouldn’t just like to see a God of War III port though, but rather a completely new spin off exclusive to the Vita, much like the well received Ghost of Sparta game which ended up winning numerous awards.

With this in mind, you’ll be pleased to hear that Shannon Studstill, Senior Director of Product Development at Sony Santa Monica has told IGN that the possibility of God of War coming to the Vita is ‘on the table’ at the moment. Perhaps more interesting though, is that Studstill also hinted that God of War may also come to Apple’s iOS platform in the future as well, which would certainly cause a lively debate amongst fans.

Would you like to see God of War on the Vita? It seems a no-brainer to us, having already had two titles released on the PSP. Let’s see what happens.

It has been over two years since God of War III wowed us at EuroGamer 2009, now we are finally beginning to hear details and rumors regarding the next game in the franchise – God of War IV. Today we will take a look at a recent article over at SilleGamer.com which suggests that the game may feature an online multiplayer co-op mode.

Apparently lots of reliable sources are suggesting that God of War IV could in fact arrive this year, when it does arrive it seems certain that there will be an online multiplayer co-op campaign where Kratos and his brother Deimos have to escape from the afterlife. We are told that lots of God of War IV details will be published in the January issue of the PlayStation 3 magazine, so hopefully this will allow us to confirm all the rumors which are floating around – when we hear more we will be sure to keep you posted.

Previously the guys behind God of War have suggested that multiplayer won’t work in God of War, however these days it is very rare for any game to arrive without an online element, personally we love the sound of co-op multiplayer over the PlayStation Network – how about you?

If you take a look at other hack and slash games you will see that there aren’t many which boast multiplayer elements, however Visceral Games added downloadable-content to Dante’s Inferno to bring co-op to the game, this was very popular with PS3 / Xbox 360 gamers, therefore we believe co-op for God of War IV will be a success – but what other multiplayer elements would you like to see?

Lately we have seen lots of games boast horde modes where each wave of enemies is more difficult to defeat than the last, we really think that mutliplayer horde mode would be great fun, this would undoubtedly improve the game’s longevity and also give the game more means of income via in-game purchases such as maps, weapons and more….

Do you think that the next God of War game needs multiplayer game modes? If so, what game modes would you like to see? In our opinion the game will sell well no-matter what, but co-op and a horde mode would be great.

If you were wondering whether or not we would be seeing another installment to the God of War series anytime soon, your worries are now over as today’s news suggests...

If you were wondering whether or not we would be seeing another installment to the God of War series anytime soon, your worries are now over as today’s news suggests that the next installment is in fact in development, not only that but we will be seeing it released in September 2012.

The news comes after New Zealand based online retailer, Mighty Ape, listed God of War 4 for a September 28th 2012 release. This is not the first time that the store has given away that the game will be arriving next year as they previously listed it this year back in April. Of course the page in question has since been taken down.

As Eurogamer explains further evidence that the game was in development first came from a CV that was uploaded to Sony Santa Monica for an animator for a God of War 4 cinematic test. The animator denied having anything to do with the series however, leading reporters with only speculation. That was until PSM3 magazine revealed that a source close to the God of War developments told them the fourth in the series will be appearing in September 2012.

While we are still waiting for anything official to be announced, we can be pretty certain that these facts are all accurate, especially considering Official PlayStation Magazine has also hinted God of War 4 development by mentioning the online component it is reportedly set to feature. When God of War 3 launched last year, Sony Santa Monica even announced that it was not the end of the franchise despite it being the end of a trilogy. John Hight, studio boss said ‘This is definitely the end of the trilogy, but we’re going to continue to do God of War games.’

How accurate do you think these details are? Are you looking forward to another God of War game?

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will be one of Sony’s biggest games at E3 2011, however we are now hearing that another PlayStation 3 exclusive may show up at the expo.

According to a recent article post on Forbes Blog it looks like God of War 4 may be announced at the show, details are scarce but if this turns out to be true PS3 gamers arguably have the longest list of titles to catch in action at E3 2011.

Currently we know that Sony have lots of exclusives to showcase, titles include Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, Resistance 3, Starhawk, Twisted Metal and Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception, add God of War 4 to this list and we are sure that Xbox 360 gamers will have to admit they are slightly jealous of what’s in store for the rival console.

God of War III arrived 15 months ago and received perfect scores from lots of critics, some questioned its repetitiveness, but in terms of gameplay and visuals it was hard to give bad press, one thing which was missing from this game was stereoscopic 3D visuals, Forbes clearly states that the next game will be “a new God of War 3D adventure” so looks like the 3D glasses will have to come out for this one.

Sony‘s E3 2011 press conference kicks off today at 5.00pm (PST), apparently this will consist of demos of Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception, Resistance 3 and the NGP, also we are promised “more surprises”, perhaps God of War 4 will be one of these surprises.

Do you think God of War 4 will show up at E3?

We have some rather interesting news now for all you God of War fans out there, as we’ve recently discovered that the God of War PSP titles could well be heading to the PlayStation 3. If a recent rumor is anything to go by, we could be looking at a new GoW HD collection.

As Mike Jackson over on the computerandvideogames.com website (courtesy of the-magicbox.com) recently noted, the rumored God of War collection was supposedly announced via a recent press release from Sony Computer Entertainment Taiwan (SCET).

According to the report, the upcoming collection will include both God of War: Ghost of Sparta and God of War: Chains of Olympus on a single disc, and will include spruced-up HD visuals. The report also claims that it will include both Chinese and English languages.

However, there has been no mention of whether or not the new collection will include trophy support. The launch of the PSP collection would in fact complete the God of War series on the PlayStation 3, following the HD remakes of the PS2 games that launched on the PS3.

There’s been no word on anything for the west at this stage, but we’ll keep you updated if we do hear anything. Would you buy the God of War Portable Collection if it were released for PS3?

We have cited news from VG247 who say there may be another installment to God of War in the making. The news comes with mixed opinions however, and some are still unsure whether the news is true.

According to VG247, the game will launch next year under a title which has not been confirmed yet but is believed to be God of War 4. The news comes from a job listing for Sony Santa Monica which asks for a “senior online programmer” for the “God of War team”.

God of War 3 was a huge success and one of the best games we saw back at EuroGamer 2009, therefore we think that the next installment will be be equally impressive, perhaps we will see PlayStation Move compatibility and 3D visuals, would you like to see this?

Overall the reception should be pleasing to fans of the series who can’t wait to dive into the next God of War game, let’s just hope it meets the high expectations that today’s games have. Will you be excited for a new God of War title or do you think the series has gone a little stale? Let us know your views in the comments section below.
