The news has surfaced courtesy of StickSkills, who have obtained their information from the January issue of the Official PlayStation magazine.

Sadly, we don’t have any pictures or videos of Kratos in-game yet, but we can tell you that Kratos will have his own set of fatalities, combat moves and even his own God of War-style arena to fight in.

As a fan of the genre myself, I’m finding it hard to contain my excitement over this one, but let’s not forget that this hasn’t been confirmed by either Ed Boon or NetherRealm Studios yet – it is looking pretty likely though.

Judging by the report over at StickSkills, it looks like Kratos will be on the disc, so players won’t have to buy him as a DLC add-on, unless you’ll need to pick up some sort of special edition for the game to get him – we’ll let you know as soon as we hear details on this.

What is your reaction to the news? No doubt that PS3 owners will be delighted, but what about Xbox 360 owners – are you frustrated that you won’t be able to play as Kratos? You never know though, the MK team may be planning to have a Xbox 360-exclusive character too. Is there any Xbox 360 characters that you can think of that would fit into the game?

Kratos will have no problem matching other MK fighters in the brutal fatalities department, but what about his combos? We’ve included a video which highlights some of his combos in God of War III which may be included in Mortal Kombat next year. Take a look and let us know what you think of them.

According to this report from Eurogamer, the DLC is set to be comprised of a ‘fighting mini game’, after screenshots from the French OPS magazine showed two characters at either side, with health bars and a timer in the middle – Mortal Kombat style.

Obviously, no word from Sony regarding the rumors, but they DID come from an official Playstation magazine, so there is probably some truth to it.

As PlayStation Lifestyle points out, the update is now available, and you’ll be prompted to download it next time you boot up the game. The update itself is optional, but we advise you to download it, since there is also reports of various bugs and game freezes that have been found.

However, this only seems to be affecting a small group of players though, so no need to panic just yet. Have you been having problems with the game?

Hold on a minute. Isn’t Final Fantasy famed for its long CG sequences too? As reported from VG247, that is what came out of his mouth though, as he chose Twitter to deliver the following message:

“A long opening movie. It’s nicely done, but you don’t need this. It’s movie-like, but you don’t need long openings in games.”

It wasn’t an outright blast on the game itself though, as he did later say that he thought it was a ‘good game’.

Bit of a head-scratcher about the opening of GoW III. Have you bought the game yet? If so, let us know if you think the opening is too long or not.

As reported from Playstation Lifestyle, day one figures have already been compiled by the guys over at Gamasutra. They have stated that gamers in the US had 450,000 copies of GoW III reserved via pre-order, with tons more coming in from the likes of GameStop and other retailers.

In total, the game managed to shift 550,000 copies of the game in the US alone, on just day one – which is well over $33 million if the retail price is $59.99 per copy.

Did you expect the game to do so well on day one? Just wait until first week sales are published – then we will ‘really’ know what we are dealing with here.

However the electronics giant is struggling with short supplies of its console to play the big-budget video game on. The PlayStation 3 which also plays DVD’s, music, Blu-ray discs and connects to the internet is a powerful console, but with buyers struggling to find them it’s dulling the excitement of the new games release.

To make it worse God or War III is produced solely for the PlayStation 3, unlike most video games that are made for multiple systems and therefore reach a wider market. This makes it critical for Sony to ship units as quickly as they can, since the majority of sales are within the first few months of hitting the shop shelves.

Quite often with games of this stature the demand can outweigh the supply, therefore some keen gamers will not think twice about queuing for hours in sometimes horrible weather conditions, all this just to get their hands-on the third installment of God of War.

Back in late 2009 I attended the Eurogamer EXPO 2009, God of War 3 was probably the most exciting game we got hands-on experience with at the event, I must say the gameplay, graphics and gruesomeness really stole the show, therefore I would predict some very impressive sales figures for this PS3 exclusive.

As reported from VG247, the game is now available to buy in the states, while Europeans will be able to get their copy on Friday.

You won’t need us to tell you that GoW 3 is already looking like a potential game of the year for Sony – especially if you have been checking out all the recent video and screenshots that we have told you about.

Europeans will have to wait until Friday to get their hands on the game, so this video walkthrough could be ideal for those of you who are looking for a sneak peak at the game before release.

As reported from Kotaku, Stig Asmussen, the games Director revealed the news in a recent interview with the website.

He explained about the cut ending from the game, but also stated that if the scene was to make it into the game as DLC, it would be free to download.

Here is a snippet of his interview: “The pieces are in place, the idea is written. If it’s something we put out there it would be something that would be free.”

Interestingly, he also states that he had ‘no regrets’ about chopping the scene from the final version, concluding he was happy with the ending that eventually made it into the game.
