It was only a few days ago that we told you about the Harley Davidson recall affecting thousands of bikes. Now we are back to the four wheeled variety with a GM recall that affects the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain, and we have the problems listed for you.

The car manufacturer is recalling the small SUVs from the 2012 model year, and according to USA Today the problem concerns a faulty tire pressure monitoring system. The system is not up to federal standards according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It is affecting a just under 34,000 Equinoxes and Terrains, which were manufactured from July 18th through to September 6th 2011. You can find the build date of your car by looking for a sticker that can be found just inside the driver-side door jam.

Both vehicles have been quite successful for GM as it has been selling them as quick as the company can make them. Both models have undergone a complete redesign, and began life as 2010 models with sales steadily growing. In September sales figures were up 33 percent for the Equinox compared to last year, while Terrain sales rose by 45 percent.

The pressure monitoring system is designed to show a tire warning light when the pressure drops 25 percent below the recommended cold tire pressure. With the recalled models the warning light doesn’t light up until the tire pressure is more than 25 percent below the recommended pressure.

Having tire pressures that are to low could lead to tire overloading and overheating, which can result in a blowout and possible crash. It will also wear your tires out more quickly and will affect handling and fuel economy. GM will start the recall this month with dealers updating the control module free of charge. If you want more information owners can call Chevrolet at 800-630-2438, GMC at 866-996-9463.

Yesterday we discussed about the recalls that had taken place throughout 2010, but it seems that there is one more being issued before the year is out. GM has issued a recall on 100,000 Cadillac models from 2005 to 2007 because of a problem with the airbags, as there are cases where they have not deployed.

That is not all, in some General Motors truck models the rear axels could lock, this could result in a crash. This is a huge blow for the Detroit automaker, as this recall could stick with them due to the fact of this being one of, if not the last of the year. So what models are affected by this recall?

We have 96,000 2005 – 2007 Cadillac CTS, 1,262 2011 trucks amongst others, which Daily Finance has discussed in more detail. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified next month, for more details contact your local dealer.

WSJ has gone into more detail about the recall involving the airbag, saying that it is an issue with the sensing mat. In some cases the mat could bend, which could result in the sensor not detecting a passenger in the seat. If this is the case then the airbag will not deploy in a crash. This is not as bad as the Toyota recall with the brake issue, but it is still worrying – just remember to take extra care while driving over the holiday season.

Following on from our earlier report which informed you about a fresh recall for car giants Nissan, we now have news of another recall, this time affecting General Motors and two of their popular motors.

As reported from the Wall Street Journal, General Motors are recalling 14,425 vehicles in the US after discovering that there is a potential problem with starter and alternator cables in some of their models.

According to WSJ, the Cadillac DTS and Buick Lucerne cars with V8 engines that were manufactured between 2010 and 2011 model years are affected – i.e the most recent versions to date.

The problem lies when these cables rub against the power-steering return line, which in-turn could cause steering fluid to leak, leading to possible fires. So far, GM states that four related fires have been caused because of this issue, but no injuries have been reported so far.

If you own either of the 2010-2011 Cadillac DTS or Buick Lucerne models, you should contact your nearest GM dealer for more information on this.

We are just about to enter the second week of October and already we have learned of two auto recalls involving the Tesla Roadster and BMW models. There is now a third recall to add too that list, the 2010 Cadillac SRX crossover from (GM).

The reason behind the recall is due to an issue with the power steering, which in certain cases could become a potential fire risk. 3.996 of these vehicles from General Motors are to be recalled, 341 of which are in China, the rest in the U.S.

Thankfully there are no reports of accidents or injuries, but this is a serious issue so no chances can be taken. According to a report from Reuters, if the fluid from the power steering system leaks onto parts of the engine that are hot, then you do not need to be a mechanic to know that a fire could occur.

You have to admire how fast GM has reacted to this issue; it has taken just 2 months from an investigation to recall.

GM has announced a new recall, this time there is 1.5 million vehicles affected due to a faulty heated windshield washer. The reason is because the system could overheat and catch fire. The recall is not just specific to one vehicle; there is a whole list of them.

The models affected are between the years 2006 and 2009, some of these include: Buick Enclave, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Avalanche, Chevrolet Avalanche, GMC Acadia, Hummer H2 and many more. The complete list can be found on The Detroit News thanks to Robert Snell.

General Motors has had to issue a similar recall back in 2008, that was due to a faulty fuse box as there was a chance of an electrical short – since the improvements were made there have been no incidents.

GM has said that there have been five fires due to the windshield washer system – thankfully there have not been any reports of crashes or injuries. The recall affects mostly the U.S.; other countries affected include Canada and Mexico. If you have any concerns then please contact your local dealer. As we mentioned above, the full recall list can be found over at The Detroit News

We reported yesterday about General Motors (GM) having to issue a recall for more than 1.3 million of their vehicles, we have now learned that the U.S. automaker is blaming the steering problem on a Toyota supplier. The cars affected are Chevrolet and Pontiac cars, but as we know with past experience the recall could be extended to other models.

GM’s vice-chairman, Bob Lutz was speaking to the BBC yesterday while at the Geneva Auto Show and said that the company JTEKT who supplies the steering for these vehicles is jointly owned by Toyoda Machine Works and Koyo Seiko. He then added that the parts had not meet with “all requirements for reliability and durability.”

FT.com says that this criticism from Lutz comes after the reputation of Toyota has been battered, due to the recall of more than 8 million vehicles. We recently reported that Toyota president; Akio Toyoda had to appear before congress to answer a number of questions regarding the high number of recalls.
