Recently the Gigabyte T1006 showed up at the FCC, after sifting through the boring paperwork we can finally reveal some interesting information regarding this netvertible (yes, that is what they are calling netbook which boasts a display which can be flipped over and used just like a tablet).

The T1006 will feature an LED backlit 10.1-inch display which outputs at 1366 x 768, an unspecified Intel Atom processor (we presume this will be dual-core), there will also be Intel GMA 3650 graphics, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, an optional 3G radio, VGA out, HDMI out, 1 x USB 3.0 port, 1 x USB 2.0 port and one combo USB/eSATA port.

You can see the user manual here, it clearly shows that there is also a webcam, microphone, a memory card slot, a touchpad, built-in speakers, Ethernet, a headphone jack and a microphone jack. We can also confirm that there will be just 1 x DDR3 slot (support for 4GB of RAM), an unspecified SATA HDD and Windows 7 (actual version is unclear, but we presume Starter).

In terms of size and weight we are told to expect dimensions of 265 x 214 x 41.4mm and with its battery fitted it will weigh roughly 1.48kg. It is by no means light and dainty and in our opinion the design looks dated already (see these pics). Obviously it was never going thin due to the mechanism which allows the display to flip over, but things like the protruding battery (see below) make you think you’re looking at a product which arrived a few years ago.

We currently have no idea of pricing and release date details, therefore we will keep you posted as we hear more, hopefully then we will find out what processor it’s rocking as this could potentially make or break this netvertible.

Is this the worst-looking netbook of 2011?

Recently whilst attending Computex 2011 Engadget came across an upcoming Gigabyte motherboard which demanded their attention, this is because it features an integrated solid-state drive.

This motherboard is called the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3-iSSD (yes, iSSD stands for integrated-SSD), it features an Intel 20GB SLC SSD thanks to its mSATA slot, this means that people will be able to install their preferred operating system without having to purchase a separate storage device, neat eh?

Other specs can be checked out via this image, to summarize the LGA1155 CPU socket supports second-gen Intel Core processors and the four DDR3 RAM slots allow for up to 32GB of memory. Most of the other slots / ports are what you would expect from a motherboard of this calibre, yes, that does mean there is both USB 3.0 and SATA 3 ports.

If you do not want the integrated SSD you can buy the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3, this features the mSATA slot, however it is empty. You can see a full gallery of images and find out more about this impressive motherboard over at Engadget, currently we have no idea of pricing or a release date, therefore we will have to keep you posted.

Do you think other motherboard manufacturers will copy this idea? Do you have any concerns? Let us know in the comments section below.

We are no doubt going to be hearing about quite a few new tech products over the next few days, what with the 2011 Computex Taipei computer expo taking place this week. For example, Gigabyte Technology has just introduced its new 14-inch Booktop M2432 notebook.

According to Shane McGlaun over at slashgear.com, the Gigabyte Booktop M2432 notebook – the follow up to the Booktop M1405 – is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost 2.0 for extra power (when needed), and comes with a 14-inch, LED-backlit screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768.

The M2432, which measures 27.6mm and weighs 1.81kg, also comes with a USB 3.0 port, a chiclet design keyboard, a multi-touch trackpad, THX TruStudio Pro, an integrated HD 3000 GPU that supports HD video and a slim optical drive inside a FlexiBay.

However, one of the coolest features of the Gigabyte Booktop M2432 notebook is the included docking station, which comes with a built in NVIDIA GT 440 GPU with 1GB of DDR5 RAM, six USB ports, D-Sub, DVI and HDMI out. Users also have the ability to connect it up to 2 external monitors.

Unfortunately there has been no word on pricing or availability at this stage, but we’ll keep you updated if we do hear anything. Do you like the sound of the Gigabyte Booktop M2432 notebook?

The announcement of Intel SSD motherboards from Gigabyte was not much of a surprise, and is something that we will be seeing a lot more of very soon. The new boards come with 20GB of SSD storage built-on, and is said to help improve performance when it comes to Intel Smart Response Technology. We should expect to get our hands on this sometime next month.

This is a world first, but we have to wonder why it has taken so long, as there will be huge benefits? The motherboard in question is called Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3-iSSD and will offer an increase in system performance, but there will also be a number of other advantages. Maybe we could decide to use this to store our operating system on, and then all other programs can use your standard hard drive, as SSD is still an expensive option?

We should learn more during Computex 2011, but if you visit the official Gigabyte website you get to see just what the new motherboard is all about. There will be a number of built-in visuals, such as Intel Quick Sync Video, Intel InTru™ 3D, Intel Insider and more. What users will like the most is how they can modify their BIOS settings much easier than ever before.

If this motherboard is a little too much for you, then there are another four new models to consider: GA-Z68XP-UD3, GA-Z68XP-D3, GA-Z68AP-D3 and the GA-Z68P-DS3. All of these still offer a great number of features, but they do lack Intel SSD built-in. These five new motherboards certainly makes those from MSI and ASUS look a little dated. Do you think that this is something that you will use?

We have some news regarding the new Gigabyte P2532 notebook which is the thinnest Core i7 notebook yet. The specs have been brought to you by NotebookReview and can be seen in full here, in this article we will bring you a summary of all the cool bits of info you need to know about the latest work from Gigabyte.

The notebook has 15.6″, Full HD display and has Nvidia Optimus graphics switching technology. The notebook, being specially designed for gaming, uses a Nvidia GeForce GT 550M 2GB graphics card which means that games can run smoother with and look great.

The notebook uses 2nd Generation Intel Core i7 quad-core processors for super-fast processing alongside 4GB RAM and it will include a 500GB 7200RPM drive for plenty of user storage. It features 4 speakers and subwoofer while utilizing THX Tru Sound Pro technology which should deliver great sound quality.

Finally we can confirm that it features two USB 3.0 ports for quick data transfer. Unfortunately we are still waiting for a release date and price, therefore we will have to keep you posted. We imagine that Gigabyte will offer a range of optional upgrades so prices will probably vary quite a lot/

If you are looking to buy a new netbook in 2011 we have a new Gigabyte model for you to check out, this is the Q2005, at the moment we have no idea of release date or price information, however we do have full specifications and some photos for you to check out.

Let’s start with its physical design, it has a 10.1-inch display and measures in at 266 x 185 x 19.7-27.1mm and weighs 1.05kg with the 3-cell battery, if you have the 6-cell battery it weighs 1.2kg.

In terms of specifications you get an Intel Atom N550 (1.50GHz) processor, either 1GB or 2GB of DDR3 RAM, Intel GMA 3150 graphics, a 10.1-inch LED backlit display with a maximum resolution of 1024×600, a range of hard drives to choose from (250-500GB), WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, Ethernet, 3 x USB 2.0 ports, an 8-in-1 card reader and a 0.3 megapixel webcam, the netbook runs Windows 7 Home Premium.

You can find out more about the Gigabyte Q2005 netbook here, the only thing which didn’t impress me too much was the fact that there is no SIM card slot for 3G connectivity, however it isn’t too much hassle to connect a USB modem for mobile access, perhaps you could try one of Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE modems to experience some superfast mobile data speeds.

Hopefully we will find out details regarding pricing and a release date soon, when we find out more we will keep you updated.
