During EA’s event at the GDC yesterday, we were given a more detailed look into one of it’s extraordinary breakthrough titles Battlefield 3, with DICE Art Director, Gustav Tilleby saying that the graphics will be as ground-breaking on consoles as the PC.

Whilst the Frostbite 2.0 engine that is used to power Battlefield 3 is said to be “a step beyond our competitors,” according to Tilleby, many critics believe that the trailers doing the rounds for the game are clearly rendered on the high-ends of PC technology, and will not deliver on console versions.

“The positive thing is that the new rendering technique allows us to do more complex calculations at no extra cost,” said Tilleby. He also added that “the game will look very good, even on 360.”

Executive Producer Patrick Bach also stepped in to put his theory forward, which stated that he promises that the console version of Battlefield 3 will look “amazing,” due to the “core technology.” You can read the article over on NowGamer for more on this story.

Although most games still look stunning on consoles, it is clear that PC games have the edge when it comes to showing beautiful displays of pixels. Does this mean that next-generation consoles need to come out quicker than expected, or are you happy with the way graphics still presented by the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3?

Taking that graphics in general on high-end PC’s is above that of consoles into consideration, will you be buying games on the PC, or do you believe that using a console is still where it’s at?

More news regarding the Sony NGP has come to light at GDC 2011, with a playable demos of Uncharted, Little Deviants and the augmented reality capabilities that everyone has been talking about.

Sony’s latest piece of hardware continues to impress, with breathtaking graphics and exceptional hardware achievements. New information about the NGP’s memory card requirements and specifications has also hit the news, which the developers for the NGP will want to know.

The NGP will be selling memory cards in 2GB and 4GB formats, which means that any PS3 developers who use the full capacity of a Blu–ray disc with their PS3 titles will need to be shrunk down considerably. They can do this by simplifying their models, shaders and textures to bring them down to the capabilities of the NGP.

Unfortunatly, the price on the Sony device is still in no-mans-land. We are none the wiser on how much the NGP will actually cost, but it can’t be long before they spill the beans.

Engadget, who was at the GDC 2011 have been nice enough to upload some high quality footage of the device in action. You can view these videos at the end of the post, or by checking out Engadget’s article here.

What are your impressions of the Sony NGP?

GDC 2011 has treated us with some real gems so far, covering all things that gamers want to hear and see. But believe it or not, the Nintendo event has been one of the largest, mostly due to the new Super Mario game for the 3DS and some juicy new information on Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, which now has a release date.

Those in attendance were treated to a new trailer of the new Zelda sequel on the Wii, Skyward Sword, but the real news came to North American fans of the original Ocarina of Time when a release date of June 7 was finally revealed. The date also magically coincides with the Nintendo keynote at E3 this year. Coincidence? I think not.

But that wasn’t all the news that were getting on the subject of Zelda. In the past, gamers have criticized the game’s visual aspects from a remake point of view. New screenshots and images were today released which should put most of those doubts to bed, showing that many polygons and colors have been added which have never been seen or experienced before.

A whole collection of new screenshots can be found via 3DS Buzz, who have the original story, but we have grabbed a few of the best looking ones for you to peruse at the bottom of this article.

Are you looking forward to the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D?

Rumors of Borderlands 2 have been kicking around for some time now, but it now looks as though we have had the first piece of confirmation thanks to a recent interview with Randy Pitchford. In the interview with VG247, the CEO of Gearbox Software said that he has work to do on the new game.

This is not an official announcement of any kind, but it does seem that all the months of denying development of Borderlands 2 was just to take us of the scent. Now one-question remains, when is the release date? THDRoom believes that we could find this out at either GDC or E3; the former is not that long away at all.

When Borderlands was launched back in 2009 there was no denying how successful it was, and since then there has been all this speculation of a sequel, and hopefully the developer will give fans what they want. Since its launch there have been a number of add-ons, such as the Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution DLC. Let us hope that they have taken their time on this, as we do not want the new version to spoil the original.

Yesterday was certainly a day for Borderlands, as Xbox Gaming announced that the two year-old game has now been made available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace in South Africa for a R169, this same version was made available in the States last summer. Wonder how long it will be before the sequel makes it online?

We have some good news for Battlefield 3 fans now, as we can confirm that EA will be unveiling the world premiere of the game at GDC 2011, which kicks off at the beginning of March. Are you still enjoying Bad Company 2 or are you ready for the new game?

As reported from GameDaily, the news has surfaced from this IGN article, which contains the info Battlefield fans have been waiting to hear. If you tune into GDC 2011 on March 1st, you’ll hear EA spill the dirt on the game, and hopefully reveal a solid release date as well.

We imagine that there are a lot of you who purchased the limited edition version of Medal of Honor, which gave you a code to get into the upcoming Battlefield 3 multiplayer beta, which EA may reveal details on as well.

EA will obviously be announcing other new games at GDC, but we feel that Battlefield 3 will be the main event at the show. Do you have a beta code for the game? Let us know your thoughts on the upcoming reveal.
