According to Dana Wollman at engadget.com, the slimmed-down Forerunner 610 enables users to simply tap the screen to flip through menus, rather than feeling around for the host of buttons. Users will be able to view distance, pace and time elapsed all on one screen.

However, they can also add other things such as heart rate. The Forerunner 610 is also the first in the range that features a run/walk alert, which keeps Auto Lap and other features active even when you’re walking. Just like with other models, the 610 enables users to upload their runs onto the web.

Another great feature on the weather-proof 610 is ‘Virtual Racer,’ which is a Nike Running-style community where users can compare their stats with complete strangers. The 610 also includes a new Training Effect feature, which enables runners to track the intensity of their training.
