Magnavox MWR10D6 Progressive Scan DVD Recorder
August 6, 2008 by Peter

If you are looking to record long-lasting discs just like you used to with your old VCR, then the Magnavox MWR10D6 Progressive Scan DVD Analog Recorder is perfect for the job.
The recorder is an old system but it does have something going for it, the price. When you used to record from the TV on a VCR you did not ever get a perfect picture. That has all changed with the introduction of a DVD recorder, no longer will you be looking at fuzzy pictures and you do not have to track it either.
The Magnavox MWR10D6 DVD Recorder works just fine with most discs, even some of the expensive models has a hard time reading all discs. I have to say that compatibility seems to be far better than this cheap player should be, that is a great thing for those wanting to purchase one of these.
The Magnavox MWR10D6 DVD Recorder allows you to do some light editing, like putting titles on discs and on chapters. The one problem is the lack of an LED display of the time and counter.
Woot is currently selling the Magnavox Progressive Scan DVD Recorder for $34.99
Sonos launch ZP120 and Z90 with SonosNet 2.0 support
August 5, 2008 by Peter

We have been waiting for what seems a lifetime for a new piece of hardware from Sonos, but now the wait is finally over. Sonos is launching the ZP120 and the Z90, they are also being released as a bundle, the BU150 bundle will also come with the same original controller.
To look at the ZP120 and Z90, they are no different to other Sonos models, but it is the support for SonosNet 2.0 that improves these over other models. This system uses MIMO; this doubles the wireless distance between nodes.
For those with a keen eye, they will notice that the ZP120 has gone on a diet and shed a few pounds over its predecessor. Although it is lighter, the ZP120 portable home audio system still pushes out 55 watts of sounds.
Sonos are also launching a newer version of their desktop software, version 2.6. This new software will index more music than before, 65,000 tracks in total. The new software also gives new and existing users $200 of free music.
Visit Engadget where they have the full unboxing of these systems.

Samsung Anycall Haptic beats the LG Viewty
July 28, 2008 by Peter

We all love the Apple iPhone, but if you are a Samsung lover then back in March they launched the Anycall Haptic which has a large touch-screen, much like the iPhone. There is one thing that this phone has that the Apple iPhone does not a Haptic Pad, so you are able to feel the clicks.
I have an iPhone and I hate not being able to feel what I am doing on the phone, this is something that the LG Viewty has had for a while now, so it was about time Samsung come up with their own phone with a Haptic Pad.
The Samsung Anycall Haptic goes one better than the LG Viewty as there are 22 kinds of touch sensations, so you can control how much sensation you want to feel in your fingers.
Haptic is from the Greek “haptesthai,” which means touch. The plural form haptics means science and physiology of the sense of touch.
Scientists have studied the haptic technology for years, so by the time Samsung wanted to apply it to their Samsung Anycall Haptic, they knew a lot about the biology of touch.
