At the beginning of the year we looked at the G-Form XTREME iPhone 5 case being dropped from the edge of space, and as tests go, it seems the sky was not the limit once the company decided to let this go 100,000 feet above the Earth’s surface. The G-Form’s proprietary Reactive Protection Technology absorbs around 90% of the force with material that become stiffer on impact, yet some viewers have questioned the authenticity of this.

Some skeptical viewers unsure whether to believe this were expecting to see the full fall and impact, considering all of the crash landing was not seen. It’s easy to understand why many viewers may feel this is a marketing stunt by the company, and we expected to see more such as the iPhone 5 case being detached from the balloon totally and the device being used. In our previous article we showed the video of the drop and suggested that the use of the iPhone 5 camera would make this more believable quashing the amount of skepticism that surrounds this feat.

Now that the G-Form iPhone 5 case is shipping it seems one of the first hands-on reviews has appeared on YouTube, so we thought our readers would like to see this being shown off. The G-Form case comes in two parts, an inner shell that’s made from a TPU material and the outer shell, which actually has two pieces but they are stuck together to enhance its performance on impact. There is still space for those wanting to attach screen protectors, and for a heavy-duty case this still looks impressive.

Do you think the G-Form iPhone 5 case is worth $40? Maybe you have seen other cheaper and more attractive cases on the market? Take a look at the video below and let us know your thoughts.

We have seen a number of drop tests for iPhone 5 cases since the release a few months ago, but you can’t get much higher than a weather balloon at 100,000 feet above the Earth. This is exactly what a video claims to show, which sees those behind the G-Form XTREME iPhone 5 case giving an iDevice one hell of a drop.

The video can be seen below this article that comes with the tagline “iPhone 5 case protects device from 100,000 foot free fall“. The G-Form iPhone 5 case can be found on the official website, which features a lightweight and slim design that’s shockproof. The design allows for access to all ports and full use of the touch screen. The video is aiming to test G-Form’s proprietary Reactive Protection Technology, which will absorb around 90% of the force when dropped thanks to the material becoming stiffer on impact.

The video in question has past 90,000 views in its first 24 hours online, although some of these viewers are a little skeptical over its authenticity. Some people wonder why the video creators “didn’t you show the full fall and impact“. We understand their concerns considering the video shows the G-Form iPhone 5 case drop from a long way up, but you don’t see all the crash landing.

Another viewer felt that the moment video had been shut off this test “lost all credibility“. This had obviously been a marketing stunt by the company behind the G-Form iPhone 5 case, and they wanted its “XTREME” name to be demonstrated in an extreme way.

Are you impressed with this drop test from 100,000 feet? We would’ve liked to see the iPhone 5 case detach from the balloon totally, and if they used the iPhone 5 camera then that would have been even better.
