It’s never a nice feeling when you read on the Internet that your vehicle could be subject to a recall, as you will be searching on websites or waiting for a letter to see if you will be one of those affected. Sadly this is just what happened for 2013 Ford Fusion and Escape owners because there was said to be an issue with the engines.

We can now tell you that the 2013 Ford Fusion and Escape recall issue can be solved with an update, which will come as good news for those affected owners. To fix your 2013 Escape and 2013 Fusion all you need to do is take your vehicle down to your nearest Ford garage and have them connect it up to a computer in order to make a few software updates, which is said to manage the temperature in your engine much better so it will not overheat.

The 2013 Ford Escape recall solution is certainly an easy one and we’re certain that it will take just a matter of minutes to resolve, so it’s not like you will need to make other plans because your vehicle will not be in for days. This is the same outcome for the 2013 Ford Escape recall as well.

Ford has said that their aim is to act promptly when situations like this arise, and they have proved it this time, but we all know that we have been let down by these automakers over the years. However, what worries us this time is the fact that this 1.6-liter engine has been the subject of three other recalls since July, with each of them being very different but with the same outcome, the engine possibly catching on fire.

The engine troubles only affect the US version of this engine because they are tuned differently to those in Europe, which is a good thing because Ford could have had a very hectic Christmas, as the engine software update will begin next week. More details on this matter and if your vehicle is affected by this issue can be found on the Ford website.

The Detroit 2012 Auto Show is currently ongoing with a whole host of new delights being showcased by a variety of manufacturers. The 2013 Ford Fusion has been revealed and the car reinvents the norm.

Ford have great confidence in their new Fusion and has led them to invest $555 million in retooling a plant in Flat Rock, and according to a report on the Detroit Free Press will add another shift of 1,200 workers in 2013.

The current model that was first introduced in 2006 is built in Hermosillo, Mexico. Ford thinks that plant won’t be able to cope with the demand for the new model. Ford has reached an agreement with the UAW, and will use its AutoAlliance International joint venture with Mazda to produce more Fusions with an expanded work force of 3,000.

The gasoline version of the new Fusion will be based at the Michigan plant, while the Fusion Hybrid along with the Fusion Energi hybrid will be manufactured in the Mexico plant. The Ford Mustang and Mazda 6 are produced by the AutoAlliance, but Mazda is transferring production of the Mazda 6 to Japan.

It is thought that production of the new Fusion will start in Flat Rock in June next year, and according to Michael Robinet of IHS Automotive Consulting, it takes a minimum of six months to build a new body shop.

The new Fusion is set to go on sale in North and South America later this year, and in Asia and Europe next year but sold as the Mondeo. The new model will have bolder styling and five engine choices that include three 4-cylinder gasoline engines. These come with the option of an automatic start-atop system that will switch the engine off at idle, which can reduce fuel consumption by 3.5 percent.

A new hybrid version will replace the current model that was first introduced in 2009, and will have smaller, lighter but more powerful lithium batteries. The current hybrid makes up fewer than five percent of total Fusion sales.

Ford is promising that the Fusion Energi plug-in will be the most fuel efficient model, and will offer more mileage than the Chevy Volt and Toyota Prius plug-in. Chief exterior designer Chris Hamilton, revealed that work on the new Fusion began in 2008 with 1,000 sketches from design studios in Dearborn, Australia, UK, and Germany.

These were scaled down to ten ideas that went on to become small scale models, which then left one each from the US and Europe. The best bits from both designs led to the final car seen today. Do you like the look of the new Ford Fusion?

It was only a week ago that we told you about a Honda auto recall that concerned some faulty airbag systems. Today we have another worrying problem to report to you as the Ford recall list of 2011 grows, thanks to the Fusion and Mercury Milan having a wheel nut issue.

According to The New York Times Ford is recalling around 129,000 of its Fusion and Mercury Milan models from 2010 and 2011. The problem surrounds the wheel nuts that are found on vehicles with 17-inch steel wheels. They may break so could potentially lead to the wheel coming away from the car.

Ford has told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about the issue, and any models with alloy wheels are not affected. Ford first became aware of the issue back in August of last year after some wheel nuts fractured during tightening at its plant in Hermosillo, Mexico. The Milan has been phased out now along with the Mercury brand.

The car manufacturer stated that “an extensive investigation” had already begun in January 2011 as the NHTSA announced its own investigation into the issue. The agency said it had started looking into the matter after owners had complained about nuts breaking. There were even four reports of wheels actually coming off.

Ford has responded about the chances of wheels coming off by suggesting noise or vibration would lead to owners going to a dealership. It also stated that there isn’t much chance of all five wheel nuts breaking at the same time.

The NHTSA said that it upgraded its investigation back in July despite the assurances Ford were making. Ford has said it knows of one front wheel and five rear wheels coming away from vehicles that are believed to be caused by the faulty wheel nuts, but were not aware of any accidents.

The 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid was first seen at the 2010 New York Auto Show, which as we know was their very first hybrid car. So nine months later the car has now been at the hands of a number of journalists, so now aim to offer us a review; so what will be the outcome?

James Tate from MSN Autos makes a note that this is Lincoln’s most fuel-efficient luxury hybrid, which we recently reported on as well. There is just one model of the MKZ Hybrid, although you can make a number of changes by adding some optional extras.

One thing that Tate does point out before he gets into his stride on reviewing the green vehicle is how it is very similar to the Ford Fusion Hybrid. This he believes could have an affect on how the vehicle will struggle to compete with its competitors. Do not let that put you off though, as Ford has made this a very affordable hybrid, which is something that you do not get from other American brand cars, but will this be enough?

Huw Evans from AutoGuide adds that the MKZ Hybrid does not have all the futuristic styling as those Japanese brands, but none of them will offer the kind of luxury – well maybe the Lexus GS Hybrid, but that does not offer the same mpg figures. So you have to ask yourself if looks is more important that fuel-efficiency?

Whenever you think about the police force the color blue comes to mind, but not if you are the NYPD, as they have been getting greener. The New York Police Department has now 30 Ford Fusion hybrids, to patrol the streets; maybe they can sneak up on would-be-thieves easier?

This now means that the department will now have 400 Fusion vehicles in its fleet, which should also help to save taxpayers money when it comes to the gas bill. The Ford Fusion hybrid averages around 41 mpg, double what a standard gasoline Chevy Impala achieves.

There are already other hybrids on the streets on New York, such as the Nissan Altima sedan, which is more widely used by parking enforcement officers. According to NYDailyNews, this is all part of Mayor Bloomberg’s plan to reduce New York’s carbon emissions by 30 percent over the next seven years.

We wonder if NYPD will consider the new Chevy Volt once it comes to market? Or why not go all green with the Nissan Leaf, as long as they do not have to drive too far?
