Since Samsung released the Galaxy Nexus a couple of weeks ago the biggest problem that users found with the handset was the sound issue. Many users have complained that while making a call the sound in the earpiece could suddenly decrease. Google and Samsung have promised a fix will be released even though there is an unofficial one available. Another thing that early adopters found with the device was the lack of Flash support. We can now tell you that the Galaxy Nexus is to get Flash next month, but no sound fix ETA is available.

According to TechRadar Adobe has announced the handset will get Flash Player 11.1 before the end of the year. The company announced the news on its Adobe AIR and Flash Player blog, with it due to arrive in December.

Greg DeMichillie from Adobe said “To be clear, the Galaxy Nexus does not initially support Adobe Flash Player 11.1 and AIR 3.1”. When the device was launched many early owners took to the web to moan about the missing feature, and DeMichillie said the delay was because “Adobe’s partners’ “varied schedules that are different from our own“.

Adobe has recently revealed it is to end mobile Flash support, and the Ice Cream Sandwich update will be the last version released for the mobile sector. Owners of the handset will be more concerned about the issues with the volume on the handset being resolved first though. Consumers in the US are still waiting for an official release date for the handset, with some reports hinting at December 9th.

Are you pleased to get Flash support on the Galaxy Nexus?

We told you last month that Apple had stopped installing Adobe’s Flash as standard on the new range of MacBook Air’s. The reason first given for this was so owners can get the latest secure version themselves, but improved battery life could be another reason.

Daniel Eran Dilger of AppleInsider is reporting that Chris Foresman of Ars Technica, has found that the new MacBook Air has better battery life without Flash following testing. Loading up various web pages in Safari the battery lasted for a full six hours, once Flash was installed and the same sites loaded battery life dropped to four hours.

Foresman wrote “Flash-based ads kept the CPU running far more than seemed necessary.” When Flash is not installed, websites normally display static ads instead of Flash content, doing away the need for processing power being constantly demanded by the Flash rendering engine.

As Flash ads are consuming up to 33 percent of the battery potential, it’s no surprise Apple seem not to be interested in installing Flash on devices with smaller batteries such as the iPhone. Use the link to read the full article.

We have spoken about Flash 10.1 on a number of occasions now, such as it not coming to the Apple iPhone but there have been some conflicting reports about its effects on the Nexus One battery performance. However, a number of bloggers have now spent some time trying to make sense of all the confusion.

You would have thought that they would have spent their time studying the advancements with the software itself and not how it affects battery life of the new Google phone or any other smartphone come to that. There are so many factors regarding why the battery drain was much more than expected, and most of them does not point to the new Flash Player.

The reason why people started to question the battery performance of the Nexus One running Flash 10.1 was due to a recent video, this showed an excessive drain on power. However, another video from Flashmobileblog.com has now been released demonstrating the true battery performance, which you can see below.
