South Korea fire causes laptop battery shortage: Asus, HP and Dell affected already

So when you hear about a South Korea fire you may read the news and think “well its miles away and does not affect me”, but this will not be the case for many computer users. The fire was at LG Chem’s Ochang laptop battery plant and this has now caused a laptop battery shortage, which has already affected Asus, HP and Dell.
The situation could get much worse as there is a rumor that customers could end up with a price hike for replacement batteries, and while Dell will not say how much this is affecting laptops they did comment by saying they are talking with other suppliers to source more batteries. The Ochang plant will start production again in around 2 or 3 months. Do you think you will be affected?

This is funny for us watching but it is not for the people that were in this particular gas station. We are not too sure if the emergency button was pressed by the gas station clerk or even if there was just a flaw in the system.
All we know is if there was a fire at the gas pumps at least you know the fire would be put out. Please watch the video below and do comment on how you think this happened.
Scented Fire Alarm for the Deaf

In Japan they are trying to develop a fire alarm for the deaf which will use the sense of smell, Wasabi or Japanese Horseradish will be used as it has a particularly pungent smell.
It has been said that the aroma that wasabi gives off is enough to wake the dead and when tested 13 out of 14 test subject were awoken within 2 minutes. One of the subjects who were actually deaf woke up within 10 seconds.
I think that this is a fantastic idea; a lot of the devices which are out at the moment involve flashing lights or pads to be placed under a pillow which vibrate. A lot of people sleep under their bed covers so therefore wouldn’t see the flashing lights.

A spaceship oil warmer, now there’s an idea!
This is an oil warmer based on the idea of a spaceship, it does look a little like the Enterprise from Star Trek. All you have to do is add some fragranced oil in the warming dish and then light the tea light candle and you will have your desired aroma around the room.
For $14.99 it has a small price tag, but from my view I can’t see it being popular.

This isn’t the first product which has been designed in Cupertino which could have led to a tragic ending.
The owner of this iPod nano woke at about 2 am to a fire alarm and to find that his PMP was in flames on the floor. Thankfully the fire was small and there was no major damage to the property.
No one is sure as to why the nano when up in flames, but it doesn’t sound good, many nano owners will be keep a close eye on theirs, I think.
