Earlier on we told you about the possibility of Square-Enix including the Last Mission extra content into the HD remaster of Final Fantasy X-2. Now we have a single image to show you, which gives you a no nonsense look at how the new HD version of Final Fantasy X compares with the PS2 original released way back in 2001.

As most of you are well aware, Final Fantasy X and X-2 are due to be released in HD before the end of the year on PS3 and the PS Vita. Square-Enix had insisted that the conversions wouldn’t just be simple ports, but rather remasters which they have put a lot of effort into to ensure that they look as good on current generation hardware.

The screenshots that we have seen for Final Fantasy X HD so far are very impressive to say the least, but this GIF image gives you a clear idea of the key differences in quality between the two. Considering the long period of development and Square-Enix’ reluctance to give out information on the game, it tell us that this isn’t just a bog standard lazy port.

The GIF justifies this perfectly as well, almost going from a PS2 game to PS3 quality game with the enhanced visuals. The conversion quality between Wakka on PS2 and PS3 is amazing and just goes to show what can be done with the effort put in and not just a port thrown together in a couple of months for the cash-in.

You’ll also notice that Square-Enix has gone to the extra length to add some leaves to the trees that previously didn’t have any on the PS2. Bare in mind that this is just one capture from the game – these intricate details could have been added throughout the whole game.

It means that the game takes on added significance towards the end of 2013 and it could be a must-purchase on PS3 and PS Vita. We just hope that the PS Vita version holds up on its own two feet – the lovely OLED screen should help to boost visuals.

Are you planning to get the game from day one? Which version will you be buying if so – PS3 or PS Vita?

You already have an idea of how good the HD remaster of Final Fantasy X is looking, but Square-Enix has this week given us a solid indication on how Final Fantasy X2 HD will fair, the sequel which is now going to be part of the remaster package. Fans may not have been too keen on an all-female cast when the game came out on PS2 originally, but you may be tempted to revisit the game once once you see the lovely graphics on offer.

It’s no secret that Square-Enix has been taking their time on Final Fantasy X HD – true to their traditional format of making gamers wait forever with next to no information on the game during development. It’s a situation that has occurred with Final Fantasy Versus XIII, but luckily the developer has kept information flowing somewhat on a steady basis for the PS2 remasters.

Just to remind you, Final Fantasy X HD and Final Fantasy X-2 HD will be included on one PS3 disc as a package together. However, it is a different story on PS Vita, as storage problems has caused Square-Enix to ship FFX HD and FFX-2 HD separately as two Vita purchases on Sony’s handheld.

Hopefully the prices will be reflected for this oversight, as we’d argue that many of you will opt to pick up the portable version rather than the PS3 version upon launch. As we wait for Square-Enix to confirm this, feast your eyes on the collection of new Final Fantasy X-2 HD screenshots that the developer has released.

We see for the first time, how Yuna, Rikku And Paine look with their updated models and you have to say that the ending result is very impressive indeed. We would even say that these graphics are basically PS3 quality now, as opposed to PS2 graphics – which gives you an idea of what to expect. Check out the full batch here and let us know if you will be playing the remasters on PS3 or PS Vita.

We have some interesting new details to bring you now on the highly anticipated Final Fantasy X HD remaster from Square-Enix. The game is due out on both PS3 and the PS Vita, but we are hearing some exciting information on how the PS Vita version could look the better out of the two, due to the crisp 5-inch OLED screen.

The game has been featured in the latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu and the fresh information should be very pleasing indeed for PS Vita owners at least. We have heard that all of the cutscenes featured in the game have been recreated in HD and the sound quality in FFX has also been enhanced as well.

As we showed you in a previous screenshot, the character models such as Tidus, Yuna and Wakka have all been given a texture update as well, so Square-Enix were not lying when they said this will more like a proper remake, rather than a bog standard HD remaster. They could have kept the PS2 cutscenes untouched if they wanted to save time, but it’s nice to see that they’ve gone the extra mile to convert them into HD as well.

The most interesting piece of information to come from Famitsu, is the fact that the PS Vita version of the game will apparently look better than the PS3 version. This is due to the fact that the enhanced graphics will be seen in clearer detail on the gorgeous 5-inch OLED, compared to playing the same game on a TV.

The downside of this, is that Final Fantasy X-2 HD will ship as a separate game unlike PS3, as Square-Enix has now revealed that they can’t fit both games on a single PS Vita game card – so there’s the reason. The game is 70 percent complete at the moment, so let’s hope they can finish up by the end of the year and finally release the game.

Will you now pick up the PS Vita version ahead of the PS3 version?

It looks like Square-Enix are finally ready to release the highly anticipated Final Fantasy X HD title before the end of the year. The game has been shrouded in mystery for months, but we’re pleased to say that we can finally bring you an official trailer to watch, showing off more glimpses of gameplay and the updated HD graphics conversion from the original PS2 game.

Last week we showed you a new scan from a Japanese magazine, giving you an idea of the update that main character Tidus has received, in the process of transferring the game to HD quality. Now, the video you see above will give you a better idea of how Tidus looks and hopefully a lot of you will be happy with the graphics boost.

It is nothing mindblowing we have to say, but we’re just pleased that Square-Enix is finally giving out information on the game. This particular trailer is in German, but the full English version should be available during the week. We get to hear the famous To Zanarkand soundtrack playing throughout the clip, while there’s also another reminder that Final Fantasy X-2 is also part of the remaster process as well.

As we’ve already told you, Final Fantasy X2 is going to be included on the PS3 disc, but it will be a separate purchase on the PS Vita unfortunately. There’s still no actual release date for when the game will be out on PS Vita and PS3, but hopefully Square-Enix will reveal it very soon.

Take a look at the new trailer above for yourself and let us know your thoughts on the graphics. Are you slightly disappointed with the HD remaster quality, or satisfied?

Following on from the big Final Fantasy X HD news this week about the bundled Final Fantasy X-2 game on PS3, we now have some additional information to share with you. The upcoming game from Square-Enix has appeared in a Japanese magazine in the form of some new screenshot scans, giving us another glimpse of the graphical differences between the new HD versions and the original game on PS2.

It is fair to say that Square-Enix has been extremely quiet on giving out details for the game, cemented with the fact that we don’t even have a release date on PS3 or PS Vita yet. The game is apparently scheduled for release on both platforms before the end of the year though and we could have seen some new evidence that the game is indeed a proper HD remake and not just a quick HD remaster.

The scan you see above shows what main character Tidus looks like on the new HD version, side by side against his original model on the classic PS2 game. The difference is actually pretty significant, with a surprising level of improvement in his facial features and hair as we saw in the original game.

We admit that this is not much to go on, but it does provide extra hope that the game is going to be well worth the wait once it is finally out. If they have updated Tidus in this way, then we’re guessing that they have also updated all of the other characters as well and hopefully Yuna will look even better than she did in a recent screenshot which initially wasn’t anything amazing.

Tidus also looks a lot more mature it seems in the updated visual, which is another exciting prospect if they choose to alter the likes of Auron as well. Hopefully the release of this Japanese scan is a good sign that further information on the game is coming soon.

If you are looking forward to Final Fantasy X HD, let us know your thoughts on the new HD Tidus model above.

We have some important news for those of you looking forward to the highly anticipated Final Fantasy X HD remake for the PS3 and PS Vita. Unfortunately, it is good and bad news we have to say especially if you are planning to pick up the PS Vita version instead of the console game.

It has become apparent that Square-Enix will also be offering Final Fantasy X-2 for those that pick up Final Fantasy X HD on PS3. A new rumor has claimed that both games will be included on a single Blu-Ray, and will now give PS3 players the opportunity to explore the extra content that X2 includes, such as all female characters as main players and a multiple ending system for the first time.

While this is fantastic news for PS3 owners and definitely more deserving of a potential $60 price tag, we’re also hearing unfortunately that the same incentive will not be applying to the PS Vita version of the game. The same source of the information surfacing from a Japanese magazine suggests that Final Fantasy X-2 is going to be sold as a separate PS Vita game, meaning that owners will have to pay twice to complete the whole Final Fantasy X saga.

One good thing to add is that the game is thought to be releasing on both platforms before the end of the year, since Square-Enix are yet to commit to any sort of release dates for the game. If the news is true, then PS Vita owners are obviously going to be feeling a little hard done by here.

Who is honestly going to pay a separate fee for Final Fantasy X-2 on PS Vita when it comes included for free on the PS3 version? The only assumption that we can make on this, is that the PS Vita version is going to be significantly cheaper than PS3, to make up for the loss of extra content.

If the PS Vita ends up being $30 for each game, then that is obviously fine. Anything above that though and PS Vita owners are going to have a problem. If you have been looking forward to this game, let us know your thoughts on the new developments.

We finally have an update on the missing Final Fantasy X HD game to share with you now, but it is perhaps not the big reveal that many of you were expecting to hear. Square-Enix recently teased that more information would be coming soon, but unfortunately we still don’t have a release date to bring you, which is what everyone badly needs in the first place.

What we do have though is promise from Square-Enix that the game is still definitely on the way and also confirmation that the PS Vita version of the game is looking fairly decent. The company used the recent PS Vita web presentation event earlier this week to show off some images of the PS Vita game in action, giving us a basic idea of the updated visuals on offer showing Tidus and Yuna on screen.

It looks very pretty we have to say, but we can’t help but feel a bit disappointed that a few still screens was all we received. There was no actual gameplay of say a battle for demonstration purposes on the PS Vita and as mentioned above – no solid release date either. It means that we still don’t know if the game is definitely coming out on PS3 and Vita in 2013 and if the game will feature any sort of cross-platform features between each other.

We didn’t even see the state of the PS3 version either, with Square-Enix just opting to show off the PS Vita version on this occasion. It goes without saying that there is a massive amount of pressure on Square-Enix to deliver with the game, which is probably the main reason why they are taking so long to drop any substantial details on the game.

Were you disappointed with the minimal Final Fantasy X HD reveal this week? No gameplay or anything was a bit of a low blow we have to say after previously waiting so long after the initial TGS reveal.

It is starting to get a little frustrating on the wait for Final Fantasy X HD, first announced by Square-Enix at the 2011 Tokyo Game Show. We have had very little information on the game since that unveil and fans will be making their prayers in hope that the game will finally come out in 2013. The good news is that Square-Enix has now officially spoken about the game this week, informing fans that a news update is promised and we won’t have to wait very long to find out how the game is progressing.

Final Fantasy X is considered to be one of the best FF games in history and arguably the best one out of the whole list. The PS2 classic is thought to be a complete remake, with new content and not just a quick upscale in 720p graphics as many first thought. The game is also on the way to the PS Vita as well as PS3 don’t forget, so it is understandable in a way why they are taking so long to develop with two platforms on the go at the same time.

In a reply to one of their fans, Square-Enix Europe revealed on Twitter that ‘the world will get answers soon, we promise’ when asked for a progress update on the highly anticipated PS Vita version of the game. That sounds to us like Final Fantasy X HD is going to be released before Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which still appears to be non existant at the moment.

Either way, we have a feeling that Final Fantasy X HD is going to be well worth the wait and we can’t wait to play this on the PS Vita. It will be nice if we see some cross-platform sharing features with the PS3 version as well – give us the good news soon Square-Enix.

Is this one of the most anticipated games of 2013 for you?
