As football fans across the globe are well aware, the January transfer window has now shut across Europe. To many that only means one thing – waiting patiently to see when the FIFA 13 January transfer updates will be implemented into the game. There has been some big movers in the final part of the window, notably David Beckham to PSG and young Brazilian Coutinho to Liverpool.

At the moment, the update hasn’t arrived in FIFA 13 which is a bit disappointing, although hopefully EA are hard at work and will rollout out the roster update over the weekend. It shouldn’t be too long we imagine, as don’t forget EA swiftly rolled out the first portion of the January update, when the likes of Demba Ba and Daniel Sturridge were added to Chelsea and Liverpool respectively.

If you head to the manual update section of the game though, there is no install available at the moment so fans just have to sit back and wait to see Beckham in a PSG shirt and likewise for Coutinho. Another big name to look out for is Didier Drogba, as once the update is out you should be able to see him move from the free agent section to his new club Galatasaray – if the deal has actually gone through from Shanghai Shenhua that is.

Around 14 hours ago a new video has been uploaded to the YouTube user channel for NepentheZ, which is a destination for some of the best FIFA 13 Ultimate Team gameplay and also showcases TOTY players. The latest feature is titled ‘TOTY TEAM – Ruin A Randomer’ and makes this the 31st episode in the Ruin A Randomer series.

It is quite the success story for this YouTube user with more than 22 million video views and over 150,000 subscribers to their YouTube account. They have created a number of video series to help viewers improve within FIFA 13, which include skill games, learning more about The Ultimate Team, and of course the Ruin A Randomer series. It is that time of year again for FIFA 13 fans, as the January Transfer window is now open meaning that clubs can now do business once again and we’ve already seen a fair number of notable transfers. Unlike previous versions of FIFA, the frequent update system implemented in FIFA 13 means that the first January update has already taken place, with the first batch of transfers now being playable with their new respective clubs as of January 6. Fans of Chelsea and Liverpool will be very pleased to hear that Daniel Sturridge can now be seen on the Liverpool team and likewise for Demba Ba following his recent switch from Newcastle.

The update should have happened automatically if you have been playing FIFA 13 regularly, but if not you’ll see the changes in the game thanks to the last EA roster update, or you can go to customize to download the update manually. The official transfer window for real time deals doesn’t close until the end of the month, so expect to see another update happening in FIFA 13 to conclude activity for the remainder of the window.

For now though, there is plenty of action to be seen in FIFA 13 already. Aside from Sturridge and Ba moving as mentioned above, Joe Cole will now be on West Ham’s books, while legendary free kick specialist Juninho has now made a move to New York Red Bulls to play alongside Thierry Henry after switching from Vasco De Gama.

As far as we’re aware, the updates are not yet live in FIFA 13 Ultimate Team, so you may have to hold on until the end of the Transfer Window for EA to rollout out all of the changes altogether. It’s nice to be able to jump on to FIFA though after seeing the day’s transfer activity on the news, so fans should be happy that updates are happening almost instantly now compared to previous games.

Take note that Alexandre Pato has now moved to Brazilian club Corinthians, so don’t worry if you suddenly find him missing on Milan’s roster. To get the bad news out of the way first, we can tell you that FIFA 13 on Wii U is going to be missing a fair number of key features, as EA has confirmed that Nintendo’s version will go on sale without the new First Touch features within the game, or the FIFA Street skill system.

Unlike previous titles, EA isn’t hiding around the fact that the Wii U version has less content either, as producer Matt Prior has said in black and white that there are two versions of the game – version one for Xbox 360 and PS3 and version two, which Wii U owners will get on November 30 when the console launches in the UK.

Being even more honest, EA admits that the Wii U version was completed in under 14 months, with the development team working under time constraints in order to get the game ready for the Wii U launch. While these are included factors in the game having less content, EA has also said that the Wii U hardware itself was a challenge to develop for, with “different processors, CPUs and libraries”.

On a more pleasing note, EA has however managed to get the game looking as good as the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions apparently, with the Wii U version also playable at 60 frames per second and controller support for one GamePad, or four Wii U controllers and four Pro Controllers.

It’s no secret that video games and loved ones are not a good combination together. Whether it is pretending you are ill or simply lying outright to a partner to get that extra session of FIFA in, EA’s new name is starting to take addiction to dizzy new heights.

A survey compiled by VoucherCodesPro has concluded that 31% of a polled 1,124 newly single gamers have specifically admitted that FIFA 13 played a part in the build up to their relationship ending with a partner. Other FIFA 13 factors that culminated in the split include FIFA 13′s addictive transfer window feature and the frustrating issues regarding connection problems when trying to play online.

Skyrim is another one of those really addictive games that some people just find it hard to put down, but is it that competitive nature within FIFA that causes some to lash out at the nearest person next to them? We can definitely agree that games with a ‘losing aspect’ to it can have negative consequences on a relationship if a partner happens to be next to them most of the time.

Unsurprisingly, the patch will be going live on the PC first, on Friday 12th October (tomorrow) and will then be available on Xbox 360 and PS3 at a later date, although no date has been specified for those platforms yet.

Looking though the vast list of patch notes, it’s clear to see that the PC version is crashing all over the place, with as many as five different circumstances where the game will crash to desktop – not too good from EA’s point of view you have to say. The console versions of the game are fairing a little better compared to PC, as you’ll find that most of the changes will improve stability and matchmaking within existing areas of the game.

A piece of important information for you to digest though, is that FIFA 13′s online servers will be going offline on Thursday October 11th, to which EA has stated that gamers should expect ‘online service downtime’ – basically, you may want to hold off from playing FIFA 13 online until the maintenance window is up.

Meanwhile, you’ll also be pleased to hear that EA will also be using some of the maintenance window to improve the Auction House when playing FIFA 13 Ultimate Team. Hopefully by the end of the week, the PC version of the game should start to operate as normal and you’ll be able to have a long session without the game freezing once. Judging by feedback on our initial PC problem thread, it obviously tells us that there’s definitely major problems with the PC version.

We’ve heard that some FIFA 13 PC owners are experiencing frequent crashes to desktop, notably after the EA Sports logo sign where the game will suddenly freeze after start up. To point out, this isn’t happening to everyone as we’ve also had feedback from you where no such problems are occurring on your copy.

The official EA forums state otherwise though and it’s clear that it is affecting more than a select few and we have a feeling that EA will need to issue a swift patch to improve the situation. In the meantime, you should always ensure that you are running the latest version of the game, so check for updates regularly and install them at the first opportunity when you get the chance.

EA has reminded users on the forums that the game requires either Windows Vista or Windows 7 to operate, but even then users are stating that the game is still crashing after the logo on Windows 7. It’s also worth mentioning that the problem could be solved by making the file ‘replay0.bin’ a read-only file – This can be done in the FIFA 13 game files and the properties section.

With 32 pages on the forum thread though and growing by the day, it’s clear that there are issues going on with the PC version of the game – a shame since others are having no problems at all with many saying that it’s easily the best looking version of the game ahead of Xbox 360 and PS3.

You might be mistaken for thinking FIFA 13 launched a couple of weeks ago when you look at the impressive sales figures, which resulted in the game storming to the top of the UK charts. FIFA 13 managed to hit a record for football game sales, and has only been beaten by MW3/2 and Black Ops when it comes to launch day sales.

Early indicators point to over one million FIFA 13 games shifting in the UK at launch, and this is now the best selling launch for 2012, although it would likely be beaten by Black Ops 2 when this game sees a release later this year. Borderlands 2 became the biggest launch of this year the previous week, and amazingly topped ME3 by fewer than 5,000 sales. GTA 5 fans also know that not many games could top a Grand Theft Auto game, although Rockstar are yet to hint towards a launch month.

We’ve heard numerous times that Konami has now ‘bridged the gap’ on FIFA with PES 2013, but most of you who have played both demos will probably already have an idea in your head on which game is the better out of the two. Now that FIFA 13 has been released though, the collection of reviews are available as well, giving you a semi professional opinion on which game comes out on top.

Unsuprisingly, it is EA that has once again emerged victorious, as FIFA 13 has managed near perfect scores from a selection of some of the well known gaming websites in the industry. IGN has awarded FIFA 13 a 9/10, stating that you’ll find it hard to find a game more enjoyable this year.

Another 9/10 for FIFA 13 has come from Eurogamer, as they have said that the game is more detailed and engaging than ever before. The good news for PES 2013 fans though, is that Konami’s new effort is not far behind. The game has managed impressive scores in its own right, with CVG giving PES 2013 a 9.1/10 and IGN posting an 8.5/10 for the game.

If you’re a keen believer of Metacritic review scores, you’ll be interested to know that FIFA 13 currently has a Metacritic of 88 on the PS3 and 90 on the Xbox 360. In comparison, PES 2013 has only managed an 82 on PS3 and 83 on Xbox 360 – quite a sizeable gap between the two franchises you have to say.

If you usually queue up to pick up your copy of FIFA at midnight, you’ll probably already have the retailer of choice that you are planning to use. GAME has now released official details of their plans to hold a FIFA 13 midnight launch, confirming a vast list of retail stores across the UK that will be holding special events especially for FIFA.

Not every GAME store is listed, so be sure to check with the official list of stores here so that you don’t waste your time in heading out, only to find that the store is closed. As detailed on GAME’s website, there are going to be several versions of FIFA 13 to choose from, including a special GAME only bonus incentive as well.

For £42.99, you can pick up the standard edition of FIFA, or for 99p if you trade in a selected game here. If you pay a little bit more, you can pick up the FIFA 13 Ultimate Edition for £48.99 which comes with 24 Gold packs for Ultimate Team. As for the GAME bonus, both packs will come with access to the Adidas All-Star team, which will let you play with stars such as Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema on the same team.

If you really fancy splashing out, you can even opt for the new PS3 Super Slim FIFA 13 bundle, which is £249.99 for a 500GB console – although we wouldn’t really recommend it with the Sony PS4 just around the corner.
