The Ferrari LaFerrari (yes a truly horrible name) has not even been delivered to its first customer yet, and there is already talk of an extra special model. However, those rumors of a more extreme LaFerrari have been quashed by a Ferrari spokesperson, but that doesn’t mean the end of it.

We say this because the Ferrari LaFerrari has alredy proven to be a successful hypercar because all 499 units have been sold, and so would make sense for a more aggressive version. It’s still possible to see a Ferrari LaFerrari track-only track only version much like the Ferrari FXX, which was based on the Enzo, albeit a more extreme and aggressive version.

We can understand why Ferrari would want to distance themselves from talk of a faster and lighter LaFerrari at this moment in time, but never say never, not when we have seen them do similar things in the past.

The reason why all this has come about was because Flavio Manzoni, the LaFerrari designer said that he was unable to make use of something very special, and so has been kept back for a special edition Ferrari LaFerrai in the future.

And according to Motor Authority, it was this admission that started the rumor mill off, which is why Ferrari had to step in and say that Manzoni’s comment was taken out of context. However, we still believe a Ferrari LaFerrari track-only version will happen, but will it be as good as the Ferrari FXX, which cost $1.8 million? The lucky 30 owners could only drive these hypercars on special track days, and had to be maintained by Ferrari.

Ahead of the Geneva Motor Show we had no idea what the new Ferrari would look like, or the name the Italian hypercar would have. Thankfully we now know the vehicle will be called the Ferrari LaFerrari, and while for the most part the design has been well received, there are a few who believe the McLaren P1 has the advantage.

If you were unable to make it to Geneva then the images taken at the show would only give you a limited view of what is to come. So how would you like to view the Ferrari LaFerrari from all angles? Well you can thanks to the 3D model we have for you below, thanks to the hard work of Giorgio from Cubize.

Having reviewed this 3D model of the Ferrari LaFerrari from all angles, it’s clear there are one or two issues, such as the scale of the vehicle when viewed from certain angles. However, we have to remember a lot of work has gone into the 3D representation, but it’s just a shame that it is not very accurate, although it’s a good try.

It’s a shame because the LaFerrari is a beautiful looking car – although I prefer the P1 – and some of the surfaces have not been captured that well. Although, it does give you a general idea of what the Laferrari looks from multiple angles, let’s hope someone with more time on their hands is able to produce a far more accurate 3D representation.

Maserati seems to like the LaFerrari, as they are thinking of building a hypercar based on Ferrari’s next flagship model. However, Maserati is to ditch the hybrid system and go for a more traditional powertrain, which could be something the purists would much prefer?

Thanks to Autoblog.

We knew both the McLaren P1 and the Ferrari LaFerrari were going to come with similar specs because of them being hybrid and calling upon years of experience in F1. However, each company will go about things in a very different way, such as one having a smaller engine, but opting for extra power from turbo chargers.

Since the P1 and the LaFerrari were showcased at Geneva last month we learned so much more, but since then news has been a little stagnant. After doing a little digging we have learned that Ferrari has released a LaFerrari configurator, which McLaren has yet to do so for their P1.

Okay, so the Ferrari LaFerrari configurator is limited because you can only select three different colors, but we are told potential buyers can choose whatever color they like. However, being able to select different wheels and interior colors would have been nice as well, although not sure Ferrari would want you to change those aerodynamic efficient wheels.

We doubt McLaren will even bother releasing a P1 configurator, especially when we have just learned that around 75 percent of the 375 units have already been sold. One would presume most of the 499 LaFerrari’s have also sold, especially when you consider more than a thousand people made requests to purchase one of these hypercars.

Going back to Ferrari’s LaFerrari configurator, even though the options are limited, we are sure the Italian car manufacturer will cater to a buyer’s need, such as making different choices to the LaFerrari interior, for a price of course. We would also imagine McLaren will do the same for P1 buyers.

See a video of both these cars doing what they do best around a race track, and see if you can see which of the two handles better?

If you ever wondered what it would be like to own a Ferrari FF then you may be able to do so on a budget, as we all know that the real deal is far out of reach of the average driver. Let’s clarify a little shall we; there is a report that we could soon see a shooting break version of the C7 Corvette Stingray in the fall of 2013.

Callaway Cars has released a rendering (see above) of what this long-roof version could look like, and we have to say it is a dead-ringer for the four-wheel drive, four-seat Ferrari FF. Okay, so we know we said above that this would be the poor mans version, but when you consider the C7 Corvette shooting brake concept top speed could be more than 200 mph, it’s still a pretty serious car and not the only C7 to benefit from a performance upgrade.

The longer version will give the C7 Corvette Stingray increased interior space, although we cannot see there being much room for passengers in the rear. The vehicle will be light thanks to the AeroWagon body being made from carbon fiber, so should also make it far more agile as well.

If what Callaway says is true then they could release the Ferrari FF wannabe around the same time as the production version of the C7 Corvette.

The changes are expected to cost around $15,000, and while there is a general agreement that a C7 Shooting Brake version is a good move for Callaway, it’s also suggested that this should be made available to European drivers and not just those in the US. Register your interest.

We already knew that the Enzo successor was going to make its debut at Geneva and we also had limited details on its specs, but what we did not know was its official name. We can now tell you that the name for the new hypercar is the Ferrari LaFerrari and will be a direct competitor to the McLaren P1 because they both have a racing pedigree and the fact that they are a form of hybrid.

While we learned most of the technical specifications of the LaFerrari, some important specs were still missing, such as weight. However, we now know its performance figures and they are comparable to the P1, which are a 0-62 mph time of less than three seconds for both models and a top speed of 217 mph (although 230 mph has been rumored) for the LaFerrari and 218 mph for the McLaren P1, although this could go faster but has been limited electronically.

Image above thanks to Motor Authority

Above you will see the main specs of each car pitted side-by-side and it’s interesting to see how two different companies can produce a hypercar that are pretty similar in their performance – a lot like F1 in that respect. However, it won’t be until we can see both the Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1 in a drag race and what their times are on the all-important Top Gear test track that we can see just how close or far apart they are.

Personally I much prefer the P1 because I feel that there is too much going on with the LaFerrari. If you are spending a vast sum of money on a car it is nice to have a focal point, but there isn’t one with Ferrari’s new beast. Having said that, this new hypercar does look insane, which is something that we know appeals to those who have the funds to purchase such a car.

The biggest news at the Geneva Motor Show was the unveiling of the LaFerrari, which we will look at later today. However, that was not all what the Prancing Horse wanted to share, as we are now hearing that certain new Ferrari cars will have iPad mini integration.

Apple and Ferrari already have a good partnership with each other, so this just helps to strengthen the bond. The mini version of the iPad will be placed on the rear of the front seat inside the interior of the FF, which will allow passengers in the rear of the car to have even more entertainment at their fingers.

As yet not much more is known about this deal because Bloomberg has limited information at this time, although we do wonder if there will be a price increase for the Ferrari FF because of the inclusion of these small tablets?

However, we can tell you that as part of this new in-car entertainment there will also be Siri integration, but we are uncertain as to what functions this voice activation will offer the FF driver and its passengers.

No doubt Apple haters will be out in force to say that this is such a terrible idea and even suggest that it will have a negative effect on the image of Ferrari. The Italian company made their choice not to go with Android for a reason, so we should just respect them for it, and let’s face it, when are most of us ever likely to have a Ferrari anyway?

Ferrari and McLaren assumed that they had to only worry about each other during the Geneva Motor Show in a few days time, but it seems as though another hypercar is preparing to oppose them. The vehicle in question is the Lamborghini Veneno, but while the specs seem standard for a hypercar the price does not as there is a rumor that this could be £3.1 million, which converts to $4.4 million.

The successor to the Ferrari Enzo and the upcoming McLaren P1 specs seem evenly matched, such as around 900 horsepower and the fact that both make use of KERS, the Veneno is rumored to come with a 740 horsepower engine. However, don’t think that this will be a slouch because that’s pretty similar to the power from the Pagani Huayra.

So what makes the top secret Lamborghini Veneno so expensive? Well according to a leaked magazine article the specs of this new hypercar all attributes to the astronomical price, such as the 6.5-liter V12 engine, 7-speed single-clutch transmission, carbon fiber canards that are out in the open and the brutish styling.

All of this technology is rumored to help propel the Lamborghini Veneno to 220 mph, which would be 3 mph faster than the P1. However, we do know that McLaren has designed their car to be fast around a racetrack rather than worry about top speed.

There doesn’t seem to be many people who love the design of this new Lambo (if true of course) because it looks overdone in all areas, something that we will never see with the new Ferrari and what we already know of the P1.

However, we may have just found out the price, as it’s been reported that the new Ferrari hypercar is to cost more than €1 million, which is $1.34 million if converted. However, one would expect those in the US to play a little less than their European counter parts.

Having said that, the price will be far more, as this is before taxes, so if you live in the UK you’ll have to put at least another 20 percent on top of that figure. While this may seem pretty steep and is around the same price as a Bugatti Veyron, you have to look at some of the technology that is being used.

There are not a great deal of people who will be able to afford the upcoming Ferrari, which is also rumored to be called the F70, which is why there will only be 499 units being made. This guarantees that you will not see many of these on the road, so just adds to their exclusivity.

While we still do not know the final specs or what the final look of the Ferrari Enzo descendant will look like, we do know that the powerplant will be a form of hybrid, much like the McLaren P1 in that respect. It’s been reported that the Ferrari will produce more than 900 horsepower, so will be pretty even with the McLaren, which is said to produce 903 horsepower.

Whenever you think of a supercar or hypercar you expect them to drink the fuel at an alarming rate, but with the use of hybrid technology Ferrari has managed to reduce the fuel consumption by up to 40 percent. Okay, so you may think that this goes everything about what these cars stand for, but we have to also consider what they have been doing to the environment as well. Which of the two hypercars will you choose, or would you much prefer the rawness of the Pagani Huayra?

It’s speculated that the Ferrari Enzo replacement could make an appearance at Geneva next month and a recent render seems to fit in with the parameters of its predecessor. It does seem funny that we hardly know a thing about the new hypercar, not even its name, which is a little strange. There are three names in contention; those are the Ferrari F150 (highly unlikely) the F70 (more plausible) or the F150 Italia.

Come next month we hope that the guessing game can finally stop, but then more questions need to be answered. While Ferrari had leaked an obscure image of the front end of the Enzo successor, it was still hard to make out any details. However, there have been several renders, with the latest render seen above thanks to a designer and dedicated Ferrari fan.

Looking at this teaser it does show that the designer has stuck with the parameters of what made the Enzo such an iconic car. While the speculation continues we can’t help but say that has to be one of the best pictures to date.

Spy shots of the Ferrari F150, F70 or Italia has already appeared online, but because it was heavily discussed, it was hard to make out any of the details or beautiful design flares that we have come to love from the Prancing Horse.

Once we get to see what the final production version looks like then the attention will go to the new Ferrari’s specs, such as top speed and handling. However, once this hypercar does go does go on sale its price will be a deciding factor, as potential buyers might consider the McLaren P1 if the price is just too high – although this will not matter to die hard Ferrari lovers with an endless pot of cash.
