Up until now there has not been an official Facebook application available to download for the Apple iPad, despite there being one for the iPhone. This has of course left users having to use the Web interface, or other Facebook-friendly apps such as Friendly, My Pad and iFace.

However, it looks as though that is all about to change as Nick Bilton from nytimes.com reports that people who have been briefed on Facebook’s plans claim that the company is getting ready to introduce a free iPad app that has been specifically designed and optimized for Apple’s popular tablet.

According to the people in question, the application has in fact been in production at Facebook for nearly a year, and was in the final stages of testing. Facebook head Mark Zuckerberg is said to have been heavily invested in the process, and has been overseeing decision on its design and features.

The Facebook Chat and Facebook Groups features are said to have received an overhaul for the upcoming iPad application and according to the report, the app will also enable users to shoot and upload both photographs and videos directly from the tablet’s built-in cameras.

Do you think we will be seeing an official Facebook app for the iPad launched in the coming weeks?

With the alleged leaked details made available, here is an insight into Facebook’s new photo application.

Yesterday an early view of the new Facebook photo-sharing app was leaked worldwide. This app should hopefully be coming to your iPhone with Facebook developing a photo application to rival all others. In an article on Digital Trends, Molly McHugh reports the excitement over the up coming application and that it is more than just a photo app.

As there is no official Facebook app for the iPad, this could be specially made for this purpose. It could also be a redesigned Facebook application which will please mobile device enthusiasts. Considering this, the first images seem to show more than just a photo-sharing app.

The probability that Facebook is preparing to give us its own unique photo app is not out of the question due to Facebook’s already popular photo sharing platform. Rather than just a photo app, Facebook could have great success redesigning using information on social media with mobile devices.

One of the questions would be, is it integrated into the Facebook app’s initial photo function? As the multi modeOne feature only lets you share one photo at a time, maybe a multi-picture mode for more than one image or countless photos taken in one area during that time can be shared instantly.

Would you like use this app for Facebook photos? From the picture available, it seems like multi share could be an option including comments. For more information, head over to Digital Trends.
