Owners of iOS devices have been able to enjoy Sky TV content for a while now as users of the Android platform have been left out in the cold. Today we have some good news for you as the Sky Go Android app release will be coming in time for the new F1 season.

The broadcaster is adding some new channels to its mobile TV service that will include the new Sky Sports F1 channel. For the first time it will also be available for Android users to enjoy and according to a report on TechRadar will launch next month.

Back in November we brought you the news that the Android Sky Go app would be launching in the coming months. Sky Go first launched last July and offers subscribers to the company the chance to watch content via a Wi-Fi or 3G connection.

While owners of the iOS devices and PC users have had access to the service Android owners have been left waiting. This year’s F1 season begins on March 16th with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, and users of the Samsung Galaxy and HTC devices will get the service first. This would be an ideal opportunity to go out and buy the Galaxy Note with is huge 5.3-inch screen.

Sky is also adding its Entertainment channels to the Sky Go app, which includes Sky Atlantic from today. Coming next month Sky 1, Sky Arts 1, and Sky Living will also be added. The iOS app already offers user’s access to Sky Movies with more than 600 movies available.

The company is also adding free Wi-Fi to customers of its Broadband Unlimited service, which will be provided by The Cloud. This will provide more than 10,000 Wi-Fi hotspots in places such as Caffe Nero and Pizza Express.

Are you pleased to be finally getting the Sky Go app on Android?

Are you a fan of Formula One racing? If you are and you own an Apple iOS device, then I think we have some news that could well be of interest to you. Jump Games – an international publisher of mobile entertainment applications – has just announced that the F1 2010 video game has recently come to the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

As noted in a recent article over at gamasutra.com, the iOS version of the F1 2010 game – which won a BAFTA Video Game Award for Best Sports Game – features all of the official drivers, teams and circuits, including the night race at Singapore. This means users can play as their favorite driver, picked from the official 12 teams, to race on the 19 official tracks.

The game will provide players with three different game modes: Party Play, Time Trial and Endurance. The Time Trial mode tasks players with achieving the fastest possible lap on the selected circuit. Users will see a ghost car driving ahead of them with a default completion time. Every time the user beats the lap time of the ghost car, it becomes the next time to beat.

Endurance mode is simply an extension of the time trial mode, where players will have to check their consistency of speed throughout the chosen amount of laps, with the player’s average time being registered. Party Play on the other hand is a multiplayer mode, which will enable players to compete against up to 4 of their friends using the same device.

Gamers control all the race action using just 3 simple controls, as well as innovative sliding acceleration. The F1 2010 GAME also offers customizable driving configuration, so gamers of any experience can simply pick it up and play. It also offers social elements with the integrated Open Feint and Game Center leaderboards.

This of course enables gamers to submit their best endurance and lap times onto the global leaderboard, as they aim to reach the top. The F1 2010 GAME will also enable players to share their game achievements with friends and family on popular social networks such as Twitter and Facebook. You can view the game in action on an iPad over on the YouTube website.

The game is available to download from the Apple App Store now for $2.99. However, as noted over on the itunes.apple.com website, the app does require your device to be running iOS 4.0 or above. Will you be downloading the F1 2010 game?

The 2010 F1 season gets underway in just a few days time, this means that you had better get the latest iPhone Live Timing App by SoftPauer. The application also works on the Apple iPod Touch and is considered one of the best sporting apps available.

The app was introduced back in 2009 – since then it has undergone a major upgrade. The app costs £19.99, the cost does seem a bit high at first – but offers you all the latest news throughout the 2010 season. Not only will you get all the latest news, you will also get a birds eye view of the track in real-time.

If you are not near a TV then you can use this app to keep you up-to-date from the moment the lights go out till the end of the race. All timing data is supplied by the official Formula One timing information system. There are three languages available right now, English, French and German – Spanish and Italian will follow shortly.
