Earlier this month we brought you news of the confirmed date for the release of the Nintendo 3DS version of Codemasters’ F1 2011 in the UK. Well that day has come and gone which means the game has finally arrived so for those that live life in the fast lane you can now play your favorite racing game on the go.

As with the announcement of the game’s UK release date, Codemasters has also launched a video showcasing some of the in-game graphics and gameplay to commemorate the arrival of the game. The video that was launched with the announcement only teased parts of the gameplay, which was broken up with bulletins of what the games key features included.

The launch trailer which can be viewed below reveals a lot more than the first did without interruptions from writing across the screen. Again it shows the game being played on the actual 3DS, where it is revealed that both screens serve a dual purpose. The bottom screen is used for navigation, showing players where they are on the map and what bends are coming up and the top screen features the main racing gameplay.

Here is a reminder of what some of the key features of the game are. Firstly there are the multiplayer mode options which include co-operative career mode for two players and head to head time trial modes and a Grand Prix mode which both support up to four players. Challenge modes, time trials, Grand Prix and full seasons are also available for single players. CVG also notes that F1 2011 will be among the launch titles for the PS Vita which is expected to arrive in Japan next month.

Will you be getting F1 2011 for the 3DS to play on the go?

Fans of Codemasters’ F1 games will be enjoying the latest version, F1 2011, at the moment. It offers much more depth than the previous title, which was already very popular and the graphics are almost on par with the realism you would find in Gran Turismo 5. One thing these fans cannot do for now is play their game on the go.

At the moment the game is only available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC but today we have news that will please those gamers who like to play on the go as Codemasters has released a trailer that reveals the release date for the Nintendo 3DS version of the game. As CVG explains it is a work in progress gameplay movie that teases some of the gameplay you can expect from the version.

The video also reveals that the 3DS version will feature 60 quick-fire challenges, four player online play, and the circuits, stars and cars from this year’s F1 season as the home console version does except players will also be able to experience it in 3D. From the clip we can see that the dual screen of the Nintendo handheld comes in handy as the second screen acts as a circuit map allowing players to see their location on it and the turns ahead.

F1 2011 will be available on the 3DS on November 25th. A PlayStation Vita version of the game is also expected to be available when the system launches this year on December 17th. In the meantime check out the video clip below and see some of the amazing gameplay that will feature on the handheld versions for yourself. What do you think? Will you be getting the 3DS version of the game so you can compete on the go?

Before you decide to buy Codemasters F1 2011, you need to make certain that you know what you are letting yourself in for. The reason we say this is because it is not like any other racing game, as it is more for the hardcore fan, as the game will offer them more value for money – although this should not put you off. We do need to point out that the graphics are much like they are on GT5.

When you start a new championship it is a very daunting task, as you have to start with a low-budget team in order to start your career. Do not think that you have it easy at the back of the field it’s much harder. The reason for this is the fact that you will almost certainly be at the back on the starting grid, and then you have to try and make it round the first corner, without going into the back of anyone.

There are a number of driver’s aids that can be turned on in the game, and we would recommend that you do so if you are new to the game. The aid that gives you the biggest advantage is the racing line, as it lets you know where to stick your car on the track, as well as warning when you need to break and then get back on the throttle.

However, you have much more going on in the cockpit this year compared to the 2010 version of the game. The first is KERS, which will give you an extra 85hp when you need it, but you will only have a limited amount of KERS, just until you start a new lap. Another thing that you need to do while driving down the straight is to activate your DRS; this reduces the amount of drag on your car and aids overtaking.

However, the biggest challenge will be to manage your tires, as the compounds being used do not last as long as they did last year. So you can see that just getting the Formula One car round the track is a huge job, much tougher than Forza 4. It is for this reason that you need to make sure that you are up to the challenge.

There are two things expected for September, the launch of the iPhone 5 and F1 2011. But it is the latter that we are more interested in today, as we now have the first gameplay video for you to feast your eyes on. The first thing that you will notice is the unbelievable graphics are on par with Gran Turismo.

Codemaster has been working hard on this new game, and from what we have seen it looks as if it is coming together nicely. With each year, new rules come into effect in the world of Formula One, such as KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) and DRS (Drag Reduction System).

You can clearly see these new features in action, DRS is very easy to spot, as you will notice that the rear wing will open up at a certain activation point on the track. In theory this is meant to help with overtaking. Now we have seen that this can happen on some tracks, while others it does not – so you will get to see how well the system works for you.

However, you will need to remember that you will be traveling at a much faster speed with DRS activated, so we can see you messing up a few times and not remembering to brake early enough. Also with KERS you will get an increase of at least 85HP, and we do hope that Codemaster has been able to make that apparent in the new game?

From the moment that you see the Ferrari on its jacks having its wheels changed in the pits you know you are in for a real treat. The shine and reflection of the car must have taken a huge amount of development time?

After the scene where the Renault leaves the pits that is when we have noticed an error. The first two cars on the grid are Ferrari’s, followed by a McLaren and then a Red Bull. Now when was the last time that you saw that grid order in this years F1 championship? OK, we know that it is just a game, but would be nice to add a few simple details like that in.

Having said that, we just cannot find a fault with the graphics and the camera angles; how awesome is it to see those cars go round corners in excess of 120mph? However, the best part of this gameplay video preview has to be how the cars ride of the kerbs. It looks like the Renault has taken too much kerb going into the corner, as two wheels are off the track and then come hard back to ground to help give the car traction as it powers on through the corner.

Have a watch of the video and let us know how you think it compares to F1 2010?

We have some pretty exciting news now for those of you that have been waiting to hear about a launch date for the much-anticipated F1 2011 game, as we’ve just received word that it’s now been given an official release date. The bad news however is that you’ve got to wait until September to play it.

According to a recent article by Christopher Dring at mcvuk.com, Codemasters has recently confirmed that the F1 2011 game will be arriving in stores on Friday, September 23rd. Just like last year’s BAFTA award-winning F1 2010 title, the racing sequel will be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

As Jamie Pert mentioned in one of our previous articles, both Sony NGP and Nintendo 3DS versions of the F1 2011 game – which is being developed by Codemasters Studios Birmingham – are currently in development, although the release dates for these are still to be announced.

The upcoming game is said to include a new split-screen mode, and features all 12 teams and 24 drivers that will be starting the 2011 Formula 1 season. The complete calendar of 20 circuits of this season will be available for players to race on, including the new Jaypee Group Circuit in India.

Are you looking forward to the release of the F1 2011 video game?

When Codemasters released F1 2010 in late 2010 they had high-hopes for the game, it did not dissapoint and was a massive hit for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, now we are hearing that F1 2011 will be hitting even more platforms.

According to Nintendo-Universe.co.uk Codemasters has confirmed that as well as the three platforms F1 2010 hit last year F1 2011 is also being developed for Sony NGP and the Nintendo 3DS.

We had a look on the Codemasters website and couldn’t find any information confirming this, how quite a few other reputable websites have also reported this news so it looks pretty legitimate.

It is thought that like last year’s release F1 2011 will arrive late in the year, no date has been given, in fact all we can confirm is that if all goes to plan it should arrive in Q4 2011.

Despite last year’s game being a success it was not perfect, people reported problems with pitting and AI was questionable, Codemasters did addess most of the issues raised, hower some unforgiving gamers gave up waiting, let’s just hope Codemaster kept the majority of F1 2010 gamers on their side.

Hopefully more F1 2011 news will arrive soon, when it does we will be sure to keep you posted. How do you think that F1 2011 should differ from F1 2010?
