Earlier today we told you about the Galaxy Nexus that will be getting Flash support before the end of the year via an update. The handset has been experiencing a bigger problem though that has been affecting early adopters of the handset. There has been issue surrounding the volume on the device that can make the smartphone useless for making calls. Google have promised to release an update at some point, but some resellers of the handset reported shipments being frozen. Now we can tell you that some UK retailers are reporting fixed Galaxy Nexus stock, but there is still no news on an update yet.

TechRadar are reporting in an article that online retailer Clove are claiming to have received new stock of the handset, which has the volume bug fixed. The new stock has been given a software update to remedy the problem, which only seemed to surface while using a 2G network.

Then a second retailer Expansys released a statement that was claiming it would also be receiving fresh stock on November 30th. It added “The new stock has had a Google approved firmware update applied to it by Samsung’s distributors in order to fix the bug with volume control that affected some original stock.”

Unfortunately there is still no word from either Google or Samsung when owners who already have the Galaxy Nexus will be receiving the software update. Hopefully now the issue seems to be resolved we may also get news when consumers in the US can expect to get hold of the handset.

Are you thinking of getting the Samsung Galaxy Nexus?

Last week consumers in the UK were introduced to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which was the new Android smartphone to come running the latest operating system. There have been issues with the handset though with owners complaining of a strange sound issue, which Google has since acknowledged with a fix promised. Meanwhile consumers in the US have been left wondering when the handset will land on their shores. Today though we can tell you that the Galaxy Nexus is available now contract free in the US at a cost though.

Earlier today we brought you the news that the Galaxy Nexus could be released on Verizon at the same time as the Motorola Droid 4 on December 8th. But now the guys over at Engadget are reporting in an article that the handset is shipping now via retailer Expansys.

If you want to treat yourself to the new Android smartphone the retailer will provide you the device for an eye watering $750. This is for the 16GB version of the device that uses GSM (HSPA+) technology that will work nicely with both AT&T and T-Mobile’s 3G networks.

The price is a little steep when you consider that the version that will ship via Verizon will have 4G LTE capability. But on the other hand you are not tied into a long two year contract. It will just depend if you can wait another week or two for the device to land on Big Red or not, and if using the device on either AT&T or T-Mobile appeals as well.

Would you pay $750 for a smartphone?
