Social gaming appears to be extremely popular among Facebook users these days, and the list of available games just keeps growing longer and longer. If popular games such as FarmVille, Mafia Wars and FrontierVille don’t quite appeal to you however, you might be interested in learning more about ESPN’s new social networking game.

The game in question is called ESPN Sports Bar & Grill, which as noted by Mariel Loveland over at scribbal.com gives users the opportunity to manage their very own sports bar. Players will literally be able to control everything from the on-demand and simulated games that are played on the TVs, to the sporting paraphernalia that decorates the walls of the bar.

An interesting feature of the ESPN Sports Bar & Grill game is the ability to receive real-time sports news and updates whilst you’re playing, so you won’t have to miss out on the action from your favorite teams. The game is presented by Samsung, which of course means that their products will be present throughout the game.

For example, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is included in the rewards that players can win for their bar for completing specific challenges. Other rewards include bar stools, posters, arcade games and even flat screen TVs. ESPN Sports Bar & Grill players will be faced with all the same challenges that real bar owners have to face in the real world.

Not only will players be tasked with keeping customers happy and generating revenue, they will also have to maintain the look and the stock of their bar. Once players start earning cash, they can buy new chairs, bigger TVs, nicer walls and more sporting paraphernalia. For users that are under the age of 21, the bar will only serve non-alcoholic beverages and food.

One of the best features of the ESPN Sports Bar & Grill game is the fact that players can listen to ESPN radio while they play to get live updates. They will also have the ability to play new games or replay older games that aired on ESPN on their bar’s television. Because the game is social, players can team up with friends in order to win rewards.

ESPN Sports Bar & Grill also comes with a Game Predictor ‘pick-em’ game integrated into it, which enables players to make real life sporting predictions with their friends. The more predictions that you and your friends get correct, the more rewards you can win for your bar. This isn’t the first time that ESPN has ventured into social gaming either.

According to Jennifer Van Grove over at mashable.com, their first release, ESPNU College Town, launched back in September last year. The ESPNU College Town game now has over 582,000 active monthly users, with 60,000 people playing it every day. Do you like the sound of the ESPN Sports Bar & Grill game?

Lately we have started to hear information regarding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, now we can confirm that a date and time has been set for the game’s World premiere, hopefully this means we will get to see some gameplay in action.

The World premiere will take place on May 23rd, an exact time has not been given, however it will show sometime during game 4 of the Western Conference Finals on ESPN. Coverage of this game starts at 9.00pm and finished at 11.30pm (EST), therefore during one of the ad breaks the video will show.

This news was confirmed on the Call of Duty: MW3 Facebook Page, chances are the video will be more of a teaser than anything else, we will probably get to see some glimpses of the campaign and maybe even a brief look at multiplayer action, but don’t hold your breath on the latter.

By showing the game’s premiere roughly two weeks prior to E3 2011 we wonder whether more will be shown off at the Expo, let’s face it Activision could have just waited a couple of weeks and debuted the game’s video there, perhaps they want to use E3 to excite some gamers who are thinking about jumping to Battlefield 3 in the fall.

Will you be tuning in to game 4 of the Western Conference Finals on ESPN to see the Modern Warfare 3 premiere?

In just over 3 days time the Pittsburgh Steelers will take on the Green Bay Packers in the Super Bowl, tonight NFL stars will compete in this year’s EA Sports Madden Bowl video game championship, if you have Xbox Live you will be able to watch the action on your 360.

The championship will kick off at 9.00pm EST / 6.00 PST on Thursday, February 3rd (tonight), to watch it you need an Xbox 360, an Xbox LIVE Gold Membership, the ESPN application for Xbox and an ESPN3.com-affiliated broadband ISP, you can see a full list of these providers here.

If you have all of the above simply turn on your console and sign in to Xbox Live, go to the video marketplace and the select ESPN, you will then need to download ESPN, once the download is complete return to ESPN in the video marketplace and you will have access to live events and on demand events. If you have any problems doing this check out this link.

Last year Maurice Jones-Drew won the competition, I wonder if he can win two years in a row like Alex Smith did in 2006 and 2007. Will you be watching the Madden Bowl XVII on your Xbox 360 tonight?

Microsoft Xbox 360: ESPN-branded Console On The Way?

We have just found an interesting image of an ESPN Xbox 360 that has popped up on the internet, which could foresee another new branded Xbox 360 hit the market.

According to an article over at Engadget, they received an image from a tipster that shows a mockup of an Xbox 360 branded with the ESPN logo and colored in red. Apparently, it was found just sitting there on a Microsoft PR server that could be the result of a branding exercise or a failed idea that never came to pass.

But if we get our bearings together, we will remind you that ESPN 3 is now live on the console that came with the Xbox 360 Dashboard Update. Therefore the partnership of Microsoft and ESPN could go that one step further in bringing out an ESPN branded console.

If you are a cable subscriber but only really use it to watch ESPN, a brightly red-colored Xbox 360 console is not too far away from what you could use as a replacement or even a substitute.

Would you be interested in an ESPN-branded Xbox 360 console?

Update: The custom ESPN console was an asset designed to celebrate the launch of ESPN on Xbox LIVE. There are no plans to manufacture an ESPN-branded console for sale at retail.
